Good morning. Enjoying the usual calming beginning to the week.

Avatar Mon. 8/26/13 9:17am northguineahills:

Man, Deep Magic (new to me) into Kuupuu was sweet!
Avatar    Mon. 8/26/13 9:18am Liz Berg:

Thanks for the nice words Jeroen and NGH. Sounds like everyone is slipping into the late summer groove. Even I'm sort of awake already, ha!
Avatar Mon. 8/26/13 9:19am Chris from DC:

Hey Liz. Missed this Brother JT set somehow, fantastic.
Avatar Mon. 8/26/13 9:20am Scott McDowell:

Whoa epic!
Avatar Mon. 8/26/13 9:21am northguineahills:

Wolf Eyes was amazing Saturday, a little bit of metal has fallen in their cauldron.
Avatar    Mon. 8/26/13 9:22am Liz Berg:

Ooh, how was the rest of that Wolf Eyes show on Sat, NGH? Had too many obligations to make it out there.
  Mon. 8/26/13 9:24am pierre:

Cheri !
Avatar Mon. 8/26/13 9:25am Jeezy:

Jeezy!
Avatar Mon. 8/26/13 9:26am northguineahills:

Sadly, I only got there in time for Wolf Eyes. They had an amazing subwoofer that spewed bass pulses that contorted everyone's viscera.
Avatar    Mon. 8/26/13 9:30am DCE:

diving into this pool of Subaqueous Aerobics--wonderful!
Avatar Mon. 8/26/13 9:35am Jeroen Kuster:

what a super fat beginning.
  yes !!!!!!!!
Avatar    Mon. 8/26/13 9:40am fred:

Yeah PE! That record isn't that bad actually. It kinda sucks as an album because Chuck D repeats himself too much, but it features really great moments.
  Mon. 8/26/13 9:42am kosta:

Le hip hop
Avatar    Mon. 8/26/13 9:44am fred:

Liz, I just listened to your premium yesterday. Great stuff there! I think my fave was Debo Band, but the whole CD is a keeper for sure
  Mon. 8/26/13 9:44am pierre:

I remember that Jason Sigal played a lot of "Alaclair Ensemble"… I like it
Avatar    Mon. 8/26/13 9:47am Liz Berg:

Avatar    Mon. 8/26/13 9:56am common:

i'm with you, liz. HATE mondays. some good things about it, though.
Avatar Mon. 8/26/13 9:56am braveness23:

B23 here! Stayed home sick so play something soothing and nurturing. Or play whatever you were already going to play. It's all good!
Avatar Mon. 8/26/13 9:56am ! I X Key !:

hooray Liz Berg my hero
Avatar    Mon. 8/26/13 10:00am fred:

The only thing worse than Mondays are Monday mornings. Liz, you should get a medal of freeform or someting
Avatar Mon. 8/26/13 10:08am braveness23:

Oh, this is gothy!
Avatar    Mon. 8/26/13 10:09am Liz Berg:

Ha ha, was just thinking I was getting a bit unintentionally gothy!
Avatar Mon. 8/26/13 10:10am Chris from DC:

That Cold Showers was killer, though.
Avatar Mon. 8/26/13 10:10am Cheri Pi:

what he said
Avatar Mon. 8/26/13 10:11am ᏠЄႶႶỊѺµЄ:

Westcoast!! Was at Rockaway yesterday pretending I was on the westcoast, so this song fits.
Avatar Mon. 8/26/13 10:12am Rev. Turnip Druid:

aw man, gotta hit the archives later for amEdeo & dig that Opale set. They'll be down here this friday, should be a kick.
Avatar Mon. 8/26/13 10:13am Cheri Pi:

Feel better B23. Gothy set came just in time for you, I think you got too much sunlight yesterday.
Avatar Mon. 8/26/13 10:14am Jeezy:

I was actually at Afropunk Fest yesterday. I saw Death play. Wowzers.
  Mon. 8/26/13 10:16am pierre:

Merci Fred ! I'll try and be there, a good way to face the "rentrée"
  Mon. 8/26/13 10:16am KP:

Hey, Liz.
Avatar Mon. 8/26/13 10:17am Cheri Pi:

Go JEEZY! how was it?
Avatar Mon. 8/26/13 10:19am Jeezy:

It was pretty awesome, Cheri! The magic of Detroit remains intact with these dudes...
Avatar Mon. 8/26/13 10:19am Jeezy:

That lil' mini Absolut I dumped in my Sprite didn't hurt.
Avatar    Mon. 8/26/13 10:24am Liz Berg:

Pierre or Fred, is "rentrée" the word you guys use for when everyone returns to Paris at the end of August?
Avatar Mon. 8/26/13 10:26am pocket vito:

Oui c'est la rentrée!
Avatar    Mon. 8/26/13 10:26am fred:

@Liz: Yep. Actually it's the French equivalent to back-to-school, but we seem to have trouble growing up
Avatar Mon. 8/26/13 10:28am braveness23:

Ms 23 and I frequently use "rentrée" to refer to the hazy period after awaking from a nap.
Avatar Mon. 8/26/13 10:28am Benjamen Walker:

I forgive you! this song is awesome
Avatar Mon. 8/26/13 10:29am ᏠЄႶႶỊѺµЄ:

@Jeezy - went to Afropunk on Saturday and saw the Heavies. BOY the stylee people there were too much! Such great people watching, wish I had my camera, but that would make me seem like a creeper.
Avatar Mon. 8/26/13 10:29am βrian:

I think the best time to travel in France is after the rentrée. Things settle down, and it's not a zoo in the south.
Avatar    Mon. 8/26/13 10:32am Liz Berg:

New favorite word: rentrée! Perfect use, B23!
Avatar    Mon. 8/26/13 10:33am fred:

βrian nailed it: If you want to visit Southern France, do avoid July and August. Locals will be friendlier, and you will save an arm or a leg.
Avatar    Mon. 8/26/13 10:38am fred:

@RTD: do go and see them, and introduce yourself. Pierre would be thrilled
  Mon. 8/26/13 10:40am pierre:

@ RTD : Say hi to them for me ! (that live set was very nice)

@ Liz : I conccur with all that has been said. Ususally it's called "rentrée des classes", often shortened as "rentrée"
Avatar Mon. 8/26/13 10:40am braveness23:

Honestly I didn't know it was a french word. We pronounce it "re-entry" as in descending from a high orbit. It works, though, doesn't it?

My mom was a french teacher when I was a child, though, so there are all kinds of french words and pronunciations in my vocabulary that must have come from that.
Avatar Mon. 8/26/13 10:43am Jeezy:

@ᏠЄႶႶỊѺµЄ Ooooh nice! Yeah it's a great area. I use the pool right there all the time. The people watching was indeed a treat. I was doin' mad creepin, as the kids say!
Avatar Mon. 8/26/13 10:44am ! I X Key !:

! Lovin you the most
Avatar    Mon. 8/26/13 10:45am fred:

@B23: it works, actually it improves it
@RTD: don't miss the opening band, BCBG is great too
Avatar Mon. 8/26/13 10:47am Cheri Pi:

This is Liarsy, I like it.
  Mon. 8/26/13 10:48am pierre:

@ B23 : I like your definition better
Avatar Mon. 8/26/13 10:48am Rev. Turnip Druid:

Will do, Fred/Pierre. I'll be opening for the opening, so with luck they won't all run out of there & become violently ill.
Avatar Mon. 8/26/13 10:51am Cheri Pi:

revive them, with vivarin and smelling salts RTD, if they do flee. Revivree.
  Mon. 8/26/13 10:51am pierre:

@RTD : if only i could be there… i'd attach them
Avatar    Mon. 8/26/13 10:52am Liz Berg:

Ha ha, perfect, Cheri Pi!
Avatar Mon. 8/26/13 10:52am Jeezy:

I think one morning Liz should show up and just put on one of those NOW! 2013 Pop hit compilations. It would be interesting to see the reactions.
Avatar Mon. 8/26/13 10:53am Rev. Turnip Druid:

FOXX!
Avatar Mon. 8/26/13 10:54am Cheri Pi:

Revivree: returning to a show after you've fled.
Avatar    Mon. 8/26/13 10:59am fred:

@RTD: try to set aside some time to chat with them. They're people worth knowing, they could be precious if you come back to Paris someday, and they're just worth knowing. Especially Mariette, don't miss that chance, both of you could grow from such an encounter.
Avatar Mon. 8/26/13 10:59am Chris from DC:

Yeah, Nagamatzu. Dark Entries is on a roll right now.
Avatar Mon. 8/26/13 11:01am βrian:

Ran into an old sweetie. C'étais la retombée.
  Mon. 8/26/13 11:03am pierre:

@RTD : …And i'm pretty sure they'll enjoy your sounds too. Specially Samuel (from BCBG)
Avatar    Mon. 8/26/13 11:04am fred:

Zola Jesus = Siouxsie in white. Totally must see
Avatar Mon. 8/26/13 11:05am fred von helsing:

Siouxsie in white, to a first approximation, yes
  Mon. 8/26/13 11:05am KP:

This is good
Avatar Mon. 8/26/13 11:05am Mike East:

good morning, all you tastemakers
Avatar    Mon. 8/26/13 11:06am fred:

@pierre: totally agree, but a RTD/Mariette collab could blow minds. Mine at least
Avatar    Mon. 8/26/13 11:07am Jeff:

...and here's the traditional time when I insert myself in a playlist conversation to plug some photos.

