Not that I mind your selections, Lamin. Sounding good.
Avatar Sat. 2/8/14 7:05pm northguineahills:

The Niblock leads with the most Favorites, since Bryce played it yesterday. Someday, perhaps, a Most Favorited list somewhere on the site ...? Very fine sounds, Lamin.
  Sat. 2/8/14 7:28pm LovecraftDude888:

NGHills..what happened to the South Massapequa moors?
  Sat. 2/8/14 7:31pm LovecraftDude888:

wow Josephine Foster looks like a proto Karen Dalton type...or something. strike that..reverse it. that's my type of woman right der
Avatar Sat. 2/8/14 7:31pm northguineahills:

Well, technically there are moors south of Massapequa. ngh is purely fictional.
  Sat. 2/8/14 7:32pm LovecraftDude888:

hrmm actual moors? wasn't aware of that. I know the area in general...of course. Sunrise Hwy...so exciting. one record shop and one gun shop over there....spitting distance
Avatar Sat. 2/8/14 7:33pm Trouble:

lamin has a very nice soundcloud page, just sayin...
  Sat. 2/8/14 7:35pm LovecraftDude888:

re: Niblock...wow,..didn't even know there was a College O' Staten Island!---Lamin, meant to ask some of the really obscure on these shows...do the artists send out things or do you generally research on your own? or both? I mean the really avant-garde or experimental newer artists...
Avatar Sat. 2/8/14 7:35pm northguineahills:

The area around the coast south of Massapequa I'd consider a moor.
  Sat. 2/8/14 7:37pm LovecraftDude888:

yeah I guess it kinda qualifies.
Sat. 2/8/14 7:38pm some other guy:

I just tuned in so I dunno about the previous working/no-working comments, but getting only left channel on the 128k stream here.
  Sat. 2/8/14 7:38pm Jo Thello:

What's all this about Moors on Long Island?
Avatar Sat. 2/8/14 7:39pm fleep:

north guinea hills is fictional? another illusion shattered. life is dust in the wind.
  Sat. 2/8/14 7:40pm LovecraftDude888:

me too only left channel for sure. I live right off the Manh. Bay here..if I had the dosh I'd get right on my yacht and high tail it right now for FL or the Keys....fer sure or Bermuda...then prob. disappear of course
  Sat. 2/8/14 7:41pm LovecraftDude888:

(God I want a grant to do nutty avant-garde music!)
  Sat. 2/8/14 7:41pm Jo Thello:

First East Newbridge, now North Guinea Hills, only fictions in the end. Is there any part of your United States that is real?
Avatar Sat. 2/8/14 7:42pm Ike:

I'm getting both channels at 91.1 FM. Also tested pop-up player, that's also fine.
  Sat. 2/8/14 7:42pm LovecraftDude888:

  Sat. 2/8/14 7:44pm LovecraftDude888:

it's back...stereo. quadrophonic to come. man i used to have Altec 4.1 speakers that were great but they died...alas
Avatar Sat. 2/8/14 7:47pm Ike:

@Jo Thello, mostly the U.S. is fictional if you count the vast, proud fictions existing in the minds of many gullible patriots, but I assure you that Newark, New Jersey, is all too real.
  Sat. 2/8/14 7:48pm LovecraftDude888:

so was Paterson when my dad worked there..geeesh
  Sat. 2/8/14 7:49pm LovecraftDude888:

i was hoping Levittown LI was fictional but it is still there, alas.
  Sat. 2/8/14 7:50pm robyn:

Lamin! Hooray
  Sat. 2/8/14 7:52pm LovecraftDude888:

isn't there some goth club in Newark? Never been...a bit long in the tooth for that
Avatar Sat. 2/8/14 7:53pm Ike:

Heard about it, never been, don't know if it's still there. Might also be too long in tooth (late 30s).
  Sat. 2/8/14 7:55pm LovecraftDude888:

Ike...yeah I thought I read it was reopening recently, got a facelift. I'm older than that so....good Lord. Can't even imagine it...
  Sat. 2/8/14 7:57pm LovecraftDude888:

got some docu. on 70s Cult Films so watching that soon....heard it was great Eraserhead, El Topo et al.
  Sat. 2/8/14 7:57pm LovecraftDude888:

Rev. Rabbit must be like getting bizzee up there ..he's not around anymore! hehe you go Rabbit!
Avatar Sat. 2/8/14 7:59pm Ike:

At least Paterson has an Arabic section w/a neat grocery, Fattal's, and good Lebanese restaurants. I wish Newark had some of those. Portuguese restaurants are the specialty here. Not really my bag.
  Sat. 2/8/14 8:00pm robyn:

Awesome stuff
  Sat. 2/8/14 8:02pm LovecraftDude888:

Paterson....hrmm yeah last I was there I vaguely recall some good ethnic restaurants of all diff. sorts. Dunkin donuts didn't count! Newark doesn't seem as intriguing...last I was there but was ages ago..and the airport does not count for sure
  Sat. 2/8/14 8:06pm Jonathan:

Lamin! Nice to hear you back here. I miss your shows! When will you get a slot of your own again? Hello from England.
Avatar Sat. 2/8/14 8:06pm JakeGould:

Newark goths. Reminds me of Bay Ridge club kids. www.yelp.com...
  Sat. 2/8/14 8:09pm LovecraftDude888:

QXT yeah had heard of the place a good while ago, 2003 or so...meant to go..never got there. kind of phased out of the club world...minus gigs here and there.
Avatar Sat. 2/8/14 8:10pm JakeGould:

Last time I cared about clubs was going to the Limelight back in the late 1980s.
  Sat. 2/8/14 8:10pm b k:

What is up with the 91.1 signal? It has been awful the last few days.
  Sat. 2/8/14 8:11pm LovecraftDude888:

Jake..haha the Slimelight, indeed. I was there a few times. Saw Peter Murphy there 1992 or so. Was there seeing Dave Kendall DJ oh no....what a tosser
  Sat. 2/8/14 8:12pm LovecraftDude888:

Avatar Sat. 2/8/14 8:14pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

- hullo again - was off checking 'Filth & Fury' on YT & someone got sucked away into that it...was that visionary dialogue Huerco S. or Jeff Mills?
Avatar Sat. 2/8/14 8:15pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

  Sat. 2/8/14 8:16pm LovecraftDude888:

i was joking about getting my new Google cyborg eyeball installed the other day...nobody larfed ah well...i thought it was kind of funneee
Avatar Sat. 2/8/14 8:16pm Ike:

@BK, 91.1 is fine here, where are you? If you are near Flatbush or Paterson, you are probably getting interference from evil scumbag pirates at 90.9 FM.
Avatar Sat. 2/8/14 8:17pm JakeGould:

Lovecraft, nobody gaffs because nobody can type when you are the only one dominating comments.
  Sat. 2/8/14 8:17pm LovecraftDude888:

yeah Filth and the Fury a must-see
  Sat. 2/8/14 8:17pm LovecraftDude888:

Jake..sorry
Avatar Sat. 2/8/14 8:19pm northguineahills:

Don't hear enough ninja tune selections these days (outside of Small Change)
  Sat. 2/8/14 8:21pm P-90:

@Ike: there are pirates broadcasting from Flatbush at 90.9? What kind of content do they broadcast? Or: are you @JustJoking?
Avatar Sat. 2/8/14 8:22pm JakeGould:

There are lots of pirate radio stations in NYC. And in Flatbush.
  Sat. 2/8/14 8:24pm LovecraftDude888:

this is what became of my beloved Adelphi U. radio station 90.3, says it was 90.9 originally:

Sea shanties, tide reports. The occasional buried treasure story. Arr.
Avatar Sat. 2/8/14 8:26pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Why are there Pirate Stations ?? - because there Arr.
Avatar Sat. 2/8/14 8:26pm Ike:

@P-90, unfortunately I'm dead serious. Overmodulating Haitian Creole scumbags. Hate them.
Avatar Sat. 2/8/14 8:27pm JakeGould:

Also songs about hot manatees.
  Sat. 2/8/14 8:28pm jeg:

tumtum tada tumtum tadaaa
  Sat. 2/8/14 8:29pm LovecraftDude888:

i know the cab drivers in downtown Bklyn used to all listen to that stuff all night long..etc.
  Sat. 2/8/14 8:29pm b k:

I am in the East Village, signal sounds like it did when it was on low power a few weeks ago, maybe worse.
Avatar Sat. 2/8/14 8:30pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...I will presume the visionary talk was the Jeff Mills & ☆ that then - & damn the cannon fire ! Arr ! - pass the rum...okay pop the tinto vino...this is FreeForm not Piracy...
Avatar Sat. 2/8/14 8:30pm JakeGould:

There’s some noise on WFMU but it ain’t on the airwaves.
  Sat. 2/8/14 8:32pm P-90:

@fleep love ya Babe, never change!

@Ike: I see web items now, a 24-hr gospel station in Queens was shut down by the Feds and owners fined. Seems to be a lot of stations cued to local immigrant communities, so Haitian Creole fits the pattern. You'd think they'd know not to over-modulate when sending on a frequency adjacent to a licensed station, attracting attention to their nefarious doings
  Sat. 2/8/14 8:33pm LovecraftDude888:

all I recall of 1998 is hearing Horse and Carriage Cam'ron on the cabbies radios all day and night long. prob some morons sitting at Pratt in their dorm with nothing better to du
Avatar Sat. 2/8/14 8:38pm JakeGould:

Bzgzgzaaaatttttt*!
  Sat. 2/8/14 8:38pm LovecraftDude888:

ha reading about the Caribb. station shutdown...the "harsher FCC penalties" entail being strapped to chair for 1 year and forced to listen to Z100 24-7
Avatar Sat. 2/8/14 8:40pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...it's the Parrot Show on the Pirate Station drives me *particularly* bonkers, though...altho' the Parrot is quite tolerant of compulsive Commenting...
Avatar Sat. 2/8/14 8:40pm Ike:

@BK, 91.1 was good for me today in Clifton, Montclair, Nutley, etc. So IDK. East Village can be tricky, people often complain. Bad geography for FM there.
  Sat. 2/8/14 8:40pm P-90:

JakeG: careful Dude, you're overmodulatiing, don't hurt yourself
Avatar Sat. 2/8/14 8:41pm JakeGould:

I keep on sending them pieces of 8 but they don’t seem to solve their noise problems.
  Sat. 2/8/14 8:41pm P-90:

@RevRab: that Pirate Parrot has the patience of a goddamn saint
Avatar Sat. 2/8/14 8:42pm KristinaKoffee:

Avatar Sat. 2/8/14 8:42pm JakeGould:

Hey KK!
Avatar Sat. 2/8/14 8:43pm anne:

yeah this is fabulous, Lamin, great hearing you again
  Sat. 2/8/14 8:44pm LovecraftDude888:

Hey KK....I'd done research on Ham radio stuff last year...pretty damned expensive as far as that goes, if you really wanna get involved transmitting.
Avatar Sat. 2/8/14 8:44pm KristinaKoffee:

Hey Jake - was QXT that club you and Ike were talking about earlier?
Avatar Sat. 2/8/14 8:45pm KristinaKoffee:

Hey there LD888
Avatar Sat. 2/8/14 8:45pm JakeGould:

Lovecraft, some people need to stop transmitting every now & the. @KK Yes, QXT. I have never been there, but it seems like something.
  Sat. 2/8/14 8:46pm LovecraftDude888:

But Jake..there's only so much bandwidth on heeah, Sir.
  Sat. 2/8/14 8:47pm LovecraftDude888:

Avatar Sat. 2/8/14 8:47pm Whooda:

Thanks DJ Lamin for the interesting background soundtrack to my less interesting life.
Avatar Sat. 2/8/14 8:48pm Ike:

Yeah, only so much bandwidth here and you're hogging a lot of it, LCD! Just try to chill a bit, that's all we're saying.
Avatar Sat. 2/8/14 8:48pm KristinaKoffee:

Just reading up the comments - Ike have you been to the Arabic/Turkish sections of Paterson? I used to go all the time but haven't as of late. Lots of good stuff out there
  Sat. 2/8/14 8:48pm LovecraftDude888:

no I'm not.
Avatar Sat. 2/8/14 8:50pm fleep:

Think of it this way: everything that gets typed winds up on an FMU archive server, forever. So the more you type, the more storage you require. So you better pay up big come Marathon, or taper down a bit.
Avatar Sat. 2/8/14 8:50pm Whooda:

My girlfriend tells me that bandwidth doesn't matter but I know she's just trying to not hurt my feelings.
  Sat. 2/8/14 8:51pm P-90:

...learn things all the time on these boards. Pirates in Flatbush, Paterson NJ indeed spelled with one "t"...
Avatar Sat. 2/8/14 8:51pm Ike:

Yep @KK, I especially like a dessert place, homemade stuff, not too sweet:
www.eatingintranslation.com...
And also Kamil's in Clifton is a really good Lebanese rest., near the Paterson border.
Avatar Sat. 2/8/14 8:52pm JakeGould:

You have 36 posts on this thread, LovecraftDude888. In contrast, Rev Rabbit has only 9. Nuff said.
