Hi, Meghan and all! I was trying to remember (with Wikipedia's assistance) the location of Togo and Cameroon and so our journey today will start on Togo, then it passes through Benin and Nigerian and ends on Cameroon, right, Meghan?

There was a very politically conservative radio host here in Porto Alegre who used to say when we were struck by a heat wave that it looked like a Senegalese climate. In an ideal world, he would be listening to this show and playing these songs whenever he was reminded of Senegal
Avatar 6:19am
doca:

Just to say that in Brazil heat is associated with poverty and lazyness and low temperatures are associated with Europe and wealth and "culture"

yes, Matt, but sometimes this translates into not really good political actions, especially in a off-center country as Brazil.

"African Scream Contest: Raw & Psychedelic Afro Sounds from Benin & Togo 70s" - Benin has some great music. We should be approaching Gabon soon, that country has great music as well.

@MvS Standard fare, like you'd get from a sub shop in the tristate. A long menu. Served from a small catering wagon or whatever ya wanna call it. But really dynamite stuff. I think with the exchange it was about 8€.

we get cherymoyas here, called Custard Apples. They are yum ^_^
sweet tasting.
they carried breadfruit on Cook's voyages.
have seen rambutan, but not eaten one.
ooh, star fruit - carambola, that is yum! sweet, tangy flavour, pretty distinct.
ooh, dragonfruit is also cool ^_^ it's like icecream ^_^
number 1 is miracle fruit from west africa, I imagine them eating one while making this music ^_^

Hey Meghan, thanks for doing your thing x
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:35am
Matt from Springfield:

@Andrew: Some effort was made to record sounds in Africa back in the early 1900s; probably couldn't take field recordings, so they prob brought musicians to a central studio. Doug Schulkind and Brian Turner have played some very old African recordings, have to search for the comp's name...
