Patiently awaiting rhinos and forks.
Avatar Tue. 3/18/14 11:56am Tony Coulter:

Heya Carmichael! Today only it'll be hippos and spoons.
Avatar Tue. 3/18/14 11:59am Doug Schulkind:

@Carmichael
I think you may find an altogether different animal in the lead-off spot. (I am sworn to secrecy.)
Avatar Tue. 3/18/14 12:01pm V Priceless:

Hey Tony! Doug! Carmichael!
Avatar Tue. 3/18/14 12:02pm DCE:

for some reason I thought capyburas were hilarious when I was a teenager....hi Tony!
Avatar Tue. 3/18/14 12:02pm Tony Coulter:

Hey ho, Doug & V Priceless!
Avatar Tue. 3/18/14 12:02pm Ike:

Hey Tony. Trouble just threw down the gauntlet for ridiculous lyrics today with some Brett Smiley. I'm wondering if you can beat that.
Avatar Tue. 3/18/14 12:03pm Doug Schulkind:

Hello Tony, you capycat you!
Avatar Tue. 3/18/14 12:04pm pierre:

I not often say that,
but Rest in Peace Gary Burger.

not a lot of bands are important like The Monks important.
Avatar Tue. 3/18/14 12:04pm pierre:

Bonjour Tony !
Avatar Tue. 3/18/14 12:04pm Tony Coulter:

Hola, Ike! Methinks this capybara song may put me in the lead.
Avatar Tue. 3/18/14 12:05pm Tony Coulter:

Bonjour, Pierre. Yes, indeed, RIP Gary Burger.
Avatar Tue. 3/18/14 12:07pm Gary:

... but will the hippos be *playing* the spoons?
Avatar Tue. 3/18/14 12:07pm still b/p:

Capybaras "often exceeding four feet in length"....! Saddle up!
Avatar Tue. 3/18/14 12:09pm Tony Coulter:

Hola hey ho, Gary and still b/p!

No spoon-playing hippos, no -- but they will be tap-dancing.
  Tue. 3/18/14 12:11pm MrFab:

Not more than 15 minutes ago I was thinking about Esquivel. I turn on the GTDS stream and what do I hear? Get out of my head, Tony!
Avatar Tue. 3/18/14 12:11pm Jeff Golick:

Hey, Tony. Love that the Rascal Reporters have come back from the future to say goodbye to TEAC. (Check year of release.)
Avatar Tue. 3/18/14 12:13pm Tony Coulter:

Hey MrFab & Jeff!

That Rascal Reporters track is probably from the late '70s/early '80s, but was unreleased until now.
Avatar Tue. 3/18/14 12:15pm Rich in Washington:

Non Credo was a great, really underrated band.
Avatar Tue. 3/18/14 12:15pm Tony Coulter:

oops-- now I get you, Jeff!
Avatar Tue. 3/18/14 12:18pm Tony Coulter:

Hey Rich! I know you played Non Credo on a fill-in you did for me. Was that maybe the very cut you played?
Avatar Tue. 3/18/14 12:19pm Rich in Washington:

Maybe. I think that album. That's one of my faves..
I think they're still active...?
Avatar Tue. 3/18/14 12:24pm Tony Coulter:

So, I've been off coffee for a week. Right now I'm getting a powerful urge to swig some down -- but I shall resist.
Avatar Tue. 3/18/14 12:28pm Jeff Golick:

Why no coffee, Tony??!! It's my sole remaining vice!
Avatar Tue. 3/18/14 12:28pm Gary:

Why have you been off coffee?
Avatar Tue. 3/18/14 12:31pm Tony Coulter:

Probably not a permanent abstention. Had a nasty case of food poisoning a week ago, so had to swear off just about everything. Kind of liked breaking the coffee dependence cycle, at least temporarily. Makes me feel master of my destiny.
Avatar Tue. 3/18/14 12:32pm Rich in Washington:

Yikes! Where'd you get food poisoning at?
Avatar Tue. 3/18/14 12:33pm Tony Coulter:

Haven't been able to pinpoint it for sure, tho I have my suspicions.
Avatar Tue. 3/18/14 12:34pm Gary:

Ah, I remember hearing you'd gotten food poisoning. Back when I used to smoke, I would quit every time I had a serious illness -- maybe once every two or three years.
Avatar Tue. 3/18/14 12:35pm Rich in Washington:

It's nice to kick off of drugs once in a while. The make-up high is really good.
Avatar Tue. 3/18/14 12:36pm Carmichael:

Tony, my avatar was the culprit for me this weekend. I'm giving it a public flogging today as part of its penance.
Avatar Tue. 3/18/14 12:38pm Jeff Golick:

But it looks so delicious, Carmichael!
Avatar Tue. 3/18/14 12:38pm pacific standard simon:

So you know, I'm here today, listening. Just not feeling very chatty.
Avatar Tue. 3/18/14 12:39pm Rich in Washington:

Carmichael, did you get chronic burritoitis?
Avatar Tue. 3/18/14 12:40pm Whooda:

Have stumbled into yet another cave in the maze that is incredible music to spelunker by. Just great DJ Tony Coulter.
Avatar Tue. 3/18/14 12:40pm V Priceless:

Avatar Tue. 3/18/14 12:42pm Tony Coulter:

Avatar Tue. 3/18/14 12:43pm still b/p:

The album after that one was Ziggy Stardust and the Capybaras from Mars, yes?
Avatar Tue. 3/18/14 12:44pm Tony Coulter:

Hey, Kurt! Yep, it's all hits, all the time.
Avatar Tue. 3/18/14 12:44pm Jeff Golick:

Re the Cap'n: anyone know if these Beefheart remasters (via the Zappa Family Trust store) are worth the $20 price tag? barfkoswill.shop.musictoday.com...
Avatar Tue. 3/18/14 12:44pm Rich in Washington:

Bowie's music went downhill when he abandoned all the critter references...
Avatar Tue. 3/18/14 12:49pm Carmichael:

Rich, whatever it was, it was indeed chronic. I'm still not back to my usual diet of kimchee, deviled eggs, Boston baked beans and Lowenbrau dark. For breakfast.
Avatar Tue. 3/18/14 12:53pm northguineahills:

I used to be able to eat absolutely anything w/o repercussions until I got a severe stomach bug when I was 16. It took me a year to just to eat complex carbohydrates w/o getting sick. Today, I can't eat anything too sweet and am now lactose intolerant. (at least I can eat chilies).
  Tue. 3/18/14 12:55pm Dean:

Arzachel! Killer record!
Avatar Tue. 3/18/14 12:57pm Tony Coulter:

Heya Dean! I'm trying to track down the expanded version that came out a couple of years ago -- has a bunch of bonus tracks.
  Tue. 3/18/14 12:57pm Dean:

I believe the band is Uriel, though.
  Tue. 3/18/14 12:58pm Dean:

Yeesh! I have two copies of the reissued CD. This is a frequent problem for me: I buy dupes, particularly when recordings are repackaged. But I don't believe either disk goes beyond the original. Must find the bonus version!
Avatar Tue. 3/18/14 12:59pm Tony Coulter:

Yep, you're right. For contractual reasons the album was released under a made-up band name, and with ridiculous pseudonyms for the musicians.
Avatar Tue. 3/18/14 1:00pm pacific standard simon:

Who gave Ringo Starr a prog band to sing for?
  Tue. 3/18/14 1:01pm Dean:

See this for the remastered issue with bonus tracks: http://www.egg-archive.com/

Funny: I bought the dupe copy from the Egg Archive before they remastered.

Thanks, Dean!
