Hey Kids! ...ready for the toy commercials & singalongs...Fairly ripping ChuckBerry riff for a show I wouldn't touch w/ *your* YouTube account...

Hello James and all others!
Avatar Wed. 12/11/13 12:05pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Hello RR and Jeff G!
Avatar Wed. 12/11/13 12:08pm Stevel:

Holy Xmas spirit! I'm actually going to be able to listen live for the whole show today. There IS a Santa Claus!
  Wed. 12/11/13 12:08pm Jeff G:

Hello to fellow Nazarenes! I hail you, via phone app, from the luggage claim area of Detroit airport. Can I get a little MC5 up in here?
Avatar Wed. 12/11/13 12:09pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Stay Alive in the MC w/ the 5 !
Avatar Wed. 12/11/13 12:10pm Doug Schulkind:

Hey Jeff G, can you loan Detroit a fiver? I hear the town needs a little extra scratch.
Avatar Wed. 12/11/13 12:10pm Matt F:

I was just singing "Kick Out The Jams" but substituting "Saved By The Bell" for the title line.
Avatar Wed. 12/11/13 12:11pm Amanda:

Saved By the Bell, motherfuckers!!!!!!
Avatar Wed. 12/11/13 12:11pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...if not the 5:
- 'Christmas in the Airport' by Nick Lowe
- 'We Almost Lost Detroit' by Dale Earnhart Jr. Jr.
Avatar Wed. 12/11/13 12:14pm Danne D:

Yay AmNazz :)
Avatar Wed. 12/11/13 12:15pm Artie:

Lipstick and powder cover a multitude of sins.
Avatar Wed. 12/11/13 12:15pm Danne D:

@Jeff G so who's luggage are you claiming? :)
Avatar Wed. 12/11/13 12:16pm Stevel:

This song NEVER grows old for me. Nearly perfect lyrics.
Avatar Wed. 12/11/13 12:17pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

- yeah - & likewise S.Hoff's appeal to my Y-chromosomes...
  Wed. 12/11/13 12:18pm Jeff G:

I'll take whatever looks good.

And sure I'll spare a sawbuck or two - though in return I hope to head back to NYC w a Monet or Manet or something. One of the 'nets.
Avatar Wed. 12/11/13 12:18pm Amanda:

Heyyy Danne D! And Stevel, I'm so glad you can listen live! @Artie, pfft, who're you tellin'?
Avatar Wed. 12/11/13 12:18pm Danne D:

AmNazz playing all my MTV crushes right in a row...
Avatar Wed. 12/11/13 12:19pm Danne D:

Fully expect to see Jeff G on a episode of that Detroit pawn shaw rolling in like 9 pieces of luggage.
  Wed. 12/11/13 12:19pm jack:

Aimee!!! One of my current musical obsessions (not talking about the others...)
Avatar Wed. 12/11/13 12:20pm Amanda:

Heh, no Juliana Hatfield today, but I should've. No Liz Phair neither.

@jack -- Nice, seems like you and Danne are in synch...
Avatar Wed. 12/11/13 12:26pm Danne D:

I've said it many time, AmNazz - you doing your show makes any notion of me ever doing a show pretty much redundant :)
  Wed. 12/11/13 12:26pm Jeff G:

Cultural landmark, rights here, for kids of a certain age.

"The suit fit" etc etc
Avatar Wed. 12/11/13 12:30pm Matt F:

The UK version was called "With The Brady Bunch"
Avatar Wed. 12/11/13 12:31pm listener james from westwood:

in my mind, we'll go with that jingle having been written by peggy olson.
  Wed. 12/11/13 12:36pm Jeff G:

Ooh yeah Mick Collins! Noice!

Here as long as my phone battery allows it...
Avatar Wed. 12/11/13 12:40pm Stevel:

The Gories track reminds me: Have you checked out the F'ke Blood album yet? I bought it after hearing one song and am VERY happy with that choice. Deconstructiony, Gang of Four, no-wave roots that rock.
Avatar Wed. 12/11/13 12:40pm Uncle Michael:

I'm sorry...I was out following the Grateful Dead around with Mike Lookinland.
Avatar Wed. 12/11/13 12:41pm efd:

Thumbs up for the Prissteens!
Avatar Wed. 12/11/13 12:42pm Uncle Michael:

This is a cool cover.
Avatar Wed. 12/11/13 12:47pm ndbob:

afternoon Amanda and everyone!
  Wed. 12/11/13 12:50pm Jeff G:

Suddenly have an overwhelming urge to hear the Swinging Neckbreakers...
Avatar Wed. 12/11/13 12:50pm Amanda:

Stevel, haven't checked it out, but now will be sure to.

efd, AGREED!!!

UM, you know what, Mike Lookinland was my first-ever celebrity crush. I would've followed the Grateful Dead with him. (at age 7 or so)
Avatar Wed. 12/11/13 12:53pm Uncle Michael:

I'm not sure you could have competed with Jerry for his attention.

