happy birthday coe!
  12:27pm
george doom:

Is it true that the term ROADBURN indirectly comes from the song “Johnny’s Last Race” by the great NJ band Drag Pack.
  12:27pm
Alexis:

Hi Diana !!
  12:28pm
Walter Roadburn:

@ george doom, yes it is!
Avatar 12:30pm
Cecile:

Walter, have you ever thought of having some mini-Roadburn festivals in the US? That would be awesome.
Avatar 12:31pm
Cecile:

I have some questions!

What band will you always have at Roadburn, come hell or high water?
And, what band will you never ask back again?
Avatar 12:32pm
Cecile:

Also, which Big 4 thrash band do you want to hit with a cinder block?
  12:32pm
Walter Roadburn:

Church of Misery have kinda become Roadburn's in-house band over the past couple of years.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:33pm
Coe:

Thank you DK and Cecile
Cecile you stole my question about the US LOL. And we don't beat Big 4 with cinderblocks we beat them with Lars LOL!
Avatar 12:34pm
northguineahills:

Did you see that Burzum got arrested again, this time in France the other day?
  12:34pm
Walter Roadburn:

actually, i love alot of those 80s thrash bansds, as i grew up with the likes of slayer, metallica (ride the lighning being my favorite).
Avatar 12:34pm
Cecile:

nice! hahahahaha, coe I stand corrected.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:34pm
coe:

Really who could ask for a better show on their bday. Walter I think it is fair to say the folks here hold you in high regard.
Avatar 12:35pm
Cecile:

I love them too, Walter, but sometimes they just get on my nerves and my running joke is which one do you want to beat up at any one time....
  12:35pm
Walter Roadburn:

dinner just got severved. i'm back up asap
Avatar 12:35pm
Cecile:

It's usually Metallica or Megadeth for me.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:37pm
coe:

Honestly I am sorry to say that except for a few songs and his writing credits for Kill 'Em All I find nothing redeemable about Megadeth or Dave Mustaine and his current actions have not helped me gain any more respect for him.
Avatar 12:38pm
Cecile:

Coe, Rust in Peace? Rust in Peace?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:41pm
coe:

yeah but mostly stuff from Peace Sells I suppose and more so out of a life experience/time period thing than actual enjoyment and seeing them live a few times over the last couple of years was just not a very pleasant experience
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:42pm
coe:

Being from NJ we were always very very loyal to Anthrax. I think they rank as my top of the big 4

Metallica? Slayer? they always bring it.

oh, belated voivod!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:53pm
tim from champaign:

Cecile, are you still going to the Die Kreuzen, NA, Melvins, Mudhoney show?
Avatar 12:53pm
Cecile:

So far, yes. I gotta find out how hot it will be - I may be just going to see Die Kreuzen and then splitting if it's too warm.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:54pm
tim from champaign:

Cool.
Avatar 12:57pm
Chris from DC:

Wow that's quite a lineup.
  12:58pm
hal:

Did not expect Syclops on the Kamikaze Fun Machine. Nice pick Diane.
Avatar 1:00pm
Cecile:

And...I just called. Die Kreuzen is headlining, and the bands have to be done by 10. it's 2-10 p.m. for those keeping score. Also, there's some smaller bands like Gay Witch Abortion playing. The guy said "all I know is that the Melvins are opening, and Die Kreuzen are closing".
Avatar 1:10pm
Cecile:

It sounds like it makes all the hard work real when it starts.
  1:16pm
Pietro:

Walter is the greatest! Roadburn is the most incredible festival ever.
Avatar 1:18pm
Cecile:

oh! that sounds cool.
Avatar 1:19pm

Avatar 1:20pm
Cheri Pi:

I covet Gay Witch Abortion.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:20pm
coe:

