Indeed, Simon! And it reminds me that I need to make a nice pot roast some time soon, it's been too long. Only problem is I'm liable to eat the whole damn thing in less than a day.

Googled it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:44pm

It would be interesting to do a whole show of songs with hard-to-guess (or Google) mystery vocalists, and challenge listeners to see how many they could identify. With prizes!
  10:48pm
Mdurek:

@pss also won of crappy live performances from normally tight bands.

Avatar 11:09pm
Droll:

That was the Dead?! Why do people listen to all that noodling instead of this? I shouldn't be surprised, any band that spends that much time playing eventually learns to play. Indeed, that's what killed punk.
  11:11pm
Ralphine:

Some people don't know about this. Some people like all that noodling better than they like this.

  11:14pm

One of my favorite dead tracks was terrapin station. Nicely produced and sculpted. Jerry's noodling was next level though imho. Motives upon motives and themes upon themes. Moslty on the spot.
Avatar 11:15pm
Droll:

Happy B-day DM! Add a birthday cupcake to the list of things I owe you.
  11:16pm
Mdurek:

Totally didn't expect them to brand that as the dead though. Haha. Shoulda made another side project.
  11:16pm
Ralphine:

Terrapin Station was the song that led me to Dick's Picks on Spotify.
Avatar 11:16pm

And many more Dave!!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:16pm

Me, my favorite Dead show was the benefit they did for Ken Kesey's brother's Oregon dairy farm about '73. Other than that, things here and there. The version of "Bertha" on the "Skull And Roses" album. Various live versions of "China Cat Sunflower".
Avatar 11:17pm
Dave Mandl:

@Mdurek: Gracias.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:18pm
pacific standard simon:

And also, best birthday wishes, Dave. If RRabbitN63 were here, he would probably add his Aries-related comments.
  11:19pm

@pss will have to check that! @droll have you heard terrapin? You might dig if less noodling is your taste.
Avatar 11:19pm

In my opinion...Miles and his crazy wife went crazy shortly after this shiaaitt...the boy shoulld have listened to his mother!!!...hehehe...:)O(:..
Avatar 11:20pm

My favorite dead show was Deer Creek sometime around 89-90. The guy next to me explained how Jerry had only worn those black short at two other shows: Vermont and North Carolina. Some dude was swimming through the audience at incredible speed but somehow it just worked. Balloons were $5, tix were easy to find, I didn't lose my shoes in the parking lot, etc... Good show.
  11:20pm
Mdurek:

@ ralphine yet another thing to check. :) so much great art in the World
Avatar 11:22pm

@pss: Not quite.
Avatar 11:28pm
Droll:

ccrides, I totally agree -- the Dead were noodlers. Phish could really play. They generally noodled, but one only need watch their performance of Watcher of the Skies from Genesis' RRHF induction to see they have The Goods.
  11:30pm
Mdurek:

Great show thanks Dave ! Thanks all good interesting opinions and suggestions.
  11:30pm