Now I wanna hear Volcano by PUSA!
Avatar Wed. 12/11/13 12:54pm Matt F:

The Prissteens shoulda been famous but they had the misfortune of getting on a major label right before the major label holocaust of the late 90s and their album totally disappeared.
Avatar Wed. 12/11/13 12:54pm Uncle Michael:

Wait...no...I mean Tiki God!
Avatar Wed. 12/11/13 12:56pm efd:

Matt, I'd guess that their label also ended up focusing more on Garbage, possibly at the expense of the Prissteens. Great album, though.
Avatar Wed. 12/11/13 1:04pm Uncle Michael:

311 is a joke in my town.
Avatar Wed. 12/11/13 1:05pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

+Nazz
Avatar Wed. 12/11/13 1:06pm listener james from westwood:

hear hear on calling it in. the cop(s) could have had a pattern of such BS pullovers; this gets it on record.
Avatar Wed. 12/11/13 1:06pm pacific standard simon:

That makes you an honorary San Franciscan, as well.
Avatar Wed. 12/11/13 1:07pm listener james from westwood:

i wonder if UM is making a public enemy reference.
Avatar Wed. 12/11/13 1:07pm Matt F:

I think UM was making a Public Enemy joke.
Avatar Wed. 12/11/13 1:07pm Uncle Michael:

I was. I'm sorry.
Avatar Wed. 12/11/13 1:08pm efd:

I thought maybe you were joking about the band from nearby Omaha.
Avatar Wed. 12/11/13 1:08pm listener james from westwood:

amanda was fighting the power!
Avatar Wed. 12/11/13 1:08pm Matt F:

Since the cabbie was listening to Bob Marley I thought that story was going to end with a horrific pot bust.
  Wed. 12/11/13 1:09pm Jeff G:

There's some other x11 number in NYC, I think. 811?
Avatar Wed. 12/11/13 1:09pm Matt F:

3/11: Never forget!
Avatar Wed. 12/11/13 1:10pm Uncle Michael:

Even, my younger sibs went to the H.S. 311 came out of. My brother was a Freshman, Nick Hexum's senior year.
  Wed. 12/11/13 1:11pm Jeff G:

Ugh. Not gonna make it to 2pm. Phone battery @ 5% and dropping fast.

And I'm the numbskull who forgot to pack the USB plug thingy...

So tune in to the next Pawn Stars for the conclusion of this riveting episode!
Avatar Wed. 12/11/13 1:12pm listener james from westwood:

i'll likely be using an NYC cab next week (celebrating 5th anniversary of fulltime freelancing w/ a trip to the "welcome to night vale" live show & a stay overnight in NYC) while playing tourist. will def. tip well.
  Wed. 12/11/13 1:12pm jay c:

  Wed. 12/11/13 1:15pm Skirkie:

I had a real shitty cab ride Friday night with a particularly nasty driver.
Avatar Wed. 12/11/13 1:16pm listener james from westwood:

the snow that fell in nj's northern suburbs was perfect: picturesque, but not hazardous.
Avatar Wed. 12/11/13 1:16pm Carmichael:

OK, Hi Amanda and Los Listeners.
Avatar Wed. 12/11/13 1:18pm listener james from westwood:

loving the show, amanda—there's been no good time to dash off to the loo. don't want to miss anything!
Avatar Wed. 12/11/13 1:19pm Uncle Michael:

Of course, by "Even," I mean "Evan. (man, I'll bet he gets sick of that typo)
Avatar Wed. 12/11/13 1:21pm Amanda:

Jeff is going to pawn his phone for $25 which Chumlee will use to get a haircut.
Avatar Wed. 12/11/13 1:21pm ndbob:

Avatar Wed. 12/11/13 1:23pm Amanda:

Hey ndbob and Carmichael! ndbob, good job on the move to the tropics.

James, I claim no responsibility for your bladder/kidney problems!
Avatar Wed. 12/11/13 1:24pm ndbob:

@Amanda whenever I'm cold here I just check the temperature in ND
Avatar Wed. 12/11/13 1:27pm Uncle Michael:

Ok, an hour ago, the Three Dog Night version was playing where I was picking up lunch and then when I got to my desk, a friend had posted a Youtube link to the Randy Newman album version to Facebook and Now Amanda is playing this. I'm not going to any parties.
Avatar Wed. 12/11/13 1:29pm pacific standard simon:

You know this is one of my favorite pieces ever, right?
Avatar Wed. 12/11/13 1:31pm Amanda:

pss -- I guess on some level I did?

Heh, I guess the festive season makes some of us break that song out more readily... come to think of it...
Avatar Wed. 12/11/13 1:38pm Carmichael:

My pool was iced over this morning! It was 25 degrees in California, fer chrissakes ...
Avatar Wed. 12/11/13 1:45pm Carmichael:

@UM: If you would have heard the Eric Burdon version, you'd have had a trifecta!
Avatar Wed. 12/11/13 1:46pm Carmichael:

Is this where the song A Message to You, Rudy came from??
Avatar Wed. 12/11/13 1:49pm ndbob:
