Avatar Thu. 8/29/13 3:10pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

@Steve: Kamikaze killed it. Killed it with FIRE. Now Fabio starts with the Wishart (a favorite). I may faint.
Avatar Thu. 8/29/13 3:11pm steve:

Avatar Thu. 8/29/13 3:13pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

Avatar Thu. 8/29/13 3:17pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...amazing how good that was thru one-inch spkrs. @ werk...
Avatar Thu. 8/29/13 3:23pm Carmichael:

OK, will be drifting in and out of today's show. But I'll be here for the good bits.
Avatar Thu. 8/29/13 3:25pm Cheri Pi:

I've been monitoring RTD all day, keeping him hydrated, fed, replacing his corneas when they get burnt out from clicky-star blow-back, reminding him to relax his peplum lest it wreck him...
Avatar Thu. 8/29/13 3:26pm Chris from DC:

This is one of the good bits.
Avatar Thu. 8/29/13 3:26pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...Thur. is my 'Monday'
- muggy here...had *two* Monster drinks & still feel like wunna Lovecraft's lower fungi...Thx @ least for a Soundtrack that makes sense...@ this rate RTD we're gonna fill all the available emergency ward spaces...

Avatar Thu. 8/29/13 3:30pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Avatar Thu. 8/29/13 3:31pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

bathtub fulla peplum bismol.
getting weird over here.
Avatar Thu. 8/29/13 3:37pm northguineahills:

fiszxt!
Avatar Thu. 8/29/13 3:39pm DCE:

I may just eat this entire chocolate bunny. It has pretzel pieces inside.
Avatar Thu. 8/29/13 3:42pm Cheri Pi:

I had some chocolate puddin' during Kamikaze, I didn't want to brag then, but I do now.
Avatar Thu. 8/29/13 3:43pm northguineahills:

Deep Music's track title is rather appropriate.
Avatar Thu. 8/29/13 3:44pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

The siren song of the vegan soul-food truck took me away from the Kamikaze for a bit, but I'll surely be hugging the archives asap.....
Avatar Thu. 8/29/13 3:44pm DCE:

erm...gotta turn this one down, hairy eyeballs starting to float around the office...
Avatar Thu. 8/29/13 3:46pm Mike East:

I want puddin'. I want vegan soul food.
But I can't complain. I had my wife's rice n beans smothered in hot sauce for lunch. She makes 'em the best.
Avatar Thu. 8/29/13 3:47pm Cheri Pi:

What didja have for lunch? I must know.
Avatar Thu. 8/29/13 3:47pm northguineahills:

Don't worry,DCE. I'll turn it up on my end to make up for your decrescendo.
Avatar Thu. 8/29/13 3:48pm northguineahills:

I had non-vegan soul food from the farmers market.
Avatar Thu. 8/29/13 3:50pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

veg [tvp] broiled fish sandwich & mountain of garlic kale. The brick-&-mortar place is about a block from home, the truck is new. Sinful convenience. Magical grub. The garlic kale could fell an army.
Avatar Thu. 8/29/13 3:50pm northguineahills:

(Been eating vegan for the last 5 days, needed some animal protein).
Avatar Thu. 8/29/13 3:52pm DCE:

they make tvp "fish"?? that's kinda strange...
Avatar Thu. 8/29/13 3:52pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

...and then there's Soul Vegetarian Kitchen a few blocks south, and that place has been around for ages. So it's not as quirky an idea as one might think.
Avatar Thu. 8/29/13 3:53pm Cheri Pi:

I've been eating vegan for 17 I think, but it all ends once I visit The Antlers in Sault St. Marie, by recommendation.
Avatar Thu. 8/29/13 3:55pm northguineahills:

Now I'm craving sauteed and salted chapulines.
Avatar Thu. 8/29/13 3:55pm DCE:

...wait for it...
Avatar Thu. 8/29/13 3:55pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

...or there was. Looks like Soul Veg closed a while back. Haven't had to venture down there since the other place opened. The sweet potato pie alone was worth killing uncountable scores of people.
Avatar Thu. 8/29/13 3:55pm Cheri Pi:

I make the best fake-ass ribs and mustard greens, green beans slow cooked with "ham" and potatoes, macaroni casserole and corn bread. i think there's even a Vegan Soulfood cookbook out there in space somewhere.
Avatar Thu. 8/29/13 3:56pm northguineahills:

Aaron Martin, new to me and nice (w/ a great first name). Kuupuu!
Avatar Thu. 8/29/13 3:56pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

KUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU-PUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU!
Avatar Thu. 8/29/13 3:56pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

Same here, re: the antlers.
Avatar Thu. 8/29/13 3:56pm northguineahills:

I have mustard greens growing on my fire escape. I make great vegan mustard greens.
Avatar Thu. 8/29/13 3:57pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

vegan fire escape. That hits the spot.
Avatar Thu. 8/29/13 3:57pm DCE:

there it was!
Avatar Thu. 8/29/13 3:57pm Cheri Pi:

do they make vegan Puffin?
Avatar Thu. 8/29/13 3:58pm Cheri Pi:

Clicky-stars need guitars.
Avatar Thu. 8/29/13 4:08pm northguineahills:

I had puffin in Iceland, my veggie gf almost punched me at the restaurant. (but, I got her to eat Hakarl [b/c, when are you going to get a chance to eat that])
Avatar Thu. 8/29/13 4:09pm steve:

Love your shows, Fabio.. and your love of film.. keep on keepin on!
Avatar Thu. 8/29/13 4:17pm Mike East:

they're showing the Metropolis restoration again at Film Forum on Monday. On the other end of the spectrum, they showed Plan 9 from Outer Space yesterday.
Avatar Thu. 8/29/13 4:18pm fred:

Anne-James Chaton rules. I really hated him the first time I heard him, boy did I change my mind
Avatar Thu. 8/29/13 4:33pm DCE:

sounds like a pretty good conference...consider this my rsvp
Avatar Thu. 8/29/13 4:35pm northguineahills:

I really dig Anne-James Chaton as well. He also chooses great collaborators.
Avatar Thu. 8/29/13 4:35pm northguineahills:

Well, Urban Sax/Pierre Henry, new to me....
Avatar Thu. 8/29/13 4:37pm northguineahills:

After work yesterday, I went to Hank's Saloon. There, behind the bar, was a visor in Eritrean and English, w/ a fist that said, "20 years of dictatorship is too much!". Didn't know there was a an Eritrean expat community on Atlantic Ave.
Avatar Thu. 8/29/13 4:38pm northguineahills:

Neu Faust, takes me back to 90s mixtapes.....
Avatar Thu. 8/29/13 4:43pm Cecile:

Rev is right - Joe's show was great, Diane's was, and this sounds awesome too.
Avatar Thu. 8/29/13 4:43pm Cheri Pi:

Ngh! We're getting ghost peppers and Scorpions at work, my coworker grows them! Have you ever cooked with them in the whole?
Avatar Thu. 8/29/13 4:46pm Cecile:

NO. I can barely handle Scotch bonnets or habs. I use maybe 1/2 pepper for a whole huge dish.
Avatar Thu. 8/29/13 4:46pm northguineahills:

Yes, I have, Cheri Pi. Use sparingly according to your taste. It adds great flavor, but too much, you'll be seeing space coyotes.
Avatar Thu. 8/29/13 4:47pm northguineahills:

Jimbo O'Rourke produced this Faustian delight.
Avatar Thu. 8/29/13 4:47pm Cecile:

sorry, you were talking to ngh, who has an iron stomach. carry on.
Avatar Thu. 8/29/13 4:47pm Cecile:

hahahahahaha, ngh. You'll see space coyotes that sound like Johnny Cash.
Avatar Thu. 8/29/13 4:47pm northguineahills:

None of my scotch bonnets came through this year. I still have my jalapeno bush from last year that is spicier then most habs.
Avatar Thu. 8/29/13 4:49pm Cheri Pi:

Not at all Cecile!! This morning I went to the spice shop after my dental appt (I have a cavity dagnabbit!) and bought powdered ghost pepper too. I'm moving on up.
Avatar Thu. 8/29/13 4:50pm Cheri Pi:

Space Coyotes, now there's a concept worth exploring...
Avatar Thu. 8/29/13 4:52pm Chris from DC:

You know, what would go nice with those scotch bonnets is a good saison. Oh heck, I'll just skip the peppers and go right to the beer.
Avatar Thu. 8/29/13 4:53pm common:

speaking of peppers: my friends and I just made our 1st 3 batches of hot sauce a few weeks ago. x, xx and xxx. wanna get one of them ghost peppers.
Avatar Thu. 8/29/13 4:53pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

Back from meeting. BAD MEETING for interrupting fabio. No meeting biscuit.
Avatar Thu. 8/29/13 4:56pm Ike:

This is the music of the space coyotes for sure.
Avatar Thu. 8/29/13 5:00pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

My copy of Rien came with a 10" that has one of my favorite Faust tracks ever, forget the name but it's solid as hell.
Avatar Thu. 8/29/13 5:01pm northguineahills:

I realized at work, using my home made hot sauce during my lunch at my desk is impossible w/o beer.
Avatar Thu. 8/29/13 5:03pm Cecile:

The man has his foot on my neck.
Avatar Thu. 8/29/13 5:03pm northguineahills:

Luck hoser, rev, I got Rien on vinyl w/in a week it came out, no 10 inch for me. But it did come w/ a Faust poster, that a mad ex-gf tore up years ago.
Avatar Thu. 8/29/13 5:07pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

no poster in mine, but a handsome gatefold sleeve (10" with small jacket stuffed in the other half of the gatefold) ... a groovy one.
Avatar Thu. 8/29/13 5:11pm johnforz:

@REV - any chance you know the name of the tracks on the 10"?
Avatar Thu. 8/29/13 5:12pm fred:

@NGH: you're in a tough spot now. Which shall give: the beer or the sauce? There might be a TV franchise in there. It seems there have been shows with less existentially compelling premises
Avatar Thu. 8/29/13 5:13pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

oh fracking hell, I remembered it wrong. The LP isn't Rien, it's Ravvivando. With the 10". The groovy track in question is www.youtube.com...
Avatar Thu. 8/29/13 5:13pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

Clearly I need to be euthanized.
Avatar Thu. 8/29/13 5:14pm northguineahills:

The On the Corner Session Box Set is one of my faves of all time.
Avatar Thu. 8/29/13 5:15pm northguineahills:

The lad from Circle said Ravvivando was his top record.
Avatar Thu. 8/29/13 5:15pm johnforz:

sweeet! i shall be on the discogs lookout for this one...
Avatar Thu. 8/29/13 5:15pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

"high praise" indeed.
Avatar Thu. 8/29/13 5:16pm fred:

@RTD: you had a meeting, PTSD is a recognized ailment now. Meetings should be banned, at least when the station is on.
  Thu. 8/29/13 5:17pm Bill:

Saw "Thief" last week with James (Jimmy!) Caan and Tuesday Weld, written and directed by Michael Mann--I was impressed by him. This is sooo 70's, with a great respect for detail. Awesome visuals--70s cities peeps. The music is by Tangerine Dream!!!!
Avatar Thu. 8/29/13 5:21pm Chris from DC:

Extended weekend holiday beersies starts now. Excellent show.
Avatar Thu. 8/29/13 5:22pm fred:

Beersies? Did someone say beersies?
Avatar Thu. 8/29/13 5:22pm Carmichael:

OK, well so much for listening in. Just got back into the orifice .. er ... office. Great playlist though, Fab. Will have to de-archive this episode. Now screech, good Captain!!
Avatar Thu. 8/29/13 5:23pm northguineahills:

Licking my clicky stars....
Avatar Thu. 8/29/13 5:24pm northguineahills:

Last week was meetings 8-6. This week, I'm left alone. Much more fun.
Avatar Thu. 8/29/13 5:24pm fred:

How I wish Brotzmann would do things like that these days...
Avatar Thu. 8/29/13 5:26pm fred:

@NGH: could you use a few drops of your homemade sauce in the water to shorten meetings? just a thought...
Avatar Thu. 8/29/13 5:27pm Fredericks:

I like when Fabio plays his jazz. It's my jazz, too.
Avatar Thu. 8/29/13 5:28pm northguineahills:

I lieu of caffeine, I have used hot sauce to keep me awake during long meetings.
Avatar Thu. 8/29/13 5:29pm steve:

ngh - a lemon squeezed into a glass of water works great too. ive been hooked on lemon water for years
  Thu. 8/29/13 5:31pm Garielle:

Blow that thing
Avatar Thu. 8/29/13 5:32pm fred:

@NGH: how puzzling. I thought long meetings were there to catch up after longer-than-expected gigs. I abstain from coffee before monthly teem meetings. What I'd like is a way to prevent snoring, not sleep
  Thu. 8/29/13 5:33pm Fred2fred:

Great new band from Hungary: Meat into flesh.
Avatar Thu. 8/29/13 5:35pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

Coffee doesn't work anymore. I need to detox and start again. This will not be pretty.
Avatar Thu. 8/29/13 5:38pm northguineahills:

I quite coffee 3 years ago (my GI tract doesn't seem to like it), but I'll do a shot of espresso every few months.
Avatar Thu. 8/29/13 5:40pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

yerba mate keeps the headaches at bay (rhyme not intended, but it's awesome), so it's like the methodone of coffee detox. But it's not like a true cuppa black mothers-milk rocket fuel... sigh.
Avatar Thu. 8/29/13 5:42pm northguineahills:

Just finished my homemade iced yerba mate. Tea makes me nauseous w/o a full stomach, but yerba mate is fine. Plus, it staves off hunger pains.
Avatar Thu. 8/29/13 5:43pm fred:

I can't quite quit coffee, it would run against the by-laws of the software developer's guild. Your blood has to be at least 50% coffee. Remind me to stay away from RTD during his detox
Avatar Thu. 8/29/13 5:43pm glenn:

coffee...doesn't...work anymore? my deepest sympathies.
Avatar Thu. 8/29/13 5:45pm Carmichael:

100% tea drinker here. I never drank coffee, even in the military.
Avatar Thu. 8/29/13 5:46pm Ike:

I drink so much iced green jasmine tea that my blood is probably tilting into a light green shade. Like NGH with his yerba mate, I find that it staves off hunger pangs.
  Thu. 8/29/13 5:46pm Bill:

What about beans?
Avatar Thu. 8/29/13 5:47pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

"WHAT DO YOU KNOW ABOUT THE BEANS!?!?"
--Neil
  Thu. 8/29/13 5:50pm Bill:

I mean, I had to buy some bean-o lately. Age.
Avatar Thu. 8/29/13 5:50pm northguineahills:

Drinking green tea right now.
Avatar Thu. 8/29/13 5:50pm fred:

Sigh... I couldn't even learn the one useful like skill one's supposed to get from a stint in the French army, which is how to open a beer bottle with a lighter.
Avatar Thu. 8/29/13 5:51pm Ike:

What kind, NGH?
Avatar Thu. 8/29/13 5:51pm glenn:

i'm a carpenter. i can open a beer bottle with almost anything.
Avatar Thu. 8/29/13 5:52pm Mike East:

@fred - the key is that the index finger of your left hand (if you're righty) has to be a solid fulcrum to the lighter's lever.
Avatar Thu. 8/29/13 5:53pm northguineahills:

@Ike: Whatever Trader Joe slings
Avatar Thu. 8/29/13 5:54pm fred:

But WFMU came to save my with that handy bottle-opener! I don't have to hide anymore!
  Thu. 8/29/13 5:54pm Bill:

Try it with your teeth.
Avatar Thu. 8/29/13 5:54pm northguineahills:

@Bill: Happy no one is in any of the desks around me.
Avatar Thu. 8/29/13 5:54pm Ike:

NGH, that's not a bad choice. I'm very picky about tea, and their green teabags are reasonably good.
Avatar Thu. 8/29/13 5:54pm glenn:

and if that fucking plumber doesn't show up, i'm gonna open a beer with HIS eye socket.
Avatar Thu. 8/29/13 5:55pm northguineahills:

My WFMU bottle opener broke last year.
Avatar Thu. 8/29/13 5:55pm dale:

i woulda started with ambrosia
Avatar Thu. 8/29/13 5:55pm fred:

@glenn: that might be tough to pull off if he doesn't show up at all
Avatar Thu. 8/29/13 5:55pm northguineahills:

I usually do loose leaf green tea that I get in Chinatown when I'm at home.
Avatar Thu. 8/29/13 5:56pm dale:

renaissance
Avatar Thu. 8/29/13 5:56pm Fredericks:

You guys skipped "C" see?
Avatar Thu. 8/29/13 5:56pm glenn:

true. i didn't think my idle threat through to the end.
Avatar Thu. 8/29/13 5:57pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

White Witch! Nice one, Pigeon.
Avatar Thu. 8/29/13 5:57pm Carmichael:

Yellow Magic Orchestra
Avatar Thu. 8/29/13 5:58pm fred:

I should turn the radio off, but it's not easy and not getting easier
Avatar Thu. 8/29/13 5:59pm Ike:

NGH, Ten Ren? Kam Man's basement?
Avatar Thu. 8/29/13 6:00pm northguineahills:

Both, but usually Kam Man's basement.
Avatar Thu. 8/29/13 6:00pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

Ram Jam?
Avatar Thu. 8/29/13 6:00pm Cecile:

Just play all four side of Kiss Alive.
Avatar Thu. 8/29/13 6:01pm dale:

he should air his dirty laundry
