Looking forward to this!

Hey, Gary! Nice to see you here!

Hello from Hamburg!

Couldn't post a photo of today's three cassettes, unfortunately, due to inexplicable camera troubles. Settled instead for a photo of one of them, swiped from the Internets. (It's the Bene Gesserit cassette.)

Your show is such perfect timing for me - just when I get home from work.
Avatar 11:55am
Tony Coulter:

Hey there, indeterminacy!
Avatar 11:56am
Tony Coulter:

For me, it's a bit early (9:00 AM). Somedays -- like today -- I'm not too awake.
Avatar 11:57am
earrie:

Delayed start time, today, yes? 19min, I think, stated in Doug's email.
Avatar 11:58am
indeterminacy:

9AM? Are you in Hawaii?
Avatar 11:59am
Tony Coulter:

Hey earrie -- nope, we're all set to go -- I hope!

Pretty sure all streams are going down at noon for 5min. (Ken noted in trouble's comments)
Avatar 12:01pm
earrie:

And noted in Trouble's broadcast, too.
Avatar 12:02pm
Tony Coulter:

Eekk -- no one told me. Fingers crossed. It does seem to be cutting out.
Avatar 12:04pm
earrie:

And I'm mistaken about Doug's email. He noted start time 19min based on an 11:41 send time. So probably just that ~5min of wonk, if any.

2014? que??

The Insane series is amazing...

Anna Homler (sic?) did the wonderful House of Hands..
Avatar 12:07pm
Tony Coulter:

Hola, DCE and Rich!! 2014, yes -- cassettes live!
Avatar 12:08pm
Tony Coulter:

@ earrie: yes, the wonkiness seems to have passed, thankfully. Just some dropouts during my in-theme.
Avatar 12:11pm
Tony Coulter:

This Insane Music comp is their first cassette release in *years.*
Avatar 12:12pm
earrie:

Maybe it was 5min in grasshopper time.
Avatar 12:14pm
Tony Coulter:

Probably just two flicks of the cosmic master switch.

The Farmers Almanac says when a free-form radio battery change-out occurs immediately after a lunar eclipse and on the standard income tax due date, the signal and stream disruption is minimized.

Heya, still b/p! Whew, that's a relief.

Good Tuesday, Tony and all! Missed about the 1st 10 minutes, or was it only 5 with the blackout? Either way, happy to be here amid rainy Bergen County.
Avatar 12:31pm
Tony Coulter:

As mentioned during my longwinded mic break, the thread connecting all the tracks on this comp is Alain Neffe: rateyourmusic.com...

He's in all these bands (except M.A.L.)

Sub Rosa will be releasing a set of archival Kosmose recordings (from the '70s) at some point soon-ish.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 12:54pm
listener james from westwood:

Would totally be starring this first untitled track were it an archive. Good stuff!
Avatar 12:56pm
Tony Coulter:

Glad you like-um, James! Yeah -- I guess starring would be rather pointless.

'Course, I can always play Tape Hiss tracks on my "regular" show too.
Avatar 12:59pm
Kay:

Is that a band-aid on that cassette tape?
Avatar 1:00pm
Tony Coulter:

The cassette on now is brand new -- but won't be around for long: they only made 200 copies, unfortunately.
Avatar 1:01pm
northguineahills:

Man, really dug Kosmose!
Avatar 1:02pm
Tony Coulter:

Heya, Kay! It's a bit of Chinese hell money! (Or whatever it's called -- fake bills that are made to be burned)
Avatar 1:04pm

Here's a short film with music by Kosmose!! www.youtube.com...

I can send the equivalent of $575 in Chinese hell money to IRS today, yes?

Yes! Don't forget to burn some incense too.

I already sent the IRS a bunch of Dogecoin, else I'd have sprung for the hell money.
Avatar 1:40pm
Tony Coulter:

IRS? What's the IRS?
Avatar 1:47pm
still b/p:

IRS is like Bene Gesserit, powerful and secretive, but less musical than the Belgian version and less stylish and matriarchal than the interplanetary version.
  1:50pm
MrFab:

I didn't mind giving my money to IRS when they were selling Suburban Lawns and Wall of Voodoo records.
Avatar 1:53pm
Tony Coulter:

Hey, MrFab! Discovered the other day that the good IRS also produced movies. Saw a weird George Segal movie released by IRS films.
Avatar 1:54pm
Tony Coulter:

Hmm. There are no pics of this Bernard Chappuis cassette on the Internets -- and, as I said, I'm having camera troubles. So, you'll just have to imagine what it looks like.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:55pm
Rich in Washington:

Did IRS have some involvement with the film URGH! A Music War (beyond the soundtrack)? Seems like they did.
Avatar 🥁 1:57pm
Rev. Turnip Druid:

WAAH, clearly I've missed a whopper-doodle of a show so far. & off to another meeting. I'll be huffing this one in the archive, to be sure. . . . .
Avatar 1:58pm
Tony Coulter:

@ Rich: Not sure - sounds likely. I'm blanking out on the name of the George Segal film -- but it was pretty good. It's about his romantic/sexual relationship with his next door neighbor, who happens to have multiple-personality disorder.
Avatar 1:59pm
Tony Coulter:

Hey Turnip! This show won't be archived, unfortunately. "Tape Hiss" shows never are -- by order of the powers that be.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:07pm
DCE:

Chappuis, brilliant!
Avatar 2:09pm
Tony Coulter:

Glad you like it! This tape is really obscure, but he has three other equally good releases: www.discogs.com...
  2:12pm
MrFab:

IRS Films, had no idea! Rich, I believe they did finance "Urgh!" but not in a blatant way, so it wouldn't look like they were making a feature-length commercial for IRS. And the film did feature plenty of non-IRS acts...but The Police were the only band with THREE songs (in the uncut version).
Avatar 2:17pm
Tony Coulter:

The George Segal film is called "Me, Myself, and I" -- and it was definitely released by IRS Records (just checked).
Avatar 🥁 2:17pm
Jeremy N:

Hi Tony! I am also digging Bernard C.
Avatar 2:18pm
Tony Coulter:

Heya, Jeremy!!
Avatar 2:18pm

Funny: I played a track featuring a typewriter last week as well.

Digging the whole set so far.
Avatar 2:20pm

Hola, Andrew! Glad to hear it!
Avatar 2:44pm

I like this Bernard Chappuis, reminds me of Wolf Eyes in their least frantic moments.
Avatar 2:48pm
Tony Coulter:

And now he's off to the arcade.

Sounds like an arcade. Who's got quarters?

Back inna 'phones!
...and but of course, no archive...
......missed a Human Flesh track up there as well..
Avatar 2:54pm

Well, the first two cassettes of today's show are still available. They were released last month!
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 2:56pm

Huge thanks for the show today, Tony! Great stuff!
Avatar 2:57pm

Thanks, James! And thanks to everybody for tuning in today! See you all next week-y!
