You see a blanket on the ground. It's your favorite color, smooth and soft. You can sit on it, or lie on it. It's a flying blanket, and you are the pilot. You are in control. You can fly anywhere you wish, just by thinking about it. You are the pilot.

Wasn't this originally done by Nico?

Avatar    Mon. 1/6/14 9:15pm Kat in Chicago:

Just plugged your show on Facebook since due to the Martian temperatures in Chicago, I can't go to the station that I do a show at on Monday nights and do mine! Super excited for this Chris and Cosey feature.
Avatar    Mon. 1/6/14 9:16pm Revolution Avant Retard Nov63:

I wish I was originally done by Nico.
Avatar Mon. 1/6/14 9:17pm Dan Bodah:

Chris & Cosey are here to talk about their music and US tour. Any questions for them? We go on in 2 mins.
  Mon. 1/6/14 9:17pm platiquejesus:

The Nico song is from the 'Desertshore' cover record from X-TG which was Cosi Fanni Tutti, Chris Carter and Peter Christopherson from Throbbing Gristle. They covered the entire album using guest vocalists after G. P-Orridge dropped out of project.
Avatar    Mon. 1/6/14 9:18pm fleep:

Stars all around on Lost Bliss.
  Mon. 1/6/14 9:19pm PB:

@Kat, not sure I'm going to be able to make it to do my show tomorrow night in Bridgeport, CT either due to the frigid weather. What kind of music do you play on your show?
Avatar Mon. 1/6/14 9:19pm DJRobertDrake:

Totally in love with LOST BLISS :)
  Mon. 1/6/14 9:19pm yeezus:

Who /mu/ here?
Avatar    Mon. 1/6/14 9:22pm Kat in Chicago:

@PB electronic music, generally. Mostly dance music (especially techno), some experimental/ambient/drone.
Avatar    Mon. 1/6/14 9:24pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...reminds me of what Hendrix' collaborators said after he passed...wow...
  Mon. 1/6/14 9:25pm plastiquejesus:

Do Carter Tutti think 'Desertshore' is a better record with guest vocalists rather than having Gen do all the singing?
  Mon. 1/6/14 9:28pm h. husar:

Where are they playing in Chicago??!!!
Avatar    Mon. 1/6/14 9:30pm Kat in Chicago:

They're playing at Metro at 3730 N. Clark and there are still tickets as of now :)
Avatar    Mon. 1/6/14 9:32pm Kat in Chicago:

I saw them there circa "Love & Lust" and am beyond psyched to see them again! Was coming to MoMAPS PS1 too but my Friday flight was cancelled and I couldn't rebook, sadly.
Avatar    Mon. 1/6/14 9:33pm steve:

C and C did a remix for the great Brooklyn band Excepter a few years ago, and now they appear to be playing together (at least in NYC). im curious how they first connected with each other?
  Mon. 1/6/14 9:34pm h. husar:

@kat brb getting tix, thank you!!!
Avatar    Mon. 1/6/14 9:34pm Kat in Chicago:

  Mon. 1/6/14 9:50pm PB:

Your guest's speaking voice sounds exactly like Glenn Matlock's.

...Epiphany - Jan. 6th - Day of the Magi / Three Wise Men - Happy B-Day Alan Watts, John C. Lilly (those two less than an hour apart!), Syd Barrett...
     Mon. 1/6/14 10:04pm LovecraftDude888:

It's going to be so cold tomorrow, even your old laser-rotted CDs from 1985 will begin playing again! I dunno why but..they will! If you hang them outside they will be rejuvenated. The magic of cryogenics
     Mon. 1/6/14 10:06pm LovecraftDude888:

it's going to be so cold even Bomb Pops won't stick to your tongue...that's how bad folks. I have the deluxe White Light White Heat on the way goodie goodie that should help warm things up a bit
  Mon. 1/6/14 10:10pm Mark Allen:

QUESTION: So many electronic bands in the 80's were influenced by you. I'm curious... what bands in the 80's influenced YOU? Did it go both ways? (also related: I'm curious about how the mysterious C&C/Eurythmics collaboration happened).
     Mon. 1/6/14 10:11pm LovecraftDude888:

sorry I missed the show yesterday...been a bit preoccupied. I saw a great Kuchar film retro. exhibit at PS1 a while back. Was wondering if you guys are into Xenakis and people like that?
  Mon. 1/6/14 10:11pm PB:

That deluxe edition looks great but is really expensive. The live CD sounds great, I'll have to bite the bullet and buy it eventually.
  Mon. 1/6/14 10:14pm Mark Allen:

QUESTION: I'd love to hear a vocal collaboration between Cosey and your cats!
Avatar    Mon. 1/6/14 10:15pm Kat in Chicago:

I think this is at the wrong speed, although it sounds rather nice this way
Avatar    Mon. 1/6/14 10:16pm Kat in Chicago:

Oh it's the remix! Pardon me.
     Mon. 1/6/14 10:22pm LovecraftDude888:

the first cut goes deeper in....haven't heard that song in ages....
     Mon. 1/6/14 10:24pm LovecraftDude888:

most people in my high school HATED the Eurythmics but I was big into them! Love Is A Stranger...pure total genius.

     Mon. 1/6/14 10:29pm LovecraftDude888:

such a weird time really..going in my case from listening to the likes of Tom Petty to The Eurythmics...very weird indeed. but of course MTV was the linking thing....at the time. That song Right By Your Side was keen too....
  Mon. 1/6/14 10:30pm feral_parsnip:

@Kat in Chicago: I think I sold a copy of Sweet Surprise to K-Starke not too long ago. Worth asking? Kevin is the best, nicest guy ever, within spitting distance of Empty Bottle, obvs.
     Mon. 1/6/14 10:31pm LovecraftDude888:

I once sold a Twisted Sister tape or something to Bobcat Goldthwait...that was scary
Avatar    Mon. 1/6/14 10:33pm Andrew Waterloo:

The benefit of early MTV and Much Music was there was a limited supply of things to play and a lot of air time to fill. So, stuff, got, through.
     Mon. 1/6/14 10:35pm LovecraftDude888:

Right. Even Wire Train and Red Rockers....I remember going "who are these XTC guys anyway"? and poor Dwight Twilley with his one video shot and then...nothing.
Avatar    Mon. 1/6/14 10:35pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

- @ the very beginning. Then it was Boy George on the cover of Trouser Press & Madonna...
     Mon. 1/6/14 10:37pm LovecraftDude888:

I have some memory of the week Like A Virgin was out I went the flea market and bought an Iron Maiden tape instead. Or something.
Avatar    Mon. 1/6/14 10:37pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...hoping it would bring TV to the level of Music - but mostly it brought Music to the level of TV...
     Mon. 1/6/14 10:38pm LovecraftDude888:

sorry bought Piece of Mind then a bit later recall Like a Virgin coming out and being played all over the place and that bloody flea market too...awful!
Avatar    Mon. 1/6/14 10:39pm Kat in Chicago:

@fp I have Sweet Surprise, godawful sleeve and all :)
     Mon. 1/6/14 10:42pm LovecraftDude888:

sorry yeah it was the first Madonna album I'm thinking of..Holiday and Borderline all that I recall hearing around that time all over everywhere and it was so annoying. But God i would take that over what we had later..debbie gibson and Tiffany!
     Mon. 1/6/14 10:42pm LovecraftDude888:

Would rather listen to Ciccone Youth....that's for sure
  Mon. 1/6/14 10:43pm feral_parsnip:

Solaris one of my fave films ever...so many people hate it though for some reason cause it's long, slow paced etc. and weirder than weird. But so feckin great and the soundtrack especially

Don't forget Atom Heart Wombat!
Avatar    Mon. 1/6/14 11:10pm JakeGould:

Just a quick note that despite the fact I am not into Throbbing Gristle or Chris & Cosey, I really enjoyed the interview. I also liked their POV on tape versus hard drives & creativity. Rare to hear folks praise new tech in production as a true creative enabler.
     Mon. 1/6/14 11:12pm LovecraftDude888:

Can we hear Wined And Dined?
Avatar    Mon. 1/6/14 11:21pm JakeGould:

Good lord had no idea he was 106! Far out. I'm a massive Blade Runner nut. Even own the fabulous deluxe box thing with the spinner car in it...and all dat That sux
Avatar    Mon. 1/6/14 11:26pm JakeGould:

The weird thing LovecraftDude888 is until just now I didn't connect "Shaw Brothers" to "Sir Run Run Shaw". The guy who produced amazing martial arts films also produced "Blade Runner?" Wow. And this is my fave, "Come Drink With Me." www.youtube.com...
Avatar    Mon. 1/6/14 11:28pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...*to this day* - PinkFloyd has not officially released 'Scream' or 'Veg.Man' - because they're too non-commercial or negative...or - something...
     Mon. 1/6/14 11:28pm LovecraftDude888:

ha yeah it's wacky. Now, why can't I meet a chick like that that can f like a beast and also chuck Kung fu darts like nobody's biz? why why
     Mon. 1/6/14 11:29pm LovecraftDude888:

I know that's preposterous...just release that shit already guys.

and this is the Run Run Shaw film wherein our hero actually meets said girl that chucks the darts.... saucy!

www.youtube.com...
Avatar Mon. 1/6/14 11:35pm Cantwell F. Muckenfuss III:

The Syd Barrett stuff has a comfortable feel to it now, as DJ Dan Bodah suggested, a 'natural' kind of vibe as in natural to human connection.
     Mon. 1/6/14 11:37pm LovecraftDude888:

I'm into all that early stuff and Syd's solo stuff...but so many Floyd heads hate that early stuff, it's amazing. I had one guy tell me oh man that Animals album really sucked...and I"m like but that's one of my faves!! so there's no accounting.... But a lot of fans of later Floyd hate the early stuff. I can see why in a sense. Two totally different bands altogether
  Mon. 1/6/14 11:39pm tom:

syd's singing was halfway speaking so its like he's conversing with you.
Avatar    Mon. 1/6/14 11:40pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

I like the fact that Piper was recorded in Abbey Rd. 1 @ exactly the same time Pepper was recorded in Abbey Road 2 - & the very next thing in Abbey Road 2 - Odessey & Oracle by the Zombies.
  Mon. 1/6/14 11:42pm tom:

appreciate the syd set
     Mon. 1/6/14 11:43pm LovecraftDude888:

I don't own that one but should. What 's your name who's yer daddy...etc. wow that's crazy. has he taken any time..to buy you the Syd Barrett box set....ddoo doo do ah!
Avatar    Mon. 1/6/14 11:45pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

- story is the Zombies walked in, & they were seperating the 4-tracks they put together to make 8 - & the Zombies were like - no -leave that for a second!...
Avatar Mon. 1/6/14 11:48pm hanging a painted horse:

@Tom I agree. I know it isn't "easy listening" genre but it's easy listening all the same.
Avatar    Mon. 1/6/14 11:49pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

I think of Syd as being what Monk was to Jazz - somebody showing a - different kind of nervous system...

It's time to do some mandrax..not. crush it on me head with the hair gel...melt it man
