Brilliantly brave springboard into the show, Matt.
Avatar Thu. 4/3/14 2:12pm Monica:

yo, matt! awesome open. my dad took me to "the producers" in 1968 when it opened in chicago. one of those grand old theaters in the loop. made me feel like a grown-up that he thought i was mature enough for it.
  Thu. 4/3/14 2:15pm Richard Move:

These guys can't play a proper monkey beat.
Avatar Thu. 4/3/14 2:16pm Matt F:

Avatar Thu. 4/3/14 2:24pm Matt F:

Wow Mo! Must have been a great show, judging from the live stuff from then that I've heard...
Avatar Thu. 4/3/14 2:26pm still b/p:

I put Sub-Mission on a mix cassette in about '77 or '78. It was the only Sex Pistols song ever in my possession.
Avatar Thu. 4/3/14 2:31pm KevinfromBayRidge:

Hello Matt & all malingerers, Crap ! I missed Springtime for Hitler. The Producers might be part of the collective consciousness that helped create modern day FMU.
Avatar Thu. 4/3/14 2:35pm Gary:

Sweet Nina & Frederik track
Avatar Thu. 4/3/14 2:35pm fleep:

I am not malingering. I am loitering. Shoo shoo, little bird.
Avatar Thu. 4/3/14 2:38pm Monica:

spring has officially sprung as of 2pm today.
Avatar Thu. 4/3/14 2:39pm Matt F:

Didn't know it was official today!
Avatar Thu. 4/3/14 2:40pm northguineahills:

Avatar Thu. 4/3/14 2:45pm Monica:

Avatar Thu. 4/3/14 2:49pm Matt F:

This show makes everything a little off-ish.
Avatar Thu. 4/3/14 2:51pm Uncle Michael:

I'm feeling a little oafish.
  Thu. 4/3/14 2:52pm Maslaki:

Can't how much great music I never heard in my 66 years...
Avatar Thu. 4/3/14 2:53pm kat330:

@Monica: You got company in me as a throwback. Been a few years now where there are far fewer people who could *not* be my children age-wise than who could. ;)
Avatar Thu. 4/3/14 2:54pm listener james from westwood:

On Bethany's show next week, it's rumored she's gonna get a little Orff-ish.
Avatar Thu. 4/3/14 2:55pm KevinfromBayRidge:

Howz'bout namingthe show " Matt Five 0ff-ish. Fleep-I Chose to Malinger. Sorry to cast any aspersions.
Avatar Thu. 4/3/14 2:55pm glenn:

has anybody thought of putting out a collection of all the great tunes the cobras have covered?
Avatar Thu. 4/3/14 2:57pm KevinfromBayRidge:

kat, kinda think we're in a throwback-zone heah!
Avatar Thu. 4/3/14 2:58pm kat330:

@KfBR: Yeah, people say that, and then reveal they are still a decade younger. (But then Philo's two decades younger, so I'm comfortable up and down. ;)
Avatar Thu. 4/3/14 3:02pm Matt F:

Glenn, that would be a great comp.
Avatar Thu. 4/3/14 3:03pm listener james from westwood:

And here i am thinking, how is the 2nd hour gonna be better than the 1st, and you bust out ike?! Aw yiss...
Avatar Thu. 4/3/14 3:04pm Uncle Michael:

Is this gonna be the looooooooooooooooooong version?
Avatar Thu. 4/3/14 3:04pm kat330:

@LJfW: Are you aware that you cannot fugue Orff.
Avatar Thu. 4/3/14 3:05pm Monica:

@kat330, right on.
Avatar Thu. 4/3/14 3:06pm Matt F:

UM- Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo.
Avatar Thu. 4/3/14 3:08pm Uncle Michael:

I love you anyway, Matt.
Avatar Thu. 4/3/14 3:10pm KevinfromBayRidge:

kat, Not an age, but a state of mind!
Avatar Thu. 4/3/14 3:12pm kat330:

@Kevin: Yep, it most certainly is! Only wish my state were not Indiana.

@Monica: :)
Avatar Thu. 4/3/14 3:20pm kat330:

Philo got me a CD for my b'day that I like quite a lot. I imagine it's not news for any of you, and WFPK locally has been playing them for several weeks (months?), but I recommend Lake Street Dive for a listen. Great lead singer in Rachael Price and an all around great sound.
  Thu. 4/3/14 3:23pm Josh:

I never was a trifin man.
Avatar Thu. 4/3/14 3:24pm Matt F:

Here ya go Maslaki!
Avatar Thu. 4/3/14 3:25pm kat330:

Cajun music can't help but provoke a smile.
Avatar Thu. 4/3/14 3:26pm Doug Schulkind:

To paraphrase Mr. Abshire, this good-time radio is killing me, Matt.
Avatar Thu. 4/3/14 3:27pm Uncle Michael:

Looks wet in Pittsburgh, Doug.
  Thu. 4/3/14 3:29pm Maslaki:

Thanks Matt!
Avatar Thu. 4/3/14 3:31pm Doug Schulkind:

You're just saying that because the Pirates lost to the Cubs, Uncle Michael.
Avatar Thu. 4/3/14 3:33pm Uncle Michael:

Well, it appeared to be raining, irrespective of the outcome.
Avatar Thu. 4/3/14 3:33pm KevinfromBayRidge:

Doug, Then it's a deluge in Queens!
Avatar Thu. 4/3/14 3:34pm KevinfromBayRidge:

Sunny in Bklyn though!
Avatar Thu. 4/3/14 3:35pm Uncle Michael:

I don't know that I've ever heard the recording that was the basis for the Last Waltz performance before now.
Avatar Thu. 4/3/14 3:35pm glenn:

ronnie hawkins' farm is for sale, matt. you and amanda could buy it and raise dogs. and goats.
Avatar Thu. 4/3/14 3:37pm kat330:

@Kevin: Probably heading your way. We've had a very rainy day here today, but it was glorious the 4 days prior.
Avatar Thu. 4/3/14 3:38pm Doug Schulkind:

@KevinfromBayRidge
Looks like the whole team should be on paternity leave.
Avatar Thu. 4/3/14 3:39pm Doug Schulkind:

Speaking of baseball, does anybody have any experience selling baseball cards?
Avatar Thu. 4/3/14 3:40pm earrie:

Pah tum-tum.
Avatar Thu. 4/3/14 3:42pm earrie:

(lag all over me..testing <ksssht>)
Avatar Thu. 4/3/14 3:44pm Maslaki:

Did not know Sir Douglas covered this. Who recorded it originally?
Avatar Thu. 4/3/14 3:44pm Monica:

agree about David Johansen & the Harry Smiths. caught me totally off-guard, he should do more in that vein.
Avatar Thu. 4/3/14 3:45pm Matt F:

Maslaki, I think Andre Williams did it first.
Avatar Thu. 4/3/14 3:47pm Matt F:

Mo, I saw them once in a small club. So good. Also saw David Jo doing Howlin' Wolf covers w/ Hubert Sumlin, and Levon Helm on drums.
Avatar Thu. 4/3/14 3:52pm northguineahills:

My bros. got a few thousand for their collection 14 years ago, but the market for baseball cards is still rather weak.
Avatar Thu. 4/3/14 3:53pm kat330:

@Matt: Rollicking good fun as usual! Have a great spring weekend all.
Avatar Thu. 4/3/14 3:53pm northguineahills:

My bad, 16 years ago, before the market really fell out for cards.
Avatar Thu. 4/3/14 3:59pm Monica:

excellence in programming, matt!
Avatar Thu. 4/3/14 3:59pm listener james from westwood:

Thanks, Matt! Enjoyed the ride into the show's spring season!
Avatar Thu. 4/3/14 3:59pm Maslaki:

Great sets--I really needed that...
Avatar Thu. 4/3/14 3:59pm glenn:

no, but i have experience of my uncle giving me his entire collection of mint baseball cards from the 40's and 50's and then having my dad throw them away.
Avatar Thu. 4/3/14 3:59pm Uncle Michael:

Thank you Matt. You slayed part of my day for me.
Avatar Thu. 4/3/14 4:00pm Doug Schulkind:

@northguineahills
Did they sell to a store? On Ebay? Did they pay to have them rated?
Avatar Thu. 4/3/14 4:00pm MattBelow:

Great set today Fiveash!
Avatar Thu. 4/3/14 4:03pm northguineahills:
