Avatar Mon. 4/7/14 3:06pm Bas NL:

Hi Scott! I'm ready for some lavish music.. ;)
Avatar Mon. 4/7/14 3:07pm the glowing one:

Impossible! No matter how clean the record might be, if it's funk it's dirty.
Avatar Mon. 4/7/14 3:08pm DCE:

this will be played at my funeral. hopefully not soon.
Avatar Mon. 4/7/14 3:08pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

ESS DOUBLE-YEW!
Avatar Mon. 4/7/14 3:09pm Scott Williams:

Avatar Mon. 4/7/14 3:10pm chris:

Avatar Mon. 4/7/14 3:12pm Yair Yona:

Avatar Mon. 4/7/14 3:12pm Gaylord Fields:

Sounds like somebody's momma just died.
Avatar Mon. 4/7/14 3:12pm Scott Williams:

Avatar Mon. 4/7/14 3:16pm Gaylord Fields:

Scott, I can't think of a better tribute for recently deceased mommas Mickey Rooney, Peaches Geldof, and John Pinette.
Avatar Mon. 4/7/14 3:18pm Scott Williams:

and Leee Black Childers
Avatar Mon. 4/7/14 3:18pm Matt from Springfield:

Whoa shit! You weren't kidding about Peaches. We all pretty much know "why", now I'm waiting for the "what" of her death..
Avatar Mon. 4/7/14 3:21pm Gaylord Fields:

@Scott: Yes, Leee Black Childers was the maggot-brained momma of 'em all! Death and taxes, indeed, one week before April 15th.
Avatar Mon. 4/7/14 3:22pm Yair Yona:

What a brilliant version of Thrasher!
Avatar Mon. 4/7/14 3:23pm Scott Williams:

Hello Yair! Yeah, it's gorgeous, innit?
Avatar Mon. 4/7/14 3:26pm Matt from Springfield:

Gorgeous--like the original sound channeled through a phantasmagorical tremolo.
Avatar Mon. 4/7/14 3:27pm Yair Yona:

It is! but that Wyatt track, on man. I gotta get my filthy hands on this album.
Avatar Mon. 4/7/14 3:30pm steve:

Avatar Mon. 4/7/14 3:31pm Scott Williams:

ha! Good call Steve
Avatar Mon. 4/7/14 3:35pm steve:

someone needs to make edits of this and same era Black Dice with a throbbing 4/4 techno beat behind it. i might just have to be the one to do it.
Avatar Mon. 4/7/14 3:35pm Carmichael:

Hi Scott, hello Others.
Avatar Mon. 4/7/14 3:37pm northguineahills:

steve is full of good ideas today. Growing does remind me of random warehouse and vacant lot parties of the mid-noughts.
Avatar Mon. 4/7/14 3:37pm Matt from Springfield:

I am Other, in all measurable ways.
Avatar Mon. 4/7/14 3:38pm Matt from Springfield:

Avatar Mon. 4/7/14 5:02pm doca:

@Ken: Boney M spaceship keeps swinging to create gravity and the impression of daytime/nighttime flow
  Mon. 4/7/14 5:03pm Tony:

When I visited Budapest some years ago I was told that under communism in Hungary there were only two western bands that people were allowed to listen to. One was the Beatles, the other Boney M.
Avatar Mon. 4/7/14 5:06pm Ken From Hyde Park:

@doca - Good to know that. Rocket science to the rescue!
Avatar Mon. 4/7/14 5:07pm doca:

@Ken: it's like those space Globetrotters from Futurama
Avatar Mon. 4/7/14 5:10pm northguineahills:

Deekay Jones, new to me, and frickin' awesome!
Avatar Mon. 4/7/14 5:12pm chris:

Depeche Ketamine
Avatar Mon. 4/7/14 5:13pm mariano:

@Tony: Interesting! Made me think of a blog I stumbled onto a while back, by a BBC film maker who specializes in Cold War era stuff. He has a section on a guy named Dean Reed, aka the Red Elvis, an American 60s pop singer who defected to East Germany then moved to Russia and became the establishment rock star in the USSR and the rest of the bloc. Really interesting story, the Dean Reed bit starts on the paragraph below the first two vids: www.bbc.co.uk...
Avatar Mon. 4/7/14 5:29pm northguineahills:

This is on Kranky? nice!
Avatar Mon. 4/7/14 5:29pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

lovely.
Avatar Mon. 4/7/14 5:32pm Carmichael:

I found the Reed bio, Comrade Rockstar, at the 99 cent store a few years ago. Pretty interesting story.
Avatar Mon. 4/7/14 5:38pm mariano:

@Carmichael: Hmm... I wonder if FMU has ever done a show on Eastern Bloc music. Time to search the archives!
  Mon. 4/7/14 5:39pm cgoldm:

i love this band
Avatar Mon. 4/7/14 5:41pm mariano:

Gaa! Apparently Jason Elbogen's 2007 marathon premium was a compilation of Eastern Bloc new wave bands from the 80s. Me want!
Avatar Mon. 4/7/14 5:42pm chris:

Summer night at the steele factory, if Klara Lewis is still looking for a title for this sweet track.
Avatar Mon. 4/7/14 5:51pm Risky:

Yeah Scott!, blistening on my back... Best monday ever.
Avatar Mon. 4/7/14 5:52pm Whosondephone:

God, I love it when Scott Williams gets synthesisey.
Avatar Mon. 4/7/14 5:53pm Scott Williams:

haa, thanks Risky! @chris, can't tell if it's a typo, but Klara Lewis appears to call that track "untilted". get it?
Avatar Mon. 4/7/14 5:54pm Carmichael:

I am wearing black and pursing my lips.
Avatar Mon. 4/7/14 5:55pm efd:

  Mon. 4/7/14 5:55pm SL:

Avatar Mon. 4/7/14 5:57pm Matt from Springfield:

No ezcapin' from the Devil's Love Gun.

@Scott: That has happened before! A drawback to vinyl when the bass is heavy.
  Mon. 4/7/14 5:58pm SL:

I was there! Ken forgot he scheduled you and I for the same slot. I was happy to acquiesce! :-)
Avatar Mon. 4/7/14 5:59pm Risky:

I put the Hip on Rohynol
  Mon. 4/7/14 5:59pm Tony:

@Mariano: A long time ago Plastic People of the Universe were on the Stork Club, and there was discussion of what it was like to be a rock band under communism.
Avatar Mon. 4/7/14 5:59pm steve:

clap clap clap
Avatar Mon. 4/7/14 5:59pm Matt from Springfield:
