Avatar Mon. 3/17/14 9:40am Alessia:

Guido flea markets are the best way to spend the weekend! We spend ours planting vegetables hoping that the music from Big Star and YLT will help them growing strong.

This White sounds kinda tan but isn't it always that way?
Avatar Mon. 3/17/14 9:45am braveness23:

I feel like this set list has me on a war path. If this set has anything to say about it this morning is going to end in violence. I'm already sharpening my pencils and lining them up next to my mouse pad.

@Guido : terra-cotta pot, and a mix of ground and fertilizer should do the trick. I hope it'll grow nicely. (also, specially on balconies) wind can be a problem.

The first Polvo comeback album sounded a little bit too Nu-metal.

@ Jason : super sweet to hear the FAUST bed music again
Avatar    Mon. 3/17/14 9:56am Cecile:

I have learned to love thyme recently, and it does better in our climate than rosemary. You would think oregano and lavender would be tough here, nope. They are very delicate and never come back.

I agree with @pierre. Love the bed music.

mint, you just can't kill. you have to plant it in a pot or it'll choke everything out.
Avatar Mon. 3/17/14 9:59am βrian:

My Gawd, If I were allergic to rosemary, I'd just give up and cash it in. She is my muse and reminds me of Provence. As does Thyme. Ah, the scents of summer...

It might be true, if the meals are not becoming too delicious.

@pierre
thanks for the tip. I will try that out.

@Cecile
I was never satisfied with the aroma of my homegrown oregano.
Mint is a beast of a plant but itneeds shadow. My balcony is southside with light all day.
Mint dries out in summer hopelessly.
Avatar Mon. 3/17/14 10:00am βrian:

I wish I liked sage more, because it's beautiful and flourishes against all odds. Tough little bugger.
Avatar    Mon. 3/17/14 10:00am Cheri Pi:

I have been lucky enough to have a large rosemary plant in my kitchen window all winter long. This weekend we planted Basil, lavendar, aubergine, thyme, zuccini and kohlrabi seeds. We also bought a hydroponic fish tank and this weekend I became a new parent to Yngwie Satriani, the veil-tailed beta.
Avatar    Mon. 3/17/14 10:01am Cheri Pi:

Mint is for suckers. the only way to get rid of it is to move. Don't do it!
Avatar    Mon. 3/17/14 10:01am Cecile:

Pi! I sent you a potted rhubarb plant.
Avatar Mon. 3/17/14 10:02am braveness23:

@Cecile I went to a conference a couple weeks ago and attended a session on growing Mediterranean herbs in our climate. The Mediterranean and Ohio climates almost couldn't be more different. My rosemary, oregano and lavender survived the last two winters but this year they are dead, dead, dead.
Avatar Mon. 3/17/14 10:03am pierre:

I hear you with all the plant Cheri Pi, we've been doing some aubergine, pepper, tomatoes but the plenty, gerkins, zucchini… all the cool summer stuff

and regarding herb, Sage has my vote. I just love it.
Avatar    Mon. 3/17/14 10:03am Cecile:

Sage is great, but you always have way more than you need.

Guido, we have big ol shade trees where our mint (when we have it) just flourishes.
Avatar Mon. 3/17/14 10:03am tim from champaign:

How is the latest Polvo album? I missed the song while getting coffee.
Avatar    Mon. 3/17/14 10:04am Cheri Pi:

Thanks Cecile! I'm not used to these fancy heirloom varietals
Avatar Mon. 3/17/14 10:04am βrian:

Goodness, all this talk of herbes de Provence. I'm going to have to read some Marcel Pagnol again. Et j'ai faim !
Avatar Mon. 3/17/14 10:04am pierre:

@ Cecile : not false. But then it does nice flowers :)
Avatar    Mon. 3/17/14 10:05am Cecile:

My knees are shot so I can't garden the way I did. I have to figure out how to do it. And I'm so indifferent to indoor plants, that I'm surprised that I haven't been assualted by roving gangs of ficus plants.

AC, No. I was angry my favorite Irish bar cut back their menu and raised their prices 30% for St. Pat's yesterday. We still had lunch, and then went over to the Gernan bar and drank huge pints for $3/pop.
Avatar Mon. 3/17/14 10:15am tim from champaign:
