I was just singing this album side to myself this morning. Now I know why.
Avatar Thu. 3/6/14 3:15am Julie:

this is actually my favorite album of theirs

The Lost Patrol CD "Driven" -- up for grabs now with a mere $15 pledge!
Avatar Thu. 3/6/14 3:30am fred von helsing:

I pledged last week in a half mouse but i guess that leaves me out of drawings d'oh
Avatar Thu. 3/6/14 3:31am Julie:

If you pledged after last week's show we have a card for you, so you are in the first drawing
Avatar Thu. 3/6/14 3:35am fred von helsing:

OK kewl. It's all confusing. Caryn says she's making a bunch of 15$ pledges and then she'll email mike(?) to bundle them all up for a level of swag. What a weird system.
Avatar Thu. 3/6/14 3:36am Caryn:

I'll e-mail Joe to bundle them!
Avatar Thu. 3/6/14 3:38am Julie:

Joe loves to bundle
Avatar Thu. 3/6/14 3:39am Julie:

Last chance to get in the running for The Lost Patrol
Avatar Thu. 3/6/14 3:40am Caryn:

I just think it's weird that they're doing away with the Marathon account system because it's supposedly too much hassle, but having people make dozens of pledges and bundling them afterwards and dealing with the swag choices afterwards is not a huge hassle?
Avatar Thu. 3/6/14 3:40am Mike Sin:

Folks -- that Lost Patrol CD is autographed by the band!
Avatar Thu. 3/6/14 3:45am fred von helsing:

Trouble's chickens - but I missed the chicken boat !
Avatar Thu. 3/6/14 3:47am Caryn:

My grandma used to roll her own cigarettes. And 2 guys at work (middle-aged truckers) roll their own smokes. So, yes, there are non-weed uses.
Avatar Thu. 3/6/14 3:47am fred von helsing:

Nerdkween "Profit and Loss" CD now up for grabs! $15 puts YOU in the running this prize!
Avatar Thu. 3/6/14 3:53am Caryn:

Here's hoping that Liz B. loosens the adoption criteria as the Marathon nears its end, like she's done before.
Avatar Thu. 3/6/14 3:53am fred von helsing:

yup the adoption volunteer said I missed the chickens by less than a day...
Avatar Thu. 3/6/14 3:54am Caryn:

Darn, fvh! Could you 3D print yourself some chickens to adopt?
Avatar Thu. 3/6/14 3:54am fred von helsing:

@caryn how's that, how does the adopto system work out ?
Avatar Thu. 3/6/14 3:54am Julie:

awww poor chickens
Avatar Thu. 3/6/14 3:56am mariano:

Evening/'morning, y'all!
Avatar Thu. 3/6/14 3:57am Mike Sin:

"Virtual Naming Rights" program -- a pledge of $180 lets you adopt an item here at WFMU central! See the website for what's up for adoption!
Avatar Thu. 3/6/14 3:58am Caryn:

@fvh: It's just that the criteria that only "paid in full" pledges can adopt leaves me out, what with the monthly incremental paying. But usually, as the Marathon nears its end, Liz announces it's okay for those paying in monthly increments to also adopt. I think those paying later by bill are still left out.
Avatar Thu. 3/6/14 3:58am Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

Adoption gallery: wfmu.org...
Avatar Thu. 3/6/14 3:58am mariano:

I roll my own, both ways, if you get my drift, but I'm saving the FMU papers for posterity!
Avatar Thu. 3/6/14 3:59am Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

There is no paid-in-full requirement for adoption. That's an older policy.
Avatar Thu. 3/6/14 3:59am Caryn:

I don't roll either way, if you get my drift. I too will simply cherish the papers.
Avatar Thu. 3/6/14 4:00am Rob W:

Holy Mackerel, it's the Holy Mackerel!
Avatar Thu. 3/6/14 4:01am Caryn:

@Kenzo: It would help if the adoption galleries didn't have the paid-in-full requirement plastered on every page. And not just written repeatedly, but in bold!
Avatar Thu. 3/6/14 4:01am fred von helsing:

@julie srsly, it's the chickens' loss, I had 20 of them, I am a good chicken father :)
Avatar Thu. 3/6/14 4:02am mariano:

Caryn, you are an example to us all! Use me as a character reference in your adoption saga if you like.
Avatar Thu. 3/6/14 4:02am Mike Sin:

Paul Williams never sounded more like Davy Jones than on that Holy Mackerel LP!
Avatar Thu. 3/6/14 4:03am Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

Caryn: Yes, that would help.
Avatar Thu. 3/6/14 4:04am Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

Next year, the fixtures will be adopting you instead.
Avatar Thu. 3/6/14 4:05am fred von helsing:

i've never been adopted by a fixture. sounds... strangely perverted.
Avatar Thu. 3/6/14 4:08am Caryn:

I'm also wondering how the adoptions work with the bundling of small pledges. I can easily adopt something with my old SFL pledge, but now that I'm bundling lots of little pledges into a big one, do I just tell them to add up the pledges to see that I'm eligible to adopt?

@fvh: I adopted a shelf once. And I think I adopted the cassettes one year. It was all lovely. I was full of adoptive pride.
Avatar Thu. 3/6/14 4:08am fred von helsing:

in Soviet free-form radio, STATION supports YOU
Avatar Thu. 3/6/14 4:10am Caryn:

Man, pushed send before I finished: So I think the reverse might work out fine. Of course, depends on which fixture adopts you. If it's a weird one (like the crucifix or the odd toys), things might feel odd.
Avatar Thu. 3/6/14 4:10am fred von helsing:

You don't want to be adopted by the KISS head on the 4th floor
Avatar Thu. 3/6/14 4:12am Caryn:

But wouldn't it be lovely if the chickens adopted you, fvh? Like they knew you'd be a good adoptive daddy?
Avatar Thu. 3/6/14 4:14am Caryn:

I wonder what the selection process would be there. Would Trouble place pieces of paper with pledgers names on them in the coop, and then whichever name the chickens would peck at the most would get adopted?
Avatar Thu. 3/6/14 4:15am fred von helsing:

"Peck me ! Peck me !"

Morning, Meghan!
  Thu. 3/6/14 4:35am Meghan:

Disco Julie.....
Avatar Thu. 3/6/14 4:41am Caryn:

Speaking of video, I missed most of yesterday's 7SD. Is there some reason that the video is not on ustream unlike the other Marathon shows? Did Ken promise Andy to keep the video unavailable? Did something happen on video that Ken wants to keep out of circulation (since the audio is available, it can't be a language issue like that one time Ken kept the show out of the archives)?
Avatar Thu. 3/6/14 4:51am Mike Sin:

The overview of Nick Drake's "Pink Moon" -- from the "33 1/3" series of books focusing on classic LPs -- now up for grabs! $15 puts you in the running for this great book!
Avatar Thu. 3/6/14 4:57am Julie:

Call Mike on the phone 1-800-989-9368!
Avatar Thu. 3/6/14 5:01am Mike Sin:

Folks, come on -- help Julie make her goal! Do it for another year of great programming on a station run by music-loving HUMANS... not marketing graphs supplied by corporations!
Avatar Thu. 3/6/14 5:08am Robert H.:

Thank you sooo much, WFMU!
Avatar Thu. 3/6/14 5:09am Mike Sin:

Eros and the Eschaton "Hone Address for Civil War" CD now now up -- it could be yours for a mere $15 pledge!
Avatar Thu. 3/6/14 5:16am Matt from Springfield:

Morning Julie and Mike!
Avatar Thu. 3/6/14 5:19am fred von helsing:

Good morning Julie & Mike
Avatar Thu. 3/6/14 5:23am Caryn:

Luckily taking the week off work to focus on the Marathon, but unfortunately 2 neighbours are remodelling, and the building is changing all the apartment locks this morning, so it's been a little distracting.
Avatar Thu. 3/6/14 5:26am Matt from Springfield:

Guten TZAG Guido and Caryn!
Avatar Thu. 3/6/14 5:27am Caryn:

Hi, Matt! Guido!

Girl Child Linda Lawrence, now Donovan's wife.

Hey KP!
Avatar Thu. 3/6/14 5:28am fred von helsing:

By the way can you guess, I am wearing my Marathong.
Avatar Thu. 3/6/14 5:29am Julie:

woohoo marathong!

Avatar Thu. 3/6/14 5:30am Matt from Springfield:

@FVH: It covers WFMU's operating expenses, and not much else! ;)
Avatar Thu. 3/6/14 5:30am Caryn:

I've spent most of the Marathon in my Woof Moo hoodie. Not as exciting, but warmer.
Avatar Thu. 3/6/14 5:31am KP:

Sorry Im late. how is it going here?
Avatar Thu. 3/6/14 5:31am Julie:

Toyah & Neil from the young ones!
Avatar Thu. 3/6/14 5:31am Matt from Springfield:

Wow, Toyah and Nigel Planer doing Cabaret!
(I believe Nigel was "Neil" from The Young Ones).
Avatar Thu. 3/6/14 5:32am Matt from Springfield:

Got it right!
Remember this one, it's a great Marathon song!
Avatar Thu. 3/6/14 5:32am KP:

Avatar Thu. 3/6/14 5:33am Matt from Springfield:

ALL RIGHT Bas! A GREAT listener!
Avatar Thu. 3/6/14 5:33am Caryn:

Nigel Planer played the MC? Whoa... Then again, Judi Dench once made for a fetching Sally Bowles in fishnets, so maybe I shouldn't be surprised at any Cabaret casting.
Avatar Thu. 3/6/14 5:34am fred von helsing:

We cover our vital expenses... or the marathong falls OFF!!!!!
Avatar Thu. 3/6/14 5:35am Matt from Springfield:

@Caryn: Didn't know that! I have not seen much of early Judi Dench, but that sounds interesting!
Avatar Thu. 3/6/14 5:35am fred von helsing:

can I donate a kidney ?
Avatar Thu. 3/6/14 5:36am Caryn:

OMG, there's a yulelog channel on over here! (Well, I guess it's just a log, since there are no carols playing in the background, and it's, you know, March.)
Avatar Thu. 3/6/14 5:36am Matt from Springfield:

WFMU: We'd prefer a LIVER!!
Avatar Thu. 3/6/14 5:37am fred von helsing:

how's it going with bribing all the inspectors ? this is hudson county, right ?
Avatar Thu. 3/6/14 5:37am Caryn:

@Matt: Have only seen bits of footage, but I once found the OST at the library, and it had plenty of photos of her in costume. Did well with the singing, too.
Avatar Thu. 3/6/14 5:37am Matt from Springfield:

@Caryn: On your cable/satellite programming?? I've seen that for use in hotels and restaurants, didn't ever see a channel where you can tune into that.
Avatar Thu. 3/6/14 5:38am KP:

Goal ahoy!
Avatar Thu. 3/6/14 5:38am Mike Sin:

mellow goldfrapp - meh! train, strict machine, those are pure SEX
Avatar Thu. 3/6/14 5:39am Caryn:

@Matt: yes! It's a weird channel that people can rent out for programming. And I can remember that it was once an aquarium view for a couple of weeks, but now it's a log fire!
Avatar Thu. 3/6/14 5:40am KP:

PLEDGE, we're getting there!
Avatar Thu. 3/6/14 5:40am KP:

This may be Julie's greatest premium so far!

I wanted to tell the Scandinavians here, Scando-style gender equality has come to my DJ premiums (well, at least for this year! ;) Normally male DJs dominate my list, but with Julie's Kinky Girls, Meghan's African tour, Bethany's railroad songs, AmNazz's zine and Trouble's premium, the WFMU girls have really outdone themselves this year! :)
Avatar Thu. 3/6/14 5:45am KP:

Come on, get to 90% right now!
Avatar Thu. 3/6/14 5:46am Matt from Springfield:

When you played the Nick Gilder original of this on the Cherie Currie show, I thought it *was* Cherie singing at first! (That Nick! And Geddy Lee, we've had discussions on northernly latitudes on high-pitched male singers before...)

Very close! you just may be the 1!
Avatar Thu. 3/6/14 5:51am Caryn:

@fvh: maybe Matt's just wholly crapping himself with excitement over winning the Goldfrapp?
Avatar Thu. 3/6/14 5:52am Matt from Springfield:

@KP 5:49: You said it!

@FVH: I keep forgetting about the Female Fronted Punk page, when I do happen to get on the 'Borg, I'll have to remember to stop by.
Avatar Thu. 3/6/14 5:52am KP:

One DJ was $6 away from an on air GOAL! Dont let that happen here!
Avatar Thu. 3/6/14 5:53am Matt from Springfield:

Caryn's got it! I just write that because I like how it looks--and, thanks to Caryn, it's even better because I can mean wholly crapping myself! :)
