scott at the record fair you should look for a copy of jackie mclean's hipnosis, I actually found it a couple years ago as a double lp blue note release from the late '70s paired with a '62 session w/ sonny clark

I tried to play a file from my computer today and for some reason my computer wouldn't play. So I have a skipping CD, a CD-r burn that also skips, and a computer that won't play. Vinyl is the clear answer. Finally.

Love Hamid Drake. It is SO hard to keep up with that free jazz scene. So many great releases on so many labels.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:05am
tim from champaign:

@ Polk - I've been fortunate enough to have seen Hamid Drake play twice this year.
Avatar 10:05am
doca:

I had an ambientalist impulse a few days ago and I thought if the vinyl resurgence does not means that music fans are getting even more oil dependent than before? I mean, I want the planet to get rid off in some way of non-clean fuel, and only now I realized this has an impact upon my buying and listening habits. I thought I was saving the world buying vinyls.

@Andrew: but there's the fuel-cost to generate electrical power to keep the computers up and running, not to mention fabricating them. I guess I'll just stick to vinyl whenever I can.

Hey Andrew - I got the answer for you about repairing record jackets. I'll dig it up and post it in a second.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:14am
Ike:

@B23@9:41, I heard a strange noise. It was… screaming. Some kind of screaming, like a child's voice. I went downstairs, outside. I crept up into the barn. I was so scared to look inside, but I had to. I saw... apostrophes. And they were screaming. All the apostrophes you've abused lately! HAVE THE APOSTROPHES STOPPED SCREAMING, B23?
Avatar 10:14am
doca:

I suggested my by now girlfriend to see Matthew Shipp when she lived in Lisbon last year. She didn't knew it and said she didn't even thought music like that could exist. I enjoyed the way she spoke of it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:15am
Ike:

First I tried to free the apostrophes. I… I opened the gate to their pen, but they wouldn't run. They just stood there, confused. They wouldn't run. ...I took one apostrophe, and I ran away as fast as I could. I thought, I thought if I could save just one, but… he was so heavy. So heavy.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:15am
DCE:

everytime I hear Chris Forsyth I love it more
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:16am
DCE:

heavy apostrophes, eh...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:17am
tim from champaign:

Hey Andrew: "For the jacket, just using an Elmer’s glue stick should work. Would use a flat head screwdriver or other flat tool to apply the glue by working it down along the seam. The key here is to then apply enough pressure so that excess glue comes out...wiping it away with a damp paper towel. Then use some heavy objects and place on top of the jacket so the glue dries (probably could use something like office binder clips as well, but these may not provide equal pressure along the entire edge)."
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:17am
Andrew Waterloo:

@tim, 1000 thousands thanks for remembering
Avatar 10:19am
Polk Biggins:

@Andrew Waterloo @doca Seeing Shipp is a revelation. He elevates piano playing to some kind of primordial art.
Avatar 10:21am
doca:

@Polk: I wish I have already seen him, unfortunately I never went abroad and he never came to Brazil (or to Porto Alegre). I've seen Ken Vandermark, Mats Gustafsson and Peter Brötzmann thought. But that's a short list for a free jazz enthusiast
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:23am

@I.K.E. Prednisone is a miracle drug that has saved my life repeatedly and it makes me completely batshit crazy. Being on a large dose makes me act like a coke addict and then tapering down and trying to get off of it makes me act like... well, a coke addict. The fact that I still have friends after 2 1/2 months of being on this shit really says something about my friends.

"outremer" means "beyond the sea". Its most common use in france is to refer to islands still controlled by france, remnants of its colonial empire

I believe another appropriate translation for outremer would be overseas.
