This guy did the entire OK Computer album ... I think you can get it for free on Bandcamp ... Sung's from Hong Kong if I remember correctly
  Wed. 1/22/14 7:45pm Jill B.:

Hmmm.....Sound is weird.......broadcasting your narrative twice, with one behind the other in time.
Avatar Wed. 1/22/14 7:46pm northguineahills:

Heard quite a few of 'quintons' and 'quintrons' this week.

my feed keeps on clipping.
Avatar Wed. 1/22/14 7:47pm Gary:

Is the feed still weird? Lemme know, because it could be that the feed is picking up Audacity
Avatar Wed. 1/22/14 7:47pm davex:

Sounds good to me!

To me too

Avatar Wed. 1/22/14 7:55pm Gary:

Avatar Wed. 1/22/14 7:58pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

I'm certainly left in the dust by tech.
Avatar Wed. 1/22/14 7:59pm Gary:

have a fabulous night, nbob!
Avatar Wed. 1/22/14 8:00pm Gary:

Can anyone guess the significance of the song's title, "970" ?
Avatar Wed. 1/22/14 8:01pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

Speaking of tech...there's a major upgrade happening in a bit, and it just...might...cause some moments of playlist trouble. It probably won't.
Avatar Wed. 1/22/14 8:02pm davex:

970 is the calling code for Palestine, I think. Really liked Soap Kills, by the way. The melody sounded familiar.
Avatar Wed. 1/22/14 8:03pm Gary:

Kenzo! Thanks for the heads up! ... and points to davex
Avatar Wed. 1/22/14 8:04pm Gary:

Soap Kills was another BeirutPirate score, if memory serves me. Maybe I also posted them to my blog, later?

I really like this one....970

Hello all.
Avatar Wed. 1/22/14 8:11pm Gary:

Unka Michael! I loved the music you pointed me to last night, btw, the cumbia you'd played
Avatar Wed. 1/22/14 8:14pm Doug Schulkind:

Bèkèlè Pop Live!
Avatar Wed. 1/22/14 8:14pm Uncle Michael:

Thanks. I do too...why's it so hard to find? I think that stuff is somehow made as disposable and treated as a very temporary thing in an always evolving milieu. I just happened to stick my ear in at a certain moment and it's not documented like pop music. The stuff I heard 20 years ago was, if anything...even wackier.
Avatar Wed. 1/22/14 8:15pm Gary:

Well, I'm definitely going to visit my friends off Bway and see if they've got any, U.M. ... probably this weekend. If I do find some, you'll be the first to know!
Avatar Wed. 1/22/14 8:15pm davex:

Some of the melody of Wadih sounds like something by Qntal, that's what it was. I wonder if there is any real connection there.
Avatar Wed. 1/22/14 8:17pm Uncle Michael:

I'd be grateful. I keep thinking that through FMU I'd find at least one maven. DJ Rupture featured it just ONCE and I've had no luck, trying to reach him to ask him about it.
Avatar Wed. 1/22/14 8:17pm Gary:

I'm going to have to Google Qntal, davex ....
Avatar Wed. 1/22/14 8:18pm Uncle Michael:

Here's the one playlist where he featured that flavor of Cumbia: wfmu.org...
Avatar Wed. 1/22/14 8:21pm Gary:

Found this rather fab Ethiopian CD in Washington, DC on my last trip there ... in a cafe!
Avatar Wed. 1/22/14 8:21pm Uncle Michael:

A nice side effect of my search for this stuff is that it led me to Chicha.
