A reflexive, traveling radio production. Each show is spontaneous as a backroom deal, a different guest a different location every week. Two hours of trading records with friends, programming without a prepared playlist. Actually, it goes like this: Jesse Kaminsky travels around Providence and the world with a portable radio show, visits a different person every week and makes spontaneous musical exchanges. We agree to call it radio.

It's a calming scent, glenn.
Avatar Tue. 9/3/13 7:02pm northguineahills:

I could use some lavender/mezcal/grapefruit/jalapeno cocktail.
Avatar Tue. 9/3/13 7:02pm northguineahills:

Avatar Tue. 9/3/13 7:03pm Doug Schulkind:

I guess I should walk Jesse's dog while I'm over here.
Avatar Tue. 9/3/13 7:04pm davex:

Don't forget to water the plants...
Avatar Tue. 9/3/13 7:05pm Doug Schulkind:

I think the dog just watered the plants. Oops!
Avatar Tue. 9/3/13 7:08pm listener james from westwood:

plants need nitrogen. dogs need ... to get rid of nitrogen. it's win-win!
Avatar Tue. 9/3/13 7:10pm Doug Schulkind:

I hereby re-name the dog Winwin!
Avatar Tue. 9/3/13 7:11pm davex:

Actually, Nitrogen is a good name for a dog.
Avatar Tue. 9/3/13 7:12pm Doug Schulkind:

{{Keep that between us. I don't think Jesse would appreciate me re-naming his dog.}}

Sit, Nitro, sit. Good Nitro! (Boom!!!)
Avatar Tue. 9/3/13 7:15pm davex:

Yeah, go for a short bike ride, come back, and your dog has a strange new name.
Avatar Tue. 9/3/13 7:16pm Doug Schulkind:

I like to see someone try to rename our new dog. She would bite their tongue off mid vowel.
Avatar Tue. 9/3/13 7:18pm davex:

Sounds like your new dog likes her name.
Avatar Tue. 9/3/13 7:20pm listener james from westwood:

plus the dog is talking. what universe did i return to, asked jesse?
Avatar Tue. 9/3/13 7:22pm davex:

Everything goes in the new Multiverse.
Avatar Tue. 9/3/13 7:23pm Doug Schulkind:

Shhhhh!!! Jesse is almost here.
Avatar Tue. 9/3/13 7:24pm davex:

Quick, delete everything we said.
Avatar Tue. 9/3/13 7:25pm listener james from westwood:

somebody wring out the plant!
Avatar Tue. 9/3/13 7:26pm Doug Schulkind:

Forget that, wring out my ears!
Avatar Tue. 9/3/13 7:28pm davex:

Hold on, she does not sound like a New York secretary.
Avatar Tue. 9/3/13 7:29pm northguineahills:

Ok, I really should leave work. Thanks for holding down the fort, Doug. Ciao y'all!
Avatar Tue. 9/3/13 7:29pm Doug Schulkind:

New York, Mississippi. Silly davex!
Avatar Tue. 9/3/13 7:29pm listener james from westwood:

Avatar Tue. 9/3/13 7:35pm davex:

Come on, Jesse already had a long override today.
Avatar Tue. 9/3/13 7:35pm Doug Schulkind:

Sorry about the dog, Jesse. And the plants.
Avatar Tue. 9/3/13 7:36pm listener james from westwood:

Stop peddling that trash, davex.
Avatar Tue. 9/3/13 7:36pm davex:

Okay, I hear ya, time to shift gears.
Avatar Tue. 9/3/13 7:37pm Jesse K:

Avatar Tue. 9/3/13 7:37pm Jesse K:

Avatar Tue. 9/3/13 7:37pm Jesse K:

it's an honor to have Doug Schulkind filling in for me, I kind of want to just listen
Avatar Tue. 9/3/13 7:38pm Doug Schulkind:

Don't wait for the end of the song, Jesse. Because of the delay. You should just jump in in the next 90 seconds.
Avatar Tue. 9/3/13 7:39pm Doug Schulkind:

"In in" looks funny.
Avatar Tue. 9/3/13 7:41pm Doug Schulkind:

Thanks Doug, for the double shift!
Avatar Tue. 9/3/13 7:45pm davex:

Avatar Tue. 9/3/13 7:47pm Jesse K:

Avatar Tue. 9/3/13 7:50pm Jesse K:

Avatar Tue. 9/3/13 8:02pm davex:

Oops, volume is down again, I think.
Avatar Tue. 9/3/13 8:03pm listener james from westwood:

there we go!!
Avatar Tue. 9/3/13 8:03pm davex:

Much better!
Avatar Tue. 9/3/13 8:08pm davex:

So how long does it take from Boston normally?
Avatar Tue. 9/3/13 8:10pm Jesse K:

it depends on how you go, the most direct route is the worst, pretty much like riding on a highway the whole time. we took a longer but more scenic route, stopped for lunch and a long multiple-flat fix and it took me 6 hours
Avatar Tue. 9/3/13 8:10pm Jesse K:

but I'm sure you could easily do it in less if you have fine weather and no mechanical problems
Avatar Tue. 9/3/13 8:11pm Jesse K:

the only other time I biked it was going up and I had another flat and it was raining. Took 5 hours.
Avatar Tue. 9/3/13 8:12pm davex:

Not too bad. How fast do you average? And why all the flat tires?
Avatar Tue. 9/3/13 8:17pm Jesse K:

well, the first one was just from riding through a bunch of junk on the side of the road and getting a big metal bristle through my tube. The one today should have been avoided, my tires are a little worn out and I have a brand new gatorskin sitting at home. lessons learned-again
Avatar Tue. 9/3/13 8:19pm davex:

That's terrible if the roads are messed up like that. I'm all for scenic routes, though.
Avatar Tue. 9/3/13 8:20pm listener james from westwood:

friend and former boss of mine cycled from bloomfield, nj to one town north of me (our workplace) to see if it could be done sans highways. this was 92, so he plotted out his route on paper and everything.
route was prob. something like one of these. maps.google.com...
Avatar Tue. 9/3/13 8:23pm Jesse K:

this was roughly our route today: maps.google.com...
Avatar Tue. 9/3/13 8:24pm davex:

I go out of my way to avoid major roads - or roads in general, if possible. There are quite a few long-distance bike trails here, although they vary from real asphalt bike roads to narrow dirt tracks to segments of major roads, depending on where you are.
Avatar Tue. 9/3/13 8:24pm davex:

Jesse, I'm getting just a map of Providence.
Avatar Tue. 9/3/13 8:36pm Jesse K:

ok maybe this link works: bit.ly/1ecv5HR
Avatar Tue. 9/3/13 8:39pm davex:

Nice route - are those all roads or are there any bike-dedicated trails?
Avatar Tue. 9/3/13 8:42pm Jesse K:

all roads, it was recommended by a friend, the first time I rode it and I might have forgotten a few connections. Some of these roads were really small and scenic and others were pretty fast and lousy, I guess that's unavoidable long distance
Avatar Tue. 9/3/13 8:44pm listener james from westwood:

heckuva spin, that route. enjoy whatever post-ride nutrition you decide upon!
Avatar Tue. 9/3/13 8:47pm northguineahills:

Back home for the last 13 minutes.
Avatar Tue. 9/3/13 8:47pm davex:

Yeah, have a good evening - thanks for jumping right in to do the show!
Avatar Tue. 9/3/13 8:54pm northguineahills:

Gotta subs turned up, thanks Jesse!
Avatar Tue. 9/3/13 8:54pm Jesse K:

welcome back NGH, it's been a short and sweet night tonight but I was constructing sets in my mind as I limped back home
Avatar Tue. 9/3/13 8:55pm Jesse K:

thanks James,
I haven't eaten yet since getting back. looking forward to it. ack, how did it get to be 855!?!?!?
Avatar Tue. 9/3/13 8:57pm davex:

Good night, Jesse, James, NGH...
Avatar Tue. 9/3/13 8:58pm Jesse K:

forgot that part was in there, I'm playing one more song no matter what the boss says
Avatar Tue. 9/3/13 8:59pm Uncle Michael:

Avatar Tue. 9/3/13 8:59pm Jesse K:
