Having had the A/C fail for the past week's worth of SoCal heatwave, this set matches my mood perfectly: Lie on the carpet and move as little as possible.

@dale as the first set has made it clear, it's about the money, honey.

As the appropriation of Delerue's music in 'Frances Ha' proves, you could put his cues up against footage of termites having sex and everyone will think the bugs are utterly charming.

R. Crumb & His Cheap Suit Serenaders covered "I'll See You..." in a companionable manner too.

Allowing for the palm frond, perhaps this week's Miss Turntable is dancing for the Sheik Of Araby.

I always think of that great hotel clerk in Paper Moon when I hear this.

*knock knock*
Madeline Khan "Who is it?"

By the way, Monica, were you referencing "Tirez sur le pianiste (Shoot The Piano Player)" the 1960 Truffaut film with Charles Aznavour?
Avatar 7:44pm
Monica:

reeshard - yes, that's it!!... haha, CB1!... davee, i know... K in D, i hear ya...
Avatar 7:45pm
deanland:

It wasn't *my* home decorating faux pas... Many years ago through some accident of the planets being out of alignment (or something of that sort) I made the horrid error of marrying and having children with this person who thought EVERY room should have a border up at the the top of the wall near the ceiling. Yes, every room. Bleh, did that ever look horrible. She actually tried to start a business where she would apply borders to people's walls. After screwing up her one and only client, she abandoned that line of work. Abandonment, come to think of it, was her strong suit.
Avatar 7:48pm
deanland:

I should add for the record that I am now happy as can be, married to Mrs. Yankfan. Nothing borderline about her, that's for sure.
Avatar 7:51pm
Reeshard:

This is my favorite Jacksons track with Michael "Buckaroo Bonzai" Boddicker's fantastic synth work. Have never heard this remix, though.
Avatar 7:51pm
CB1:

CB2 says his biggest decorating faux pas was putting christmas lights of his ceiling of exposed insulation. A neighbor thought his loft was on fire and called the fire dept.
Avatar 7:54pm
CB1:

My biggest faux pas was upholstering all the walls of my apartment with an old red velvet threater curtain.
Avatar 7:54pm
Monica:

CB2 has better taste than that...yeah, pretty hot, reeshard...deanland - happy for the both of youse!!... starwick, great memory...

Windy City:

House is in the house
  8:01pm
trish:

I made terrible paint colour choices in my first couple of apartments. Cheap and badly applied dark forest green for a bedroom I didn't end up living in. And some coloured-toilet-paper shade of lilac I'm not sure how I ended up with.
Avatar 8:02pm
Reeshard:

So who IS Miss Turntables? Not Patti Astor. Nor Gwen Stefani. Surely not Anna Nicole Smith...

While surviving in a condemned duplex, my malnourished art-obsessed and depressed interior design mind had the inspiration to bring sand into the living room and display my ceramics sculpture on it.

i read an article in the globe and mail a few years back about women who were married to architects and designers, and how all the decisions they would make about painting and decorating would be shot down by the hubbys.
there was a LOT of rancour.
  8:12pm
Thierry:

Hi Monica! Nice to come across your show after a night on the town (Lille, northern France).
Avatar 8:13pm

Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:16pm

glenn - i was an art director and my wife sometimes gets pissed that every room was decorated by me. then if we have to make a decision she acquiesces and says 'you're the designer'

At the time I thought it was a winning idea, I told you it came from inspiration....my roommate didn't exactly agree; well sometimes one gets stuck with a bad roommate with no vision.

checking out of the playlist, still have my ears on - luv ya mo!

as long as they pay the rent and don't leave floaters i'm okay with lack of vision.

You're coming in loud and clear on my FM dial! Loving it!
  8:27pm
mushforbrains:

There was no rent involved, it was a condemned building in nowheresville, Oklahoma during the 1978 recession.

The floaters migrated to the back yard where the sewer pipe was broken and expose
Avatar 8:28pm

r i s k y - howdee!!...ha, here here!... you too, dale... deanland - twerk godmother....
  8:31pm
Thierry:

Reading up the accuplaylist, I love (surprising?) those french snippets in American, like 'faux pas'.
I collected a whole list of them.
My favorite are the interjections:

- au contraire! (mock offense)
- c'est la vie! (mock fatalism)
- moi? (mock disbelief)
- qu'est-ce-que-c'est? (mock surprise)
- touché! (mock triumphalism)
- voilà!(mock satisfation)
Avatar 8:33pm
Reeshard:

Forgot about the 'audience' track on "Gitarzan." Now for the evening's big question: Will Floyd Cramer turn up at the break?
  8:33pm
trish:

I lived in another place with this odd closet that wasn't even deep enough for a hanger. So I rigged up a fold-down desk - great t clear the visual decks in one fold-it and shut-the-door swoop. Buh'bye desk. So long computer.
Avatar 8:34pm
Reeshard:

@ Thierry: And then there's 'merde,' which speaks for itself.
Avatar 8:35pm
glenn:

zut alors!
  8:35pm

During my stint in the aformentioned slum my art (painting) instructor at Ok Univ. wrote songs for Ray Stevens.

In pointed contrast to the quotidian means of assembling your show, the broadcast itself is never less than soulful. Today is no exception.
Avatar 8:47pm
Monica:

thierry, j'adore!... clever gal, trish...
  8:57pm

I still haven't forgiven Les Paul for over-recording multiple tracks. He ruined music for everybody!
  8:57pm

@sugarwolf: good command! @Monica: your show is definitely not unconnected to all these smiles.
