Avatar    Tue. 11/19/13 12:04pm DCE:

Tony, I've got my 5 year old daughter saying "...and I am back" in that...particular way you do it...!
Avatar Tue. 11/19/13 12:05pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

Wheee, Staalplaat!
Avatar    Tue. 11/19/13 12:06pm Rich in Washington:

greetings, Tony!
Avatar Tue. 11/19/13 12:07pm Tony Coulter:

Hey Rich and Kay!

DCE: Hope your daughter doesn't turn out to be a serial killer.
Avatar    Tue. 11/19/13 12:08pm DCE:

naw, she's probably going to be a serial dresser though...likes to change clothes every hour.
Avatar Tue. 11/19/13 12:09pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

Getting a slightly bent Holy Modal Rounders vibe from somewhere...
Avatar Tue. 11/19/13 12:09pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

...more than slightly bent...
Avatar Tue. 11/19/13 12:10pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

...which is a good thing...
Avatar    Tue. 11/19/13 12:10pm Carmichael:

No kidding, Toinip. I was thinking the very same Pete Staempfel thing.
Avatar Tue. 11/19/13 12:15pm Tony Coulter:

The Holy Modal Rounders meet the Residents, maybe?
Avatar    Tue. 11/19/13 12:17pm DCE:

we're having an office potluck today and nobody even tried my chickpea curry. Guess I'll be eating it all week then bwaahaahaa!
Avatar Tue. 11/19/13 12:17pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

Definitely heard some of this before; either from this cassette or the other issue(s) you mentioned. Great to hear all this.
Avatar    Tue. 11/19/13 12:18pm Rich in Washington:

Upload some of it for us, DCE! I love that kind of stuff!
Avatar    Tue. 11/19/13 12:19pm DCE:

Avatar Tue. 11/19/13 12:22pm Tony Coulter:

Greets, Mr. Oats!
Avatar Tue. 11/19/13 12:23pm Tony Coulter:

@ Turnip: About half the tracks on this tape are also on their vinyl releases.
Avatar Tue. 11/19/13 12:27pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

Aye, Tony -- Likely from the vinyl. I jettisoned most of my record collection in 1992, which I still regret like selling my kidneys for three magic beans...... or worse.
Avatar Tue. 11/19/13 12:27pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

...but it's recovering nicely, no small thanks to FMU.
Avatar    Tue. 11/19/13 12:27pm Rich in Washington:

@DCE: no. We're just DSL. I'll have to take 'em one chickpea at a time...
Avatar Tue. 11/19/13 12:32pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

god. this is wonderful.
Avatar Tue. 11/19/13 12:34pm Tony Coulter:

I'm looking for something endearingly ridiculous.
Avatar Tue. 11/19/13 12:39pm northguineahills:

Great stuff!
Avatar Tue. 11/19/13 12:40pm Tony Coulter:

Hey, U.M.! Might have to wait until next week for that, sad to say!

Hey, NGH!
Avatar    Tue. 11/19/13 12:41pm Uncle Michael:

I'll be the judge of that.
Avatar    Tue. 11/19/13 12:43pm Rich in Washington:

This is fantastic, Tony! So weird in its variety. Fun stuff!
Avatar Tue. 11/19/13 12:44pm Tony Coulter:

Agreed on the variety fer sure!
Avatar Tue. 11/19/13 12:48pm Tony Coulter:

And the fantasticness, of course.
Avatar    Tue. 11/19/13 12:56pm listener james from westwood:

a wild ride in headphones, this recording!
Avatar Tue. 11/19/13 1:00pm Tony Coulter:

Ride 'em, cowboy!
Avatar Tue. 11/19/13 1:01pm Tony Coulter:

But don't spill your coffee.....
Avatar    Tue. 11/19/13 1:04pm Uncle Michael:

I tightened up my chin strap.
Avatar Tue. 11/19/13 1:07pm Chris from DC:

Dang, late for Tape Hiss.
Avatar    Tue. 11/19/13 1:07pm listener james from westwood:

a public service announcement: back up your hard drives or other storage regularly. this is the 2nd time a backup has saved my ass this month alone (the first was when smoke began rising from my work computer on 11/1 and i had to rescue my labors from the external hd). back up frequently and redundantly, including any mp3s!
Avatar Tue. 11/19/13 1:08pm Tony Coulter:

Hiya, Chris!
Avatar    Tue. 11/19/13 1:11pm listener james from westwood:

all hail the hypnotoad!
Avatar Tue. 11/19/13 1:13pm Tony Coulter:

I wasn't twiddling with the controls just then -- those odd dropouts are just as god intended.
Avatar    Tue. 11/19/13 1:16pm listener james from westwood:

if it weren't for odd dropouts, we'd have no "on the road" or apple computer!
Avatar Tue. 11/19/13 1:17pm Tony Coulter:

Ha!
Avatar    Tue. 11/19/13 1:22pm Rich in Washington:

That's what I always tell people: I'm a college dropout, just like Steve Jobs, Bill Gates and Hitler.
Avatar Tue. 11/19/13 1:23pm Tony Coulter:

Oops: "breast," not "beast."
Avatar Tue. 11/19/13 1:25pm Tony Coulter:

Was Hitler a college dropout, as well as an art school reject? No wonder he had such a chip on his shoulder.
Avatar    Tue. 11/19/13 1:28pm Uncle Michael:

I think that guy had a bit of an attitude problem.
Avatar Tue. 11/19/13 1:31pm Tony Coulter:

Too bad Doctor Phil couldn't have staged an intervention.
Avatar    Tue. 11/19/13 1:36pm Carmichael:

As an English major, I always appreciate the William Congreve quotation.

And I think Bugs Bunny used "beast" instead of "breast" when referring to the Tasmanian Devil.
Avatar    Tue. 11/19/13 1:38pm Uncle Michael:

I live to soothe breasts.
Avatar Tue. 11/19/13 1:39pm Tony Coulter:

You savage!
Avatar Tue. 11/19/13 1:44pm Tony Coulter:

I guess maybe what makes Les Objets Insolites a "group" is that they are all using the same set of instruments (the "Objets").
Avatar Tue. 11/19/13 1:47pm Chris from DC:

Oh, a Moondog cover, nice.
Avatar Tue. 11/19/13 1:51pm Tony Coulter:

Aha! Right you are! Didn't realize, actually.
Avatar Tue. 11/19/13 1:54pm Chris from DC:

Been on kind of a Moondog kick lately.
Avatar Tue. 11/19/13 1:56pm Tony Coulter:

I've always liked the Big Brother cover of "All Is Loneliness" (on the first LP).
Avatar    Tue. 11/19/13 1:59pm Uncle Michael:

fiveminuteflames.com...

Me too. Big kick...
  Tue. 11/19/13 2:01pm ?:

finally caught tape hiss! awesome tony
Avatar Tue. 11/19/13 2:02pm Tony Coulter:

Thanks, Question Mark!
Avatar Tue. 11/19/13 2:07pm northguineahills:

Le Tombeau is new to me, awesome!
Avatar Tue. 11/19/13 2:10pm Tony Coulter:

They had three albums, but all were cassette-only -- which pretty much meant instant obscurity, unfortunately.
Avatar Tue. 11/19/13 2:10pm Chris from DC:

Someone should really reissue this, but you probably get that a lot.
Avatar Tue. 11/19/13 2:12pm Tony Coulter:

Maybe Vinyl-on-Demand will one of these days -- would fit with his other reissues.
Avatar Tue. 11/19/13 2:24pm Tony Coulter:

As I said, all of side B (on now) is live.
  Tue. 11/19/13 2:25pm ?:

Le Tombeau is great! Where to begin with Vinyl On Demand?? Has he released anything along these lines?
Avatar Tue. 11/19/13 2:30pm Tony Coulter:

The new Los Paranos is really good. And the Insane Music Box is great. Also, the M Squared box is fab. His box sets are expensive, though.
Avatar Tue. 11/19/13 2:31pm Tony Coulter:

None of those are that much like Le Tombeau -- but they are really good.
  Tue. 11/19/13 2:35pm ?:

Oh wow, I am familiar with some Neffe material, mainly through your show! I love that material and also MAL (I realize now this is a VOD re-issue!). Thanks for the tips Tony!
-devoted listener Questionmark
Avatar Tue. 11/19/13 2:37pm Tony Coulter:

Oh yeah, the MAL is great too! Neffe released this Le Tombeau, by the way.
Avatar Tue. 11/19/13 2:42pm Tony Coulter:

Don't actually have the MAL VOD box -- I've got the EE Tapes CD reissues, but I believe there's a lot of overlap.
Avatar Tue. 11/19/13 2:44pm Tony Coulter:

Moondogging again!
  Tue. 11/19/13 2:47pm ?:

There is some overlap in the MAL material - which is great - a few of the more interesting tracks you played on the MAL show are not on the vinyl re-issue
Avatar Tue. 11/19/13 2:53pm northguineahills:

Man, awesome digs, Tony, thanks!
Avatar    Tue. 11/19/13 2:53pm Uncle Michael:

Thanks Tony.
Avatar    Tue. 11/19/13 2:54pm listener james from westwood:

thanks for the mighty tape hiss, tony!
Avatar Tue. 11/19/13 2:55pm Tony Coulter:

Finishing a bit early today, because I don't have any two-minute cassette albums.
Avatar Tue. 11/19/13 3:15pm Tony Coulter:

Thanks for tuning in, everybody! See you next week.
Avatar Tue. 11/19/13 4:48pm Kay:

Music no longer unheard
