A reflexive, traveling radio production. Each show is spontaneous as a backroom deal, a different guest a different location every week. Two hours of trading records with friends, programming without a prepared playlist. Actually, it goes like this: Jesse Kaminsky travels around Providence and the world with a portable radio show, visits a different person every week and makes spontaneous musical exchanges. We agree to call it radio.

Tuesdays 7 - 9pm (EDT) (Web-only) | On WFMU's Give the Drummer Radio

Avatar    Tue. 9/10/13 7:11pm Jesse K:

from the Italian Star Wars followup StarCrash! Closing the escape pod doors
Avatar    Tue. 9/10/13 7:13pm listener james from westwood:

some of those euro takes on star wars were mighty strange. the turkish one was almost literally extraterrestrial.
Avatar    Tue. 9/10/13 7:17pm Jesse K:

yeah, I think it pretty much embarrassed everyone. To the best of my knowledge, it's all the same footage of special effects with some gentleman in a helmet speaking Turkish superimposed, though I haven't watched it all
Avatar    Tue. 9/10/13 7:21pm Jesse K:

Starcrash had tons of ship models and costume changes and extravagant sets, all of which were reused pretty much wholesale for the followups.

StarkRash..a long time ago in a dermatologist's office far, far away...
Avatar    Tue. 9/10/13 7:44pm listener james from westwood:

enjoying this set a lot!
Avatar    Tue. 9/10/13 7:46pm Jesse K:

thanks James!
Avatar    Tue. 9/10/13 7:56pm Gary:

Harafinso! This is such an awesome album.
Avatar    Tue. 9/10/13 8:01pm Gary:

I have a friend from Nigera who claims her sister learned Hindi watching so many Bollywood films.
Avatar    Tue. 9/10/13 8:06pm Jesse K:

amazing, did she have a use for Hindi once she learned it?
Avatar    Tue. 9/10/13 8:08pm listener james from westwood:

love charlie feathers.
Avatar    Tue. 9/10/13 8:12pm Jesse K:

If you live in fables then you know what I mean
Avatar    Tue. 9/10/13 8:29pm Gary:

Well, the key word there is "claims" ... :) I have no idea if she really honestly learned it or not.
Avatar    Tue. 9/10/13 8:29pm Gary:

I do believe they watched a lotta Bollywood, tho
Avatar    Tue. 9/10/13 8:31pm listener james from westwood:

that would be quite a feat. even after 6 years of spanish, i could only understand about 50% of the dialog on telemundo or univison.
Avatar    Tue. 9/10/13 8:33pm Jesse K:

I'm sure it would help to have a local population to actually interact with, I have the problem of getting bollywood songs stuck in my head but only being able to sing nonesense to them
Avatar    Tue. 9/10/13 8:34pm Jesse K:

sorry for the lack of information on these Brazilian tracks. They're from an assortment of mixtapes found around Rio in 2003 or so, not a lot of documention
Avatar    Tue. 9/10/13 8:37pm Doug Schulkind:

Are you taunting me with those short song titles, Kaminsky?!
Avatar    Tue. 9/10/13 8:38pm Uncle Michael:

Shhh...I'm learning Portuguese.
Avatar    Tue. 9/10/13 8:39pm Jesse K:

Avatar    Tue. 9/10/13 8:52pm glenn:

mumblywood, not bollywood.
Avatar    Tue. 9/10/13 8:54pm glenn:

bombay is now mumbai, therefore bollywood should be mumblywood.
Avatar    Tue. 9/10/13 8:54pm Uncle Michael:

Mumbly Peg would be such a good band name
Avatar    Tue. 9/10/13 8:59pm listener james from westwood:

"i have no swag"—the saddest title an fmu listener can hear
Avatar    Tue. 9/10/13 8:59pm Uncle Michael:

Thank you, Jesse the K.
Avatar    Tue. 9/10/13 9:00pm listener james from westwood:

would the mumblywood soundtracks be mumblycore?
smashing show, jesse; thanks, and good luck with classes!
  Tue. 9/10/13 9:03pm SHORT-Pie:
