Avatar 7:11am fxo:

Sem: as you stated, the archives will be put up on the WFMU.org website, in a few hours. Sorry, dude.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:19am Sem Chumbo:

Avatar 7:24am kat330:

Back now, showered and with our breakfasts in front of us! Hiya, MK!

YOU know about that "birthday" dingus, fxo. :)
Avatar 7:28am fxo:

I thought the Dingus ate the baby.
Avatar 7:29am Philo Gristle:

G'morn Frank and listenerds. Had to just briefly poke my nose in to let you know it's been a wonderful set today. Will soon hop on the bike and freeze myself on the way to work (know it's cold from going to a jog earlier!). Holadios!
Avatar 7:29am kat330:

Ha! You take the birthday cake, Frank! :)
Avatar 7:30am kat330:

Hunaja, I should "jog" your memory about proper English preposition usage. ;) "on" not "to" a jog. But it will be TO a job in a couple of minutes.
Avatar 7:32am Philo Gristle:

Before signing off: DJ Spooky was into Philip K. Dick during this album phase.... PKD was instrumental in getting kat & I together. Bye, owl!
Avatar 7:35am kat330:

This piece is very instrumental.
Avatar 7:41am fxo:

you two are too literal (instrumental, indeed)
  7:43am Marmalade Kitty:

I thought heard aretha Franklin? I did! I did!!
Are singles going steady this week?
Avatar 7:44am kat330:

We two are only one now -- Philo's off "on" work. Where are some of the usual suspects today? Rev. and Mauri?
  7:51am Marmalade Kitty:

Is this a remix or did they jam?
  7:52am Marmalade Kitty:

remix!
Avatar 7:53am duke:

This sounds like John Lee riffing over an old Doors' record.
Avatar 7:56am duke:

Personally, I think they should get that Morrison guy out of there and let Hooker take over.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:56am Ken From Hyde Park:

Brilliant Roadhouse number.
  7:57am Randy:

That Doors/JL Hooker mash-up was perfect. Who put it together?
Avatar 7:59am fxo:

yes!... all of the above.

Ken: cool. eh?
Randy: they did it together, the mix is not mine.
Avatar 8:04am Windy City:

Avatar 8:22am mauri:

Terve Kat! Just got back home to listen the show...
Avatar 8:27am kat330:

Schedule-wise, looks as though never the twain shall meet, meaning Philo the Finn and you. Now if he got the slew of Federal and bank holidays many do, then more often.
Avatar 8:33am Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

  8:38am diabetic dave:

Avatar 8:38am Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...loves 1st album - 'Electric Music for Mind & Body' - an interesting comparison to 1sts by the Dead, Floyd - & plagiarized notably by Ultimate Spinach, this track - altho' I love them too...

- Hullo fellow Dave! I'm 50 on Sunday. I don't understand it >@ all<. I'm mentally five (International Poster-Child for Birth-Order Babies), so presume it's a decimal error...
  8:39am diabetic dave:

I didn't think ide make it to 46 given all my health problems
Avatar 8:39am kat330:

Well, Rabbit, you'll get the birthday gift of an extra hour next week!
Avatar 8:39am fxo:

Dave: happy birthday, and check in for your intake.

Mr. Babbs, I presume?
Rev: good call. Their moment in "Monterey Pop!" is psychedelically phenomenal.
  8:42am diabetic dave:

  8:42am Marmalade Kitty:

Happy birthday week! Dave, RR
Birthday week means you must catch *at least* one gig, one restauraunt, 5 bars/pubs, chocolate! and something else..!

Avatar 8:43am kat330:

@RR: Frank already took the cake.
  8:43am diabetic dave:

It's a brisk morning but I'm going to visit mom and dad in the cemetery
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:44am Sem Chumbo:

Just as the sun breaks out, I get Mr. Havens and some serious flashbacks to time spent this time of year in SF. Perfect, nothing less.
Avatar 8:45am Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

MK - like how you think...
...Sitting on a stoop in SF made me really wish I could play acoustic guitar like Jorma...
Avatar 8:47am fxo:

burp!, pardon me...
  8:47am Marmalade Kitty:

..or if you think you have the energy, Birthday fortnight!!
Avatar 8:48am Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Avatar 8:49am duke:

Happy birthday to you Rabbit
  8:49am diabetic dave:

For once I'll have a nice birthday night! Tickets to see the Giants / Vikings game in MetLife stadium
Avatar 8:50am Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Cheers Duke!
- & I hope this year brings you some satisfaction & pleasure, diabetic dave!
Avatar 8:50am kat330:

Not much time to get back into it, but I thought more about the "lateral" singing dingus discussed last week. What it really is is country "twang." Now I grew up in an area and with my dad's radio station playing that twang constantly. Thing is, I don't mind it when it is "authentic," meaning the person singing the twang -- male or female -- speaks in the same way and s/he sings. Has anyone ever heard Valerie June speak, and does she have a thick country twang?
Avatar 8:53am Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

- you mean a kind of mumble, kat? Not opening their mouth enuff? ?
...There's something about Contempo Country Pop40 that makes me think the accent is phony - but what does a Yankee/SoCalifornian like me know??...
Avatar 8:53am kat330:

Before it gets too late, thanks, Frank, for the many fine spins this morning!
Avatar 8:53am fxo:

good luck with the Giants.

Gettin' ready to bail. Thanks for the cool comments, and you'll hear me with my next webcast, same time, same zone. Or check for this webcast/playlist, in a few hours.
Pax humana.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:54am Sem Chumbo:

"Having been several days in preparation, a splendid time is guaranteed for all." Thanks for this mornings offerings, Frank. See ya later!
Avatar 8:54am kat330:

Mumble's not exactly it, but not opening the mouth differently enough for the different vowel sounds, yep. Nasality is part of it, too.
  8:55am 3d-nyc:

ditto tat Kt330--( fine spins)

will dip into archives later-
have a good week- all
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:55am northguineahills:

Thanks Frank!
Avatar 8:55am Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

WigKey says ValJ's from Tennessee...
  8:55am Marmalade Kitty:

Show, fxo!
Avatar 8:56am kat330:

And yes, that's why I dislike current country music.
Avatar 8:57am kat330:

But NOWadays, folks even from the hills hear normalized voices all their lives -- especially performing artists -- so the twang is never as authentic before media invaded every corner of the planet.
Avatar 9:00am Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

- here in NewHampshuh, I don't know why people speak the way they do, given that 'normalised voices' media exposure - did see one study said regional accents are *increasing*...hard not to judge them less intelligent, truthfully...
  9:04am fxo:

that's what he/said.
  9:08am fxo:

that's what "she/he" said. I'm finnished.
