Probably because of when I grew up, I will forever associate organ music with roller skating.

He's the American cousin of Sgt Rock. Hola a todos.
Avatar    Mon. 4/14/14 7:07pm Rich in Washington:

Or pizza parlors.
We had The Olde Organ Grinder (which issued two peculiar LPs) and a creepy place in a big ex-cathedral called Uncle Milts. Both places had Mighty Wurlitzers in them.
  Mon. 4/14/14 7:07pm Phil:

When I was growing up LW was always on my grandparents TV. I was shocked to find reruns of it STILL playing in South Dakota on PBS station. Popular I guess...
Avatar Mon. 4/14/14 7:08pm Mr. Lowry:

I used to have this! Is it worth anything?

  Mon. 4/14/14 7:10pm Cliff:

Excellent background music for stoned taxes totaling time.
Avatar    Mon. 4/14/14 7:10pm People Like Us:

oh good! I thought she might have a DJ flashback since it played just as she was probably walking out of the studio
Avatar    Mon. 4/14/14 7:11pm Rich in Washington:

DJ Flashbacks are serious business
Avatar Mon. 4/14/14 7:12pm tim:

Yep, a DJ flashback... eyes rolled back, she went all pale. Scary stuff.
Avatar    Mon. 4/14/14 7:12pm People Like Us:

on the wfmu staff list there are many a DJ Nightmare recounted
Avatar Mon. 4/14/14 7:12pm dale:

my mother had a lowrey organ that cost something like $75,000 back in 1998. she was 73 and they gave her a 30 year loan - a 30 YEAR LOAN!!!! it looked like a 747 flight deck

Avatar    Mon. 4/14/14 7:13pm Rich in Washington:

It would be cool to see them compiled.
Avatar    Mon. 4/14/14 7:13pm Rich in Washington:

Everyone dreams of being a DJ but they don't want to know about their nightmares.

Chopin À La Moog, RCA, 1970. A favorite whenever it goes.
Avatar    Mon. 4/14/14 7:14pm People Like Us:

Avatar    Mon. 4/14/14 7:14pm Rich in Washington:

Avatar    Mon. 4/14/14 7:16pm People Like Us:

this show was inspired by a conversation about the album that this Stock, Hausen and Walkman track comes from
Avatar    Mon. 4/14/14 7:16pm People Like Us:

will look at links etc afterwards
Avatar    Mon. 4/14/14 7:16pm Rich in Washington:

I've had dreams where everything I thought I had packed in my crate had turned into something else. Something completely stupid and useless.
Avatar Mon. 4/14/14 7:16pm tim:

Mine (nightmare) is (of course) looking at a live board with no music ready. Nakedness is not an issue, as it is radio and that would not produce so much stress. (Am naked now, in fact... from the neck down.)
Avatar    Mon. 4/14/14 7:17pm People Like Us:

my DJ nightmares are completely pointless since I am not there
Avatar    Mon. 4/14/14 7:17pm People Like Us:

I am, however... here
Avatar    Mon. 4/14/14 7:17pm Rich in Washington:

Yeah, I've had the 'it's time to do my show and nothing's ready, cued up, etc' dream more than once.
Avatar Mon. 4/14/14 7:18pm tim:

Lucky you, Remote Controller! Which is why I always carry that Hans Wurman album.
Avatar    Mon. 4/14/14 7:18pm People Like Us:

I got very stressed about the marathon
Avatar    Mon. 4/14/14 7:19pm People Like Us:

a locked groove album is always a good antidote to nothing to play
Avatar    Mon. 4/14/14 7:19pm ironybread:

My DJ nightmare: There are only 2 45s in the station, and I've played them both.
Avatar Mon. 4/14/14 7:19pm Kat in Chicago:

I've had a radio show late Monday nights for a year now but haven't had a full-on DJ Nightmare yet. Except in the actual studio during the actual show when some bit of gear craps out on me, but I believe those are filed under Egregious Technical Errors
Avatar    Mon. 4/14/14 7:19pm Rich in Washington:

I was once sleeping while listening to a streaming radio station when the song I used to use to intro my show came on and I immediately had the 'I'm due to go on but not ready' dream and jumped out of bed.
Avatar    Mon. 4/14/14 7:19pm People Like Us:

yes, I have had the same one - a carrier bag only filled with Marc Almond LPs (although I like him, that is somehow beside the point)
Avatar Mon. 4/14/14 7:20pm Mr. Lowry:

Am I the only non-DJ here?
Avatar    Mon. 4/14/14 7:20pm People Like Us:

I figure I must have freaked out Bronwyn at 2 mins past the top of the hour with her old themetune
Avatar    Mon. 4/14/14 7:20pm People Like Us:

no :)
Avatar Mon. 4/14/14 7:20pm Kat in Chicago:

I think my job nightmares are crowding out my DJ nightmares
Avatar Mon. 4/14/14 7:20pm tim:

Marc Almond is the thinking person's Hans Wurman.
Avatar    Mon. 4/14/14 7:21pm Rich in Washington:

The recurring one I have now is that I am doing late night radio and step out for a smoke and lock myself outside and no one's there to let me in. This has actually happened to others but not me (yet).
Avatar    Mon. 4/14/14 7:21pm ironybread:

Mr. Lowry - this is easy enough to remedy; just move to Moscow, Idaho and become a volunteer DJ at their local free-format station, KUOI.
Avatar    Mon. 4/14/14 7:21pm Rich in Washington:

What if your Marc Almond records turned into Mark Almond records?
  Mon. 4/14/14 7:21pm ranjit:

"Hans Wurman" is German for "Marc Almond"
  Mon. 4/14/14 7:22pm Phil:

I don't dj except in my dreams. I do a little sound board for live music sometimes.
Avatar    Mon. 4/14/14 7:22pm ironybread:

Avatar    Mon. 4/14/14 7:23pm People Like Us:

Avatar Mon. 4/14/14 7:25pm tim:

Check out "The Flipside of Satan" a Night Gallery episode which featured Artie Johnson.
  Mon. 4/14/14 7:26pm Phil:

Not to change the subject, but gotta tell Vicki that last weeks Sean Landers is totally embedded into my subconscious. Just love it. Classic.
Avatar    Mon. 4/14/14 7:27pm People Like Us:

there is a lot of satanic organ music
I was going to play Anton La Vey but he got ousted by Lenny Dee
Avatar Mon. 4/14/14 7:27pm dale:

is night gallery streaming or on netflix?
Avatar    Mon. 4/14/14 7:28pm People Like Us:

  Mon. 4/14/14 7:30pm Phil:

I've downloaded from Ubu and re-listened over and over. He's really quite a REAL artist. I like his paintings a lot actually. Clowns in row boats at sea.. Etc
Avatar Mon. 4/14/14 7:32pm tim:

Anton La Vey is easy to displace.
  Mon. 4/14/14 7:32pm Phil:

I love the fake and sincere angst of the under appreciated artist
