It's a song from "The Point", a kids' movie about a land where everyone has a point on the top of his head. Except for the hero. Arrow is his dog.

Maybe you knew that already.
  Wed. 2/12/14 3:16pm Mike:

The Point! is a fable and the sixth album by American songwriter and musician Harry Nilsson about a boy named Oblio, the only round-headed person in the Pointed Village, where by law everyone and everything had to have a point. There have been at least three iterations of The Point! ... wHO KNEW THIS?

  Wed. 2/12/14 4:41pm P-90:

Thamk you, Paula! I had a feeling that submitting this question to the "Mass Mind" out there would bear fruit, but jeez, you sent that ping back in record time. JFWiki, huh? Hmm
  Wed. 2/12/14 4:41pm paula pc:

it actually sounded like a slowwed-down vsn of that track to me, without vox...but I am rationalizing to the wiki and thus being a klutz
  Wed. 2/12/14 4:42pm Paul Smith:

Irwin Sounded like something that might have been written and played by the band that did the Sanford and Son sit-com theme , but that's a pretty wild guess.
  Wed. 2/12/14 4:46pm P-90:

@ Irwin: you're right , the wiki only mentions the Can track. Joe'shows always have a few different musical themes.
I've heard that same snippet used as bed in at least a couple of other JF things
Avatar Wed. 2/12/14 4:48pm Irwin:

THIS is the Can track.
  Wed. 2/12/14 4:49pm P-90:

@ whoo: Sanford and Son was Quincy Jones
  Wed. 2/12/14 4:49pm Paul Smith:

you got it - ken nordine's word jazz - we could use more of that kind of groovy rod serling zeitgeist these days - I did see Tom Hanks do a funny beat poetry reading (subject full house?) on jimmy fallon's show.
Wed. 2/12/14 4:49pm Pete from Boston (and NJ):

I think I have the info on the track someplace, but will have to delve to find it. This is going back years since I sought it so it's iffy.
Wed. 2/12/14 4:50pm Pete from Boston (and NJ):

I have always loved the statement in this on satisfaction.
Avatar Wed. 2/12/14 4:50pm Whooda:

@ P-90 Great, now we have a scent to follow. Quincy Jones sounds like a solid lead.

Paula, listen to the Stanford and Son's theme, it will come back to you.
Avatar Wed. 2/12/14 4:53pm V Priceless:

SPORT! it was a really good read. ended up starting kindling in the woodstove unfortunately, but sure it's on the times website.

i used to see mistress kimbra in the east village all the time, seeing her in the odessa restaurant in full vulcan outfit complete with spocks bangs and ears and eyebrows. classic ny moment. then i saw quenton crisp same night in the waverly diner having dinner on two young gay boys who wanted to bask in his powdered and perfumed glow. i don't think new york is like that anymore, is it? moved out 9 years ago.

i just saw kembra and quentin the same night in diners is all. quentin lived in his sro right round the block from me and my wife and i saw him all the time. he would go out to dinner with anyone who paid, and it was always young gay men who thought they might learn something from an institution like him. but he never really talked to them, he just ate his dinner and usually was silent.