Because I've got some of Opale and BCBG when they were at the station, starting right here:

www.flickr.com...

...and continuing to the right.
Avatar Mon. 8/26/13 11:08am Mike East:

hey KP - do I remember seeing you post that you had both of those French Girl singers of the 1960's comps? If so, do you prefer one over the other?
Avatar Mon. 8/26/13 11:08am Rev. Turnip Druid:

PUPPY.
  Mon. 8/26/13 11:09am pierre:

@Fred : I agree :) i'd go for anything Mariette's collaborating with. And I'd go for RTD's sounds anytime of the day… so yes, you're right
  Mon. 8/26/13 11:10am pierre:

@ Jeff : you're photos are great ! (just a beautiful reminder of how much I would have loved to accompany my friends there)
Avatar    Mon. 8/26/13 11:11am fred:

@FVH: that was my first thought on seeing her (meaning Zola Jesus) I may be totally misguided, it wouldn't be the first time. Anyway Zola Jesus is totally must-see. She's going to be too expensive for me in the future, I'm glad I could see her when I could afford it
Avatar    Mon. 8/26/13 11:11am Jeff:

Thanks, @pierre! Everybody was friendly and didn't seem too annoyed I was in there, which always helps.
Avatar Mon. 8/26/13 11:12am βrian:

I always thought the name was Bouncé ...
Avatar Mon. 8/26/13 11:15am Rev. Turnip Druid:

wow thanks fred/pierre - Outstanding shots Jeff...
Avatar Mon. 8/26/13 11:20am Carmichael:

Good morning Liz and people of popularity. Has anyone commented yet on Miley Cyrus' performance last night? No? GOOD!
Avatar Mon. 8/26/13 11:23am Rev. Turnip Druid:

Miley who?
Avatar Mon. 8/26/13 11:23am Mike East:

@Carmichael - my wife mentioned to me that the FB world was all lit up last night about the VMA's....makes me glad I don't have cable, otherwise she might have turned it on to see what the fuss was about.
Avatar Mon. 8/26/13 11:25am βrian:

@RTD: You know: Cyrus. The Persian king.
Avatar    Mon. 8/26/13 11:31am fred:

@Jeff: does that mean there's a BCBG set in the station's future? That would be awesome
Avatar Mon. 8/26/13 11:32am Rev. Turnip Druid:

Googled for a list of historical Persian kings. By far I prefer the name Zabshali [c. 2050 - c. 2000 BC]. I will name all my dozens of non-existant children Zabshali.
Avatar Mon. 8/26/13 11:33am Carmichael:

Ya, I have kids, so I have cable. Just walked by and saw an appalling routine. But, I guess, they ALL are, right? And I couldn't go outside because the State is on fire.
  Mon. 8/26/13 11:34am pierre:

@ Fred : in "the Modern World with Trouble"
Avatar Mon. 8/26/13 11:34am βrian:

But I *have* been to Kalamazoo.
Avatar    Mon. 8/26/13 11:36am fred:

@RTD: name your children whatever you want. First you have to play nearby. I don't care what happens later. You have friends around here, and are running out of excuses
Avatar Mon. 8/26/13 11:39am Rev. Turnip Druid:

HAH! Fred.. Persistent unemployment is the best excuse there is. (been working temporary contract projects for a year to maintain the curried gluten supply, but can't budget too much fun stuff...
Avatar Mon. 8/26/13 11:39am Rev. Turnip Druid:

BELUGA! This is freaking wonderful.
Avatar    Mon. 8/26/13 11:39am fred:

@pierre: you'd better tell me about it beforehand then. I usually avoid trouble's show, too French for me. It's when I catch up with Billy Jam
Avatar Mon. 8/26/13 11:40am ᏠЄႶႶỊѺµЄ:

Avatar Mon. 8/26/13 11:40am Sean D. Daily:

Avatar    Mon. 8/26/13 11:40am Ike:

Cool show. Playing it loud in the office -- nobody else here. Not looking forward to NYC's rentrée, which means the boss comes back.
  Mon. 8/26/13 11:42am pierre:

I don't know when, I'll tune in for the next show if I were you, just to check… but i'll ask DJ Trouble to be sure
Avatar    Mon. 8/26/13 11:46am fred:

@RTD: I'm not happy about it, but that's a good excuse. All the better because I can support you without second thoughts. I'd still like to get seriously plastered with you some day. Doesn't seem likely if we wait until we're both rich/solvent. Let's work on plan B.
  Mon. 8/26/13 11:47am Laszlo:

Liz, you are making my Mondays worthy of looking forward to... Listening from Berlin, online.
Avatar    Mon. 8/26/13 11:49am fred:
