Maybe 4-5 yrs. ago a WFMU DJ played a partially-Spanish version of "Satisfaction" that I really liked. Better than this one, sorry, and also better than the original. It had horns and plucked & bowed strings, and a solo singer.

In the midwest, the two weird groups that it was kind of OK to like were Devo and the Cars.
  12:21pm
P-90:

@Cecile: first the album cane out and was polarizing-- funny to think of high school kids being "polarized" by an album, but you know how opinionated kids are about their music. Like I said above, that was at the end of the Fleetwood Mac/Eagles/British arena acts/etc. cycle of domination, and although we'd been tracking Punk and infant New Wave on our radars for a few years by then, that album sounded SO Rock n Roll and SO not like those huge AOR-type acts, the statement was unavoidable, the timing was perfect.
THEN we saw them on SNL and got the visuals....and oh BOY

My guess on the heaviest note in LOTW? The two bar section before the first time the 'verse riff' shows up.

Rev. Turnip Druid:

Terribly late to the party, as usual.
Good to see the Devo set up there. I blasted New Traditionalists for the dog yesterday. Perhaps not their best, but it was my entry-point LP, when it was new. A fully guiltless pleasure.

RTD, you just missed him describe in minute detail the brewing of a Russian Imperial rhubarb-like stout.made with cranberries as he couldn't get rhubarb in the big city.

I Think you have the Kraut Rock Nacht ...
... or some Beat Club DVD ..
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:09pm
dale:

i would think a stout is bitter enough without rhubarb - cranberry version probably a better outcome. dried elderberries would be interesting too.
Avatar 2:11pm
Rev. Turnip Druid:

@Guido: it's a compilation of mostly Beat Club clips. Love all that chroma-key background effects. So cheesy good.