@Cecile I have not seen Metallica since Damaged Justice but I can say that was a killer show. I saw Slayer for the first times a few years ago and I was thought it was great it was the last couple of tours Jeff did and Dave was back in the band so I'm happy I got to see them when I did.
Avatar 1:21pm
Cheri Pi:

happy birthday COE!!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:22pm

How do you decide who your curators will be?
Avatar 1:22pm
Cheri Pi:

I wore my church of Misery T-shirt to a 3 yr old girl's birthday party this weekend :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:23pm
coe:

Thank You Cheri!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:25pm
coe:

I think Walter follows the greatest rule when putting something like this which is put together something that you and your friends want to hang out at not what is "going sell tickets"
Avatar 1:25pm
Cheri Pi:

I would be willing to sit on a live-comment board panel at Roadburn with the Listener-feedback crew from back home. let's make this happen. Coe- get at Bruce Dickinson for the chartered jet.
  1:27pm
JJ Koczan:

If Walter could have one band reform who hasn't yet to play Roadburn, who would it be?
Avatar 1:28pm
Cecile:

who is the curator for the upcoming festival?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:30pm
coe:

LOOP!!!!! NO WAY!!!!!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:33pm
coe:

I know you have a lot on your plate already Walter but have you ever considered adding a film venue to the festival too?
Avatar 1:33pm
Cheri Pi:

Voivod!
Avatar 1:38pm
Cecile:

this is awesome.
Avatar 1:39pm
Rev. Turnip Druid:

Cecile speaks truth.
  1:40pm
Walter Roadburn:

@ coe, it's really hard to add a film venue, as there's no indepent cinema in the vicinity of the festival.
Avatar 1:41pm
Cecile:

You should just hang a big bedsheet and project films on that! :D
Avatar 1:42pm
Cheri Pi:

Dosn't billy jam have a friend that does that guerilla style film-festival in Ireland?
Avatar 1:43pm
Cheri Pi:

FUCK YES.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:45pm
coe:

I think you are right Cheri
I'm with Cecile :)
Maybe some great horror and grindhouse flicks after hours to entertain people. LOL
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:47pm

Love the Monolith Cult track. new to me.
Avatar 1:48pm
Rev. Turnip Druid:

Riffers of god...!
Avatar 1:48pm
Cheri Pi:

this sounds delicious to my crispened ears.
Avatar 1:48pm
Cheri Pi:

What they all said.
  1:48pm
Walter Roadburn:

Bradford’s Monolith Cult are the very latest in a distinguished line of miserably metallic Yorkshire-dwelling doomsters. Featuring members of those heaviest of Northerners Lazarus Blackstar.
Avatar 1:49pm
Diane Kamikaze:

Hey Walter! Can you see the Skype CHAT box? I'd like to go back on mic after this Witches of God track
Avatar 1:50pm
Cheri Pi:

Thank you Walter, this is a blazing set already.
Avatar 1:52pm
Cecile:

Witches of God is a genius name for a band. On that note, Doctors of Disease would be another great one.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:55pm
tim from champaign:

I really dig gay with abortion too, CP. I like the the drummer looks like a pixie.
Avatar 1:57pm

I don't think any of us find it unhealthy I think most of us are very envious.
Avatar 1:59pm
Cecile:

Who have been some of the bands that you absolutely had to stop what you were doing and make sure you caught them.
Avatar 2:00pm
Cheri Pi:

Pretty things!
Avatar 2:00pm
Cecile:

Pretty Things are amazing. They blew me away when I saw them ten years ago.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:01pm
coe:

I also saw the Pretty Things a few years ago and they were really really good.
Avatar 2:12pm
Cecile:

like a SF Worldcon but with metal. and 100% fewer Hugo awards.
Avatar 2:16pm
Cheri Pi:

It's the dream of a lot of bands I know to get picked to play at Roadburn, it's like Diane's Peer-pressure segment; it's up to the programmer and whether you have impacted them. the lack of formula makes Roadburn so excellent.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:18pm
coe:

Walter is such the work horse he is here talking to us. Posting to the board, posting to facebook all at the same time LOL!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:20pm
