More pics of Ken's lake house shenanigans?
  Wed. 8/28/13 3:02pm Laura L:

Filthy Blood Pond. It's fun to pretend!
Avatar Wed. 8/28/13 3:03pm Sean D. Daily:

Hi all. Busy today. Won't be able to comment much today, if at all, beyond this.
Avatar Wed. 8/28/13 3:03pm rrg:

I have to look at THAT for the next three hours?
Avatar Wed. 8/28/13 3:04pm common:

i remember vacations at the filthy blood pond...ah, memories.
Avatar Wed. 8/28/13 3:05pm WaveyDavey:

Most gruesome theme park ever!
Avatar Wed. 8/28/13 3:10pm Caryn:

@rrg: well, once the playlist becomes longer, the picture will go beyond the screen.
Wed. 8/28/13 3:10pm Listening Out There:

Sleeping *is* overrated...
Avatar Wed. 8/28/13 3:13pm rrg:

@Caryn: Yes. But that will take a while.
  Wed. 8/28/13 3:13pm boof:

Most gruesome Jungle evah!
Avatar Wed. 8/28/13 3:14pm Droll:

Welcome to the Filthy Blood Pond, I'm gonna watch you bleed. [uh uh uh ooohhh uhhh uhh]
Avatar Wed. 8/28/13 3:15pm rrg:

Plus it will keep flashing into view (even if only briefly) until the playlist is ended.
Avatar Wed. 8/28/13 3:15pm Mike East:

I remember taping Welcome to the Jungle off the radio so I could learn it on guitar. This reminds me of that.
Avatar Wed. 8/28/13 3:15pm common:

@Droll: Hee!
Avatar Wed. 8/28/13 3:20pm rrg:

C'mon, really, who's actually playing vinyl records anymore? As if.
Wed. 8/28/13 3:23pm Listening Out There:

Crackerboots = demon spawn of Gracie Allen and Dan Hicks. Good stuff...
Avatar Wed. 8/28/13 3:23pm Caryn:

This goes nicely with my pie.
Avatar Wed. 8/28/13 3:24pm Mike East:

hey, I want pie. What kinda pie, Caryn? do you have any to share?
Avatar Wed. 8/28/13 3:24pm Droll:

I have a circular file for off-centering perfectly fine records. Bruce Springsteen's vocals sound especially drunken with a lurch every 1.8 seconds.
rrg, I played a record just the other day, but it was the first time in months, and it was only to make a WAV from it. "Black Russian" on Motown apparently never made it to CD.
Avatar Wed. 8/28/13 3:27pm Caryn:

@Mike: queen pie (I feel I need to explain this. "Queen jam" is a mix of blueberry and raspberry. Thus, ice cream cones, pies, tarts, etc. using the combo are here called "queen ..."). Sadly only about 3 mouthfuls left. But it is 3 days past its "best by" date, so use that fact to console yourself.
Avatar Wed. 8/28/13 3:27pm rrg:

Indeed, yes, the only time I ever play a record is to digitize it. Actually I prefer to send them to someone else to digitize.
Avatar Wed. 8/28/13 3:30pm Caryn:

@rrg: well, as long as you don't click on the pic. Because that will lead to images both weirder and more disturbing than this one.
Avatar Wed. 8/28/13 3:32pm Caryn:

I think to me, the most disturbing things about the filthy blood pond pic are the guy's moobs... At least I assume that's supposed to be a dude?
Avatar Wed. 8/28/13 3:32pm Uncle Michael:

That's the best filthy blood pond I've ever seen.
Avatar Wed. 8/28/13 3:34pm glenn:

what's really odd to me is that it's in singapore.
Avatar Wed. 8/28/13 3:34pm Droll:

Caryn, That's the filthy part.
Avatar Wed. 8/28/13 3:34pm rrg:

Did you bake that pie yourself, Caryn?

If not, why not?
Avatar Wed. 8/28/13 3:35pm Caryn:

@rrg: no, because a) my oven sucks and b) I couldn't afford the ingredients. But I got it for free at work, which is sweet.
Avatar Wed. 8/28/13 3:38pm rrg:

Blueberries and raspberries and lard come at a premium price there in the dark and cold north, I guess.
  Wed. 8/28/13 3:38pm Laura L:

This song is reminding me of Happy Flowers somehow.
Avatar Wed. 8/28/13 3:41pm rrg:

623 + 4 = 627, Laura.
Avatar Wed. 8/28/13 3:41pm Caryn:

@rrg: well, right now they're at their cheapest. Been a bad year for blueberries, though. But excellent for raspberries. But with my 20 cent daily food budget, even the cheap berries are not an option.
Avatar Wed. 8/28/13 3:41pm Irwin:

@LL: It does have a Buoyant Floral feel.
  Wed. 8/28/13 3:42pm Laura L:

You know, I mean as in "I said, I want to watch cartoons!" Those Happy Flowers.
Avatar Wed. 8/28/13 3:44pm Irwin:

Yes, I understood your original intent.
Avatar Wed. 8/28/13 3:46pm rrg:

I now have 15 oz. mugs! Bigger than any other mugs that I own.

