Charlie Brown is a vinyl retentive.
Avatar Mon. 7/29/13 12:01pm Doug Schulkind:

Does coleslaw come with those fried clams?
Avatar Mon. 7/29/13 12:02pm Shaun:

All Vince Guaraldi all the time.
Avatar Mon. 7/29/13 12:06pm Jeff Golick:

Mmmm....clams.
Avatar Mon. 7/29/13 12:06pm Jeff Golick:

Greetings, duke! And we all know how it turns out for CB.
Avatar    Mon. 7/29/13 12:07pm duke:

Schroeder has no taste peanutsroasted.blogspot.com...
Avatar Mon. 7/29/13 12:07pm Jeff Golick:

Shaun! Wait...Shaun??
Avatar Mon. 7/29/13 12:08pm Jeff Golick:

O say it ain't so, Schroeder.
Avatar Mon. 7/29/13 12:11pm Shaun:

I've no faith in that record collection. There might be some Loussier in that cabinet but that's it.
Avatar Mon. 7/29/13 12:11pm Jeezy:

Doug! Years ago you played a song by a Horace or Holgart or something... It was definitely an old black dude. There were some horns in it. Does this ring a bell? I'm dying to remember what it was.
Avatar Mon. 7/29/13 12:12pm Jeezy:

Haha...
Avatar Mon. 7/29/13 12:14pm Jeff Golick:

@Shaun: maybe some Wanda Landowska? My first thought was: Mantovani.
Avatar Mon. 7/29/13 12:15pm Doug Schulkind:

Old black dude named Horace or Hogart with horns. That narrows it down a bit. I'll take a wild guess and say "The Giant Is Awakened" by Horace Tapscott.
Avatar Mon. 7/29/13 12:17pm Jeff Golick:

OOOOH. That's a good one. Another Horace is Horace Silver, of course.
Avatar Mon. 7/29/13 12:18pm Jeezy:

There were vocals! Another clue...
Avatar Mon. 7/29/13 12:18pm Jeezy:

Although I think you may be correct about the artist. If I could only remember a smidgen of the lyric...
Avatar Mon. 7/29/13 12:23pm northguineahills:

Melt Yourself Down, new to me, and I'm furiously clawing my way through the Earth's crust.
Avatar Mon. 7/29/13 12:24pm Doug Schulkind:

The Horace Tapscott was an instrumental track.
Avatar    Mon. 7/29/13 12:24pm duke:

@Jeezy If it's Horace Tapscott you can search the archives for that and see what Doug played.
Avatar Mon. 7/29/13 12:25pm Jeezy:

@duke I'm not so sure about that. This was around 10 years ago!
Avatar    Mon. 7/29/13 12:25pm Brian in UK:

Hello Jeffes. Donna is hitting the notes on the other side. Should I not say that?
Avatar Mon. 7/29/13 12:25pm Jeff Golick:

@northguineahills: great to see you, welcome! And yeah, I might've hurt myself a little bit flailing along to MYD.
Avatar    Mon. 7/29/13 12:26pm hyde:

who scheduled Destination Out and Gateway to Joy at the same time? I'm thinking of listening to both simultaneously since I can't choose.
Avatar    Mon. 7/29/13 12:27pm Brian in UK:

jinx hyde
Avatar Mon. 7/29/13 12:28pm Jeff Golick:

@Brian in UK: the archive heals all wounds. Nice to see you here, of course!
Avatar Mon. 7/29/13 12:29pm Jeezy:

Hmmm, Doug... well maybe it wasn't Horace Tapscott if he's ONLY instrumental. Amazingly, though, it had a lot of that wild, grooving, jazz sound. But yeah, definitely vocals and even a trad chorus. The lyric is so close to my brain but evades me. i think that will be the key. Oh well, thanks for the help, all!
Avatar Mon. 7/29/13 12:29pm Jeff Golick:

@hyde: Let us know how that goes...also: HOWDY.
Avatar    Mon. 7/29/13 12:46pm Gary:

Hola, Jeff & Others!
Avatar    Mon. 7/29/13 12:47pm Brian in UK:

Avatar    Mon. 7/29/13 12:51pm duke:

I'm dancing to Blues City
Avatar Mon. 7/29/13 12:51pm BLACK SAINT:

thanks for the compliment, but have to say Impulse, Blue Note and other originators are the real pioneering hereos!
Avatar Mon. 7/29/13 12:54pm Doug Schulkind:

Gardens of Harlem is one of my all-time favorites.
Avatar Mon. 7/29/13 12:55pm northguineahills:

Feelin' noodly.
Avatar    Mon. 7/29/13 1:04pm Brian in UK:

Do you think Peanuts has the complete Flying Dutchman catalogue? Yeah I know it does not quite time-synch.
Avatar Mon. 7/29/13 1:06pm Jeff Golick:

@Brian: it's probably a white-label Detroit techno 12" he's pulling out.
Avatar Mon. 7/29/13 1:06pm Jeff Golick:

Charlie Brown twerk gif, please.
Avatar Mon. 7/29/13 1:12pm Shaun:

He can't hear you, Jeff, he's just a drawing.

@Stanley: Hiya hiya!
Avatar Mon. 7/29/13 1:24pm Jeff Golick:

@UM: Well, *now* we're a cohort.
Avatar Mon. 7/29/13 1:24pm Jeff Golick:

@hyde: AGREED. I don't really have the superlatives to describe that record.
Avatar    Mon. 7/29/13 1:29pm Uncle Michael:

What would be the most amusing municipality to complete the phrase, "Art Ensemble of ________."
Avatar Mon. 7/29/13 1:32pm Jeff Golick:

Scranton?
Avatar Mon. 7/29/13 1:33pm Shaun:

@UM Haha. I had previously thought it'd be great if there was an Art Ensemble of Billericay.
Avatar Mon. 7/29/13 1:33pm Jeff Golick:

Disneyland?
Avatar Mon. 7/29/13 1:34pm Jeff Golick:

UFCW Local 464?
Avatar Mon. 7/29/13 1:38pm Jeff Golick:

Avatar Mon. 7/29/13 1:39pm Doug Schulkind:

Uncle Michael, the band could provide the theme song for the Utah Jazz!
Avatar    Mon. 7/29/13 1:43pm hyde:

Avatar    Mon. 7/29/13 2:41pm Uncle Michael:

Well, that was a conversation killer.
Avatar Mon. 7/29/13 2:42pm Jeff Golick:

FEELING OVERPOWERED BY YOUR LOVE.
Avatar Mon. 7/29/13 2:44pm Shaun:

Charlie Brown's saying this is alright but it's no Vince Guaraldi.
Avatar Mon. 7/29/13 2:49pm Doug Schulkind:

Sorry. Jeff's music left me speechless (typeless).
Avatar Mon. 7/29/13 2:57pm Jeff Golick:
