Folks, I've watched this game a dozen times. It's just like the Showcase Showdown on The Price is Right -- the second one (week) is always better. You want a 52-CD box of Sun Ra? Ain't gonna get it unless you hold out 'till next week.

Ambrosia are closet Mellotron lovers:
After the group attended a show at the Whisky a Go-Go in December 1969, to see an unknown but highly recommended new band called King Crimson, their perception of music was changed.

Floyd Bennett Field… Man, I have “risked arrest” doing tons of stuff there in the 1980s.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:45pm
Ike:

Phone room is quiet indeed. Also, most pledgers wait until the second week, so you have a MUCH better chance of winning a prize in the FIRST week.
Avatar 11:46pm
Dave Mandl:

I actually did risk arrest there back in 2001, shortly after 9/11. I was just taking pictures, but there were helicopters everywhere.
Avatar 11:46pm
Dave Mandl:

Ike speaks the truth. There are two prizes up for grabs now, and maybe one person in the running.
Avatar 11:49pm
Droll:

Daryl Hall & Fripp -- not enough of that. This version is different than the one I have...
  11:52pm
JakeGould:

Well, hey. Hippies risk arrest! Dave, back in the 1980s they had hangars—now demolished—filled with vintage 1970s/1960s cars that were pristine but covered in a layer of dust. I know because I jumped some fences with friends to hang out in Coast Guard plane wreckage and poke around. Anyway, I started to peer in the hangar and there were all these cars. Found out they were used in military tests for something. Nuke? Maybe. Anyway, got chased off the lot by some guard who lived in an RV. He was in a bathrobe & chased us with a broom. That Coast Guard security! They also had this crazy PX there that was stocked but like only 2 people a day would go into it. Thanks for letting me shared that. Brooklyn is weirder than folks think.
Avatar 11:54pm
Dave Mandl:

@Droll: They reissued the song with different vocals. The original (LP version, which is what I played) is much better.

HollyT:

YES!!! Monkeeeees