I'm not sure if that means that I'll drink more tea, or the same amount but less often. I guess I'll find out.
Avatar Wed. 8/28/13 3:48pm glenn:

really? lots of blueberries here.
Wed. 8/28/13 3:48pm Listening Out There:

Time for the End of the World Machine again...
Avatar Wed. 8/28/13 3:48pm Uncle Michael:

More and weaker tea?
Wed. 8/28/13 3:49pm Listening Out There:

Yes. The world ended.
Avatar Wed. 8/28/13 3:50pm Mike East:

Yeah, Jersey Blueberries are in season. got some with me today. A bit sour, but still delicious.
Avatar Wed. 8/28/13 3:50pm Caryn:

Now that my exploration of the picture link has lead to further links to a Finnish sculpture park I know and to a South Korean toilet theme park... I think my quota for weird is almost filled for the day.

@glenn: there's been a lot of sun, which has been good for most berries and other crops, but the associated lack of rain has been disastrous for forest berries over here.
Avatar Wed. 8/28/13 3:51pm rrg:

Weaker tea? No, it wouldn't be enjoyable. I make a very British-style brew, usually a single-estate Assam, strong, with both milk and sugar.
  Wed. 8/28/13 3:52pm Frak:

Is it me, or does that filthy blood pond person look like Ronald Reagan and where he may have ended up?
Avatar Wed. 8/28/13 3:53pm rrg:

Yeah, the NJ blueberries are a little tart right now. If you know what I mean.
Avatar Wed. 8/28/13 3:53pm Caryn:

I think the strong eyebrows and up-tilted grey hair remind me more of Breznev.
Avatar Wed. 8/28/13 3:54pm Uncle Michael:

This is a test of the Emergency Internet Broadcasting System... "It's peena buddah jelly time....it's peena buddah jelly time....LEAVE BRITNEY ALONE!" This was only a test. In the event been an actual Internet Emergency you will be directed where to turn for porn in your area.
  Wed. 8/28/13 3:55pm Frak:

Yes, a Reagan Brezhnev mashup
Wed. 8/28/13 3:57pm Listening Out There:

And now, a tune from our favorite ricin maker...
Avatar Wed. 8/28/13 3:58pm Caryn:

Robbie's sounding weirdly like Patton Oswalt...
Avatar Wed. 8/28/13 3:59pm Droll:

Listening to Robert Alberg while reading the comments it occurs to me we may really have an emergency this time.
Avatar Wed. 8/28/13 4:00pm glenn:

i think i'd rather inhale ricin than listen to this guy.
Avatar Wed. 8/28/13 4:00pm Caryn:

@Frak: so essentially all our Cold War fears of nuclear annihilation are being symbolically drowned in a pool of filthy blood? Sounds ok.
Avatar Wed. 8/28/13 4:00pm ChrisB.:

Somebody throw this guy under the water wheel. He's already all wet.
Avatar Wed. 8/28/13 4:02pm rrg:

Whew, no flash flood warning in MY county. I guess I'm safe for now.
Avatar Wed. 8/28/13 4:05pm Ike:

Normally, NJ blueberries aren't in season this late, are they? Maybe all the rain this year helped them. Not wild blueberries though. I went hiking the other day and they were all long gone.
Avatar Wed. 8/28/13 4:06pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Whew !!
...Kenzo just had an *outstanding* Show on the other Stream (sampling Joe even) & I had to hang for 2nd hour there (he announced he's moving timeslots)

  Wed. 8/28/13 4:09pm Frak:

Avatar Wed. 8/28/13 4:11pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

It's in Singapore - & he looks pretty 'Caucasian'...
Avatar Wed. 8/28/13 4:12pm glenn:

are the sheep drinking woolite?
Avatar Wed. 8/28/13 4:17pm Mike East:

@Ike - I bought 'em at the store, they say they're from Jersey...who knows? my baby's been chompin' them down.
  Wed. 8/28/13 4:17pm Mike:

truly fucking insane shit. How much acid did this guy do?
Avatar Wed. 8/28/13 4:18pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Joe practically Surrealist this time around (whilst still being Socially Heavy & Existential & the rest)...makes me realize that when I 1st heard him I probably mentally categorized him w/ Ken Nordine & things I heard in threshold consciousness on the Radio in my sleep...
Avatar Wed. 8/28/13 4:19pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...Welcome to Cali., Now *GO* Home - which I pretty much have...

I'm sitting in a hospital lounge full of senior-year nursing students from Norfolk State University. I'm gonna have to listen to Joe Frank a little later if I don't want Security called. :-)
Avatar Wed. 8/28/13 4:23pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

- he'd love that G.
Avatar Wed. 8/28/13 4:24pm G:

They'd think I'm the demon spawn of Richard Speck or something...
Avatar Wed. 8/28/13 4:25pm G:

Avatar Wed. 8/28/13 4:26pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Avatar Wed. 8/28/13 4:31pm Droll:

G, Just put your head down, close your eyes, sit motionless, but still let yourself laugh randomly as needed. You'll love the meds they prescribe for you.
Avatar Wed. 8/28/13 4:31pm rrg:

I really like this radio program.
Avatar Wed. 8/28/13 4:33pm rrg:

I have another version of this by DVR, live in 1964. I didn't know it was also on a "real" album.
Avatar Wed. 8/28/13 4:33pm common:

beautiful version of this tune!
Avatar Wed. 8/28/13 4:33pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

- when Garrison Keillor begins 'Lake Woebegon' - I lean in a bit & turn up
...when Joe's done - I go - 'Wheww ! Wow!' & exhale some tension & lean back or wander around the room...

Avatar Wed. 8/28/13 4:36pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...Morrison might have sung 'boys' instead of 'girls' if he could've gottaway w/ it - according to Stephen Davis bio. - were anyone in doubt...
Avatar Wed. 8/28/13 4:36pm Carmichael:

Hiya Irwin and alles Leuten. Listening with one ear, knocking out work with the other. OK, so much for that metaphor.
Avatar Wed. 8/28/13 4:37pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...I can't even *wiggle* my ears...
Avatar Wed. 8/28/13 4:39pm G:

@Droll: I'd take demerol, but I'd have to fake pain for that. Got it for a back spasm in 2005. I think I still had the back spasm after the demerol, but it just didn't matter any more when everything was wonderful.
Avatar Wed. 8/28/13 4:41pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...& we call them - 'Opiates'...
Avatar Wed. 8/28/13 4:42pm spodiodi:

Avatar Wed. 8/28/13 4:56pm rrg:

And posting a comment brings it right back to the top.

Life is REALLY hard.
Avatar Wed. 8/28/13 4:58pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Avatar Wed. 8/28/13 4:59pm rrg:

Our Roamio arrived.
Avatar Wed. 8/28/13 5:01pm Carmichael:

As I've mentioned before, I really love synthetic handclaps/drumbeats. Don't know why. Maybe its the cheese factor.
Avatar Wed. 8/28/13 5:01pm Droll:

Since it was pointed out that is Brezhnev's eyebrows on Reagan's head on Thatcher's body I enjoy it much more. I was thinking about making it my avatar.
Avatar Wed. 8/28/13 5:04pm rrg:

For a second I thought this was Phil Ochs.

My family thoroughly enjoyed "Let's Get Plastered and Raid Circus World" in the car during our latest trip to Martha's Vineyard.

@Roberto: How many in the fam? No one objected? That's domestic tranquility. If you can call extended listening to Amanda "tranquil."
Avatar Wed. 8/28/13 5:51pm glenn:

Avatar Wed. 8/28/13 5:51pm Matt from Springfield:

Sweet, Roberto! Did you also listen to "Profane Thoughts On A Car Trip"?

@Irwin: "Tranquil", or the very least, "a state of balance."
Avatar Wed. 8/28/13 5:52pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Avatar Wed. 8/28/13 5:53pm Matt from Springfield:

@glenn: I've got propane--mind if I toss one on the charcoal?

Heya spodiodier! Is the FCC watching? How bout SPD-er? :)
Avatar Wed. 8/28/13 5:53pm Droll:

Amanda has a timeless, universal appeal. That album is somewhere between Thriller and Sgt. Pepper in terms of audience appeal.
Avatar Wed. 8/28/13 5:53pm northguineahills:

yummmmsz, glenn!
Avatar Wed. 8/28/13 5:53pm glenn:

Avatar Wed. 8/28/13 5:55pm Matt from Springfield:

Avatar Wed. 8/28/13 5:55pm Droll:

Too bad that Filthy Blood Park isn't in Thailand, but perhaps I'll connect flights in S'pore so I can stop by that park. And their Zoo at Night Tour, that's supposed to be good too.

- I have become what Zappa hated. Of course I have...
Avatar Wed. 8/28/13 5:57pm spodiodi:

Matt, aloha! Grilling corn is like riding a bike!
Avatar Wed. 8/28/13 5:57pm glenn:

my advice re: grilling corn

peel the husk back, remove ALL the silk. replace husk. in other words, you're grilling it with the husk in place. some people soak it, i don't.
Avatar Wed. 8/28/13 5:58pm fleep:

@Matt There's always the one in Orlando. And coat the corn with mayonaisse. And thanks, Irwin.
Avatar Wed. 8/28/13 5:59pm spodiodi:

I recommend throwing it from the grocery bag onto the hot coals.
Avatar Wed. 8/28/13 5:59pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...got corn no butter...What Would Zappa Do...
Avatar Wed. 8/28/13 5:59pm northguineahills:

That's how I do it, Glenn, on the grill.
Avatar Wed. 8/28/13 6:00pm Matt from Springfield:

Thanks Irwin, great stuff!
Thanks glenn and fleep! And spodiodi for corn advice!
