bit shocked to see that "Banks of the Ohio" didn't make the cut here
Avatar Mon. 9/16/13 11:56am Jeff Golick:

Ha. It's like an earworm disaster area.
Avatar Mon. 9/16/13 12:01pm holland oats:

oh how i love those opening strains - hullo D/O!!!!! ROCK ME AMADEUS!!!
Avatar Mon. 9/16/13 12:07pm Jeff Golick:

Hi there, holland oats! Rock me, I'm a danish.
Avatar Mon. 9/16/13 12:07pm Jeff Golick:

True fact: I played Salieri in a high school production of AMADEUS. Still not entirely sure how that happened.
Avatar Mon. 9/16/13 12:08pm Uncle Michael:

Greetings, lions of Zion.
Avatar Mon. 9/16/13 12:09pm Jeff Golick:

Roar.
Avatar Mon. 9/16/13 12:10pm Doug Schulkind:

I am vacuuming. Turn it up!

Avatar Mon. 9/16/13 12:13pm duke:

Can you strip to Brötzmann?
Avatar Mon. 9/16/13 12:14pm Jeff Golick:

Paint, probably.
Avatar Mon. 9/16/13 12:15pm holland oats:

jeff did you get to say "I speak for all mediocrities in the world. I am their champion. I am their patron saint." BEST LINE EVER!
Avatar Mon. 9/16/13 12:17pm Jeff Golick:

Yeah. That was a tough one to pull off. Not that I needed help with my motivation there...
Avatar Mon. 9/16/13 12:18pm Jeff Golick:

I preferred rehearsing my first and only stage kiss.
Avatar Mon. 9/16/13 12:18pm pacific standard simon:

Wish I was awake. It would be so much easier to type.

Good morning, outlings.
Avatar Mon. 9/16/13 12:20pm listener james from westwood:

hey all! i'm here but i'm under a pile of work. tell the musicians to play LOUD so i can hear 'em!
Avatar Mon. 9/16/13 12:21pm Jeff Golick:

Howdy, pacific standard simon!
And heya, LJfW!
Avatar Mon. 9/16/13 12:22pm listener james from westwood:

i played richard iii in act 1, scene ii of that play. wish the scene had called for kissing. my costar was classically beautiful.
Avatar Mon. 9/16/13 12:22pm listener james from westwood:

(in that she had no arms and was made of marble.)
Avatar Mon. 9/16/13 12:23pm Jeff Golick:

[ba-dum]
Avatar Mon. 9/16/13 12:24pm Jeff Golick:

Are the "play loud" comments sincere requests to turn up the volume of the show?
Avatar Mon. 9/16/13 12:26pm hyde:

this set is killer! (& the volume sounds OK to me as is...)
Avatar Mon. 9/16/13 12:28pm Jeff Golick:

Thanks, hyde. A full three hours of AEC would of course be killer all by itself. Guess who had a birthday last week?
Avatar Mon. 9/16/13 12:35pm hyde:

I'm guessing Joseph Jarman.
Avatar Mon. 9/16/13 12:37pm Jeff Golick:

BINGO!
Avatar Mon. 9/16/13 12:42pm listener james from westwood:

oh. no, my volume mention was just a joke. sorry for the confusion!
Avatar Mon. 9/16/13 12:46pm Shaun:

Late. No go on the AECO :'( Hi, all.
Avatar Mon. 9/16/13 12:51pm Jeff Golick:

Not at all. One mention: easily seen as a joke. When Doug sez it, I get noivus.

@Shaun! Hi -- should be some room left in the back...
Avatar Mon. 9/16/13 12:54pm pacific standard simon:

"Killing the Water Bed" -- a title with a story to tell!
Avatar Mon. 9/16/13 12:57pm Jeff Golick:

@pss: was thinking the exact same thing...
Avatar Mon. 9/16/13 1:05pm Doug Schulkind:

"Vladislav Delay" sounds like some highly advanced option on Pro Tools.
Avatar Mon. 9/16/13 1:06pm pacific standard simon:

heh
Avatar Mon. 9/16/13 1:08pm Jeff Golick:

Anyone w headphones on is getting a little something extra w this one from Ichiraku
Avatar Mon. 9/16/13 1:08pm pacific standard simon:

Wonder if there's a Photoshop filter that does fake record jacket wear.
Avatar Mon. 9/16/13 1:10pm Carmichael:

The theme from Mannix would also be hard to strip to. Believe me.

Hiya Jeffs!
Avatar Mon. 9/16/13 1:10pm pacific standard simon:

You've tried, right?
Avatar Mon. 9/16/13 1:14pm Jeff Golick:

@pss: Always thought this book jacket's fake wear was kind of genius: www.amazon.com...
Avatar Mon. 9/16/13 1:15pm Jeff Golick:

@Carmichael! Welcome aboard!

Sanford & Son theme, on the other hand...
Avatar Mon. 9/16/13 1:16pm pacific standard simon:

"Revolution #9" may be difficult to strip to, but I bet Yoko's done it at least once, if only by coincidence.
Avatar Mon. 9/16/13 1:23pm Jeff Golick:

TURN ME ON, DEAD MAN.
Avatar Mon. 9/16/13 1:24pm listener james from westwood:

lovely stuff so far, jeff!

i face the ultimate lunch tragedy: too few soft tacos for the amount of filling i have. the rest becomes chili, i suppose....
Avatar Mon. 9/16/13 1:24pm Brian in UK:

Arternoon gents. Where's the scene.
Ever tried stripping to 'Ape Call' doodly ubb bub.
Avatar Mon. 9/16/13 1:26pm Brian in UK:

@Doug who was the sax player on the stream yesterday first name Bill. Not sure what time. Can I be more vague, I think not.
Avatar Mon. 9/16/13 1:28pm Brian in UK:

@Doug surname began with a 'B'.

@Shaun got me a Lonnie Holley ticket.
Avatar Mon. 9/16/13 1:29pm Jeff Golick:

@Brian in UK! Was just wondering if we'd see you again! Hi!
Avatar Mon. 9/16/13 1:34pm Doug Schulkind:

@Brian in UK
Bill Barron? Billy Harper?
Avatar Mon. 9/16/13 1:37pm pacific standard simon:

This is about the time I usually have to rush off to work, but it's an unexpected off day. What to do?

@Brian - Billy Barty?
Avatar Mon. 9/16/13 1:38pm Doug Schulkind:

Bill Barron was a wonderful player. He was the older brother of pianist Kenny Barron. Bill was a long-time teacher at Wesleyan University in Connecticut. Back in the early '80s, Bill's wife typed my sisters honor's thesis.
Avatar Mon. 9/16/13 1:43pm hyde:

@Doug now that's the kind of background detail that keeps me tuning in!
Avatar Mon. 9/16/13 1:45pm Brian in UK:

Jeff took a short sojourn to the countryside twas peaceful and starry at night.

Would recommend Niccolò Ammaniti, this Italian gentlemans books are funny but also gives an view into modern day Italy.

@Doug, Bill Barron. Thank you, sir. Any recommendations? Open to anyone here.
Avatar Mon. 9/16/13 1:47pm Jeff Golick:

@hyde: for realz
Avatar Mon. 9/16/13 1:48pm pacific standard simon:

play.spotify.com...
Avatar Mon. 9/16/13 1:51pm Doug Schulkind:

Bill Barron's "Hot Line" is outrageously good. "Modern Windows Suite" is terrific, too. Also look for a number of albums Barron made with trumpeter Ted Curson. "Now, Hear This!" credited to the "Bill Barron, Ted Curson Orchestra" is fabulous. Barron plays on Curson's "The New Thing & The Blue Thing." And several others. All good.
Avatar Mon. 9/16/13 1:54pm Brian in UK:

Could you not be more detailed, Doug!!!!!
Avatar Mon. 9/16/13 1:58pm hyde:

I never bought this Air record, though I used to always see it used. That seems like a mistake now.
Avatar Mon. 9/16/13 1:58pm Brian in UK:

Just kiddin'.

Jeff, is Coming Through Slaughter as good as Ondatejee's fiction?
Avatar Mon. 9/16/13 1:59pm Jeff Golick:

@Brian: YES, though it, too, is fiction!
Avatar Mon. 9/16/13 2:00pm Jeff Golick:

@hyde: admittedly, there is a lot of Air to go around, but I just love Threadgill when he plays more "in." Especially as that is REALLY not his bag now.
Avatar Mon. 9/16/13 2:02pm hyde:

@Jeff me, I miss the hubkaphone
Avatar Mon. 9/16/13 2:03pm Jeff Golick:

@hyde: well, sure.
Avatar Mon. 9/16/13 2:03pm Jeff Golick:

Ack. Was so transfixed, I blew that cue.
Avatar Mon. 9/16/13 2:05pm hyde:

OK, drifting out for a bit. Thanks for the songscapes. Will catch up with last hour in an archival manner.
Avatar Mon. 9/16/13 2:07pm Jeff Golick:

Beautyful, hyde. Thanks for being here!
Avatar Mon. 9/16/13 2:10pm pacific standard simon:

Highly amusing stripper music, here!
Avatar Mon. 9/16/13 2:11pm Jeff Golick:

Perfect for the Tourettic stripper.
Avatar Mon. 9/16/13 2:15pm Brian in UK:

Just seen the time. Oh boy, better feed the animals and prepare some human food. The downside of the stream, I cannot listen on the internet radio. Isn't life tragic.
The last two days have got chill over here when the sun goes down, summer has gone. Thanks for the sounds, gents.
Avatar Mon. 9/16/13 2:16pm Jeff Golick:

Great to have you back, Brian. Happy feeding!
Avatar Mon. 9/16/13 2:50pm northguineahills:

Haven't chimed in, as there are many suits from City Hall going back and forth, and I'm sure how some of them might take the image above (especially since every time my crappy browser refreshes, it goes back to the top).
Avatar Mon. 9/16/13 2:52pm northguineahills:

Didn't Soul Jazz do a bunch of Oliver Lake reissues?
Avatar Mon. 9/16/13 2:54pm Jeff Golick:

@ngh: Not fans of Judy Garland, you mean? No sure re Soul Jazz reissues! Lake's discography is not in the best shape. He's got some stuff that was on Gramavision, now OOP.
Avatar Mon. 9/16/13 2:58pm northguineahills:

Avatar Mon. 9/16/13 3:00pm pacific standard simon:

Damn The Man!
Avatar Mon. 9/16/13 3:02pm Jeff Golick:

Ah! Sweet!
Avatar Mon. 9/16/13 3:03pm Jeff Golick:

The "ah, sweet" was for the @ngh souljazz link, btw.
Avatar Mon. 9/16/13 3:04pm Jeff Golick:

Thanks, listener James!
And, yeah, Simon! Looks like Kitty is saying the same...
