I wish the IRS would shut up and take my money. Trying to figure out if they'll do direct w/drawel from my checking acount and how much I owe. I was on hold for an hour, and they hung up on me. Got through again, and they said they can't handle my request, to try again tomorrow. (even though they're supposed to be open until 7). Do I have to take a day off of work to settle this? (at work now).
  Mon. 8/26/13 5:28pm powiva:

i miss your show
  Mon. 8/26/13 5:29pm Andrea:

...sorry to lay that on yer doorstep...jussa fax Sergeant...
Avatar    Mon. 8/26/13 5:44pm fred:

Hopefully they're not as dense as their French counterparts. I once called them because they hadn't taken what I owed from my account. The woman cheerfully said: "you're in luck, it you had called a day later you'd have been hit with a 10% fine". Over here, if they fuck up, you get fined
Avatar    Mon. 8/26/13 5:47pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...suspect this be nature of Tax & Govt. everywhere for we of the French Diaspora & others...
Avatar    Mon. 8/26/13 5:48pm fred:

(That was @ngh. YMMV, but I always expect the worst from the IRS)
Avatar Mon. 8/26/13 5:52pm northguineahills:

I'm supposed to pay today, and I was waiting when no one was in the office to call, but that would be about 6pm, and when I'd get through, they'd said they didn't have enough time to help me (they're supposed to be open until 7). So, I though 4:15 today would give me plenty of time. I have the $$$, I just need to know how to pay it. So, frustrating.

Yeah, thanks Fred. I think I'll use an online wire service and pay 5% more then I think I owe, and if it's more, it'll go to next year (hopefully).
Avatar    Mon. 8/26/13 5:53pm fred:

@RevRab: over here, even if you sue them and win, you have to pay their legal fees, which they usually coincidentally estimate to be at least what they owe you. That's why I let them take what they want. Yet I still have to make sure they do, or it's on me
Avatar Mon. 8/26/13 5:55pm northguineahills:

Dood, thanks Jason. You've kept me relatively sane this afternoon.
Avatar    Mon. 8/26/13 5:56pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

- sheesh - & I like to say I'm a Socialist...
Avatar    Mon. 8/26/13 5:58pm fred:

"relatively sane" is exactly what I needed. More would have been awkward. Jason delivers, as usual. You're still not of the hook: you should get your band to play here in Paris
Avatar    Mon. 8/26/13 5:59pm Ike:

Glurp!
Avatar    Mon. 8/26/13 5:59pm fred:

I meant "off the hook". A typo isn't a way out
Avatar    Mon. 8/26/13 6:00pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

  Mon. 8/26/13 6:00pm Jason Sigal:
