  Sun. 3/23/14 10:03pm P-90:

Evenin' DJ Dave
Avatar Sun. 3/23/14 10:03pm pacific standard simon:

Dis is da place!
Avatar Sun. 3/23/14 10:07pm Dave Mandl:

Hey @pss, @P-90.
  Sun. 3/23/14 10:09pm Carmichael:

Actually, space is the place. But i will take my place in this place any time there is space available.
  Sun. 3/23/14 10:10pm 12539:

Whew, made it in time for the final stretch.
Avatar Sun. 3/23/14 10:12pm Dave Mandl:

Evening @Carimchael, @12539.
Avatar Sun. 3/23/14 10:17pm pacific standard simon:

Stretching before a workout is recommended.
Avatar Sun. 3/23/14 10:22pm JakeGould:

Kate Bush is touring! She’s 55 years old! She can stretch! And she can kick inside! She’s 55!
Avatar Sun. 3/23/14 10:22pm pacific standard simon:

But can she drive 55?
Avatar Sun. 3/23/14 10:24pm JakeGould:

Hmmm… Sammy Hagar & Kate Bush? I don’t need to think about that.
Avatar Sun. 3/23/14 10:39pm pacific standard simon:

This music... I picture shredded fingernails.
Avatar Sun. 3/23/14 10:43pm Droll:

I'd listen to Kate Bush sing 3 Lock Box. "Suckers walk, money talks, but it can't touch my three lock box...Treasure's here, sunken there, buried treasures everywhere. One, two, three lock box. " She'd find a way to make it sound serious.
  Sun. 3/23/14 11:02pm bloopy:

Hey Dave!!! :D
  Sun. 3/23/14 11:02pm ifny:

Thanks for the Gurdjieff! Meep meep meep.
Avatar Sun. 3/23/14 11:05pm Droll:

. o O ( Was the conversation killer Sammy Hagar or Kate Bush or the music or some combination? I'm betting on Sammy. )
Avatar Sun. 3/23/14 11:06pm pacific standard simon:

I strained my chatter last night, on Faye's show.
  Sun. 3/23/14 11:06pm 12539:

Mongo's ok.
Avatar Sun. 3/23/14 11:07pm Dave Mandl:

Hey Jake, Droll, ifny, bloopy.
Avatar Sun. 3/23/14 11:07pm Dave Mandl:

@pss: That's OK!
Avatar Sun. 3/23/14 11:07pm Droll:

[Disco Ball switched on] A bit jazzy for disco.
Avatar Sun. 3/23/14 11:09pm pacific standard simon:

Say, Droll -- I was taking a big walk on the first day of Spring, and I spotted a car parked at an apartment building, sporting an old WFMU bumpersticker. So I'm not the only station supporter on the island!
Avatar Sun. 3/23/14 11:12pm pacific standard simon:

Kebnekajse? Tell us more, Dave.
Avatar Sun. 3/23/14 11:14pm Dave Mandl:

@pss: Swedish group, early '70s. I don't know an awful lot about them.
Avatar Sun. 3/23/14 11:15pm Droll:

pss, Good luck tracking them down. I wear FMU shirts all the time hoping some listener will introduce themselves but it hasn't happened once in 10+ years, and I've never seen anyone else in one.

A year or two ago I was walking by the KEXP studios and got a sour look from someone walking into the station when they saw my shirt.
Avatar Sun. 3/23/14 11:15pm Dave Mandl:

... The liner notes are completely in Swedish!
  Sun. 3/23/14 11:17pm ifny:

That must be the sweet sound of Clara Rockmore....?
Avatar Sun. 3/23/14 11:17pm Droll:

DM, Your Swedish listeners would translate it for you if you'd only post a picture. Speaking of which I like your Elevated Landscapes series.
  Sun. 3/23/14 11:18pm ifny:

Oh wow, I was wrong. I was wondering why I'd never heard it before...
Avatar Sun. 3/23/14 11:18pm Dave Mandl:

@Droll: Why, thank you.
Avatar Sun. 3/23/14 11:19pm pacific standard simon:

Some months ago, I was in line at T+C Market with my FMU shoulder-bag and someone shouted "WFMU!" while walking by; might have been the owner of the car.
Avatar Sun. 3/23/14 11:22pm Droll:

pss, Do people still leave the keys in the ignition of their car while they're shopping at T&C? I miss Fantasy Island.
Avatar Sun. 3/23/14 11:23pm pacific standard simon:

There's a Wikipedia entry, with a link to an interview at ProgArchives.
  Sun. 3/23/14 11:31pm earrie:

Hm. Dva.
Two.

And heyy - http://dva2.bandcamp.com/album/live-at-wfmu
Avatar Sun. 3/23/14 11:32pm Dave Mandl:

@earrie: Yeah, they thank us on the new CD, which is nice of them.
  Sun. 3/23/14 11:33pm 12539:

Roy in full effect!
Avatar Sun. 3/23/14 11:34pm Dave Mandl:

@12539: You got it!
Avatar Sun. 3/23/14 11:35pm Dave Mandl:

(Roy Ayers, that is,)
  Sun. 3/23/14 11:43pm 12539:

Dave, did you have to get permission from Faye +/or Bethany to play a classical piano piece?
Avatar Sun. 3/23/14 11:44pm Dave Mandl:

@12539: Shhhhhh...
Avatar Sun. 3/23/14 11:44pm Droll:

12539, HA! I was just thinking only Bethany plays classical piano music!
  Sun. 3/23/14 11:46pm 12539:

Faye usually plays one quiet piano piece per show. I think she leases them from Bethany, though.
Avatar Sun. 3/23/14 11:46pm pacific standard simon:

Every show should have at least one.
Avatar Sun. 3/23/14 11:49pm Droll:

If Dave starts playing brass we'll need to turn him in for infringement. The only strings he's supposed to play are Mellotron, and that's closely monitored.
Avatar Sun. 3/23/14 11:57pm Droll:

The reverb in that organ was as long as the piece itself!
Thanks for the Final Stretch, DM, have a fun week.
  Sun. 3/23/14 11:58pm P-90:

Tip-top quality show AGAIN, really impressive and a real pleasure to listen to. Thanks DJ Dave!
  Sun. 3/23/14 11:58pm 12539:

Thanks, Dave.

I wonder if I'll ever get used to the two hour slot.
Avatar Sun. 3/23/14 11:59pm pacific standard simon:

Ah Dave -- show always too short, but there's always next week. Thank you for making the long trek to the station and picking out good music.
  Mon. 3/24/14 12:00am earrie:

That hour floats on.
Avatar Mon. 3/24/14 12:01am Dave Mandl:

Thanks! Night, folks. Have a great week.
