Hey Irene, hello one and all, we are at long last having a bit of a summer over here,
Avatar    Mon. 7/8/13 12:11pm Van in DC:

Good Monday to you Irene, Sean, folks...
Avatar Mon. 7/8/13 12:11pm v k:

happy to be with you today, Irene
Avatar    Mon. 7/8/13 12:12pm Sem Chumbo:

Hiya, Irene. Lovely evocative start to an afternoon inside out of the (once again) rain.
Mon. 7/8/13 12:13pm Sean in Bristol, UK:

Hi Van, what's the weather like with you, typical of us Brits but there are some gripes about how hot it is here.
Avatar    Mon. 7/8/13 12:15pm Van in DC:

Fairly hot in DC, with some humidity. Just walked the mall and am dripping sweat. Yeah, the men looked pretty hot at Wimbledon yesterday...congrats to Murray by the way.
Avatar    Mon. 7/8/13 12:19pm KP:

Cool.
Mon. 7/8/13 12:19pm Sean in Bristol, UK:

Lovely track from Mr Glass, he takes arpeggios to another level.
Avatar    Mon. 7/8/13 12:19pm Irene Trudel:

Hi Everybody! Nice to be here in a cool studio. @Sean, I can answer that too. NYC is wretchedly hot (90'sF) & humid. My poor kitties are suffering the most, but have found cooler spots in front of the fan/AC-- which is only slightly better than the outdoors in my stifling, top floor apartment. How are the rest of you staying cool today?
Avatar    Mon. 7/8/13 12:21pm Van in DC:

My near-the-top apartment also is only slightly cooler than outside. Happy to be in the cold AC at work today.
Avatar    Mon. 7/8/13 12:22pm KP:

Not that bad if you are not expending energy. Sitting in car to do alt side parking with FMU on was a breeze.
Mon. 7/8/13 12:22pm Sean in Bristol, UK:

Irene, I have wimped out of coming over late August because of the hideous humidity that all you good Eastern Seaboard folks have to endure each year,
Mon. 7/8/13 12:24pm Sean in Bristol, UK:

AC, that's something that is about as common as rocking horse droppings over here, hot, go stand next to chill compartment at your local supermarket!
Mon. 7/8/13 12:25pm Sean in Bristol, UK:

Becca, lovely.
Avatar    Mon. 7/8/13 12:25pm KP:

Going to London in August. Can't wait. Wimbledon got me psyched.
Mon. 7/8/13 12:28pm Sean in Bristol, UK:

@KP, try some real ale during your visit
Avatar    Mon. 7/8/13 12:32pm KP:

I no longer partake but have been there a few times when i sampled many ales and more and more.
Avatar    Mon. 7/8/13 12:40pm Irene Trudel:

@ Sean, sorry we won't see you then but I completely understand. Summertime NYC is a little hard to take if you're not used to it.
Avatar Mon. 7/8/13 12:45pm v k:

in defense of summer in the NorthEastern U.S. - when its bad, its bad - but it is only bad ~20% of summer - pleasant, cool summer nights are the norm - we breakout sweatshirts in the evenings beginning in mid-august
Mon. 7/8/13 12:50pm Sean in Bristol, UK:

Irene, Becca Stevens is playing at The Rockwood Music Hall on the 30th of this month, do you think she might be up for a set at WFMU around that time?
Avatar    Mon. 7/8/13 12:52pm KP:

It is not bad today and yesterday was OK despite 94 F temps. It's the humidity as they say. It gets bad at night. i just moved to city and I'm enjoying it. At night the humidity builds so you find bar, theater or apt. hopefully all three.
Avatar    Mon. 7/8/13 1:01pm Van in DC:

Wow on that 30 string guitar

Avatar    Mon. 7/8/13 1:03pm Irene Trudel:

I'm with you, @KP. A lot of decent, and some mindless, movies are good heat beaters. @Sean, I know about that gig and hope to go. I'll certainly try for a set for this show.
Avatar    Mon. 7/8/13 1:18pm Dave E:

Hi Irene, did you take the playlist picture? Where is the location?
Avatar    Mon. 7/8/13 1:19pm Van in DC:

So we knew of Meg...then the Baird Sisters...so Laura records solo as well? Lovely, this.
Avatar    Mon. 7/8/13 1:22pm Van in DC:

Ha ha...I was looking at that "Across the Tappan Zee" and thought I heard it before...uh...last week...okay, I'm all awake now ;)
Avatar    Mon. 7/8/13 1:31pm Jeff:

A little Bromberg is always walcome.

(Wait, Bromberg doesn't rhyme with talcum, does it?)
Avatar    Mon. 7/8/13 1:32pm Dave E:

Walcome?
Avatar    Mon. 7/8/13 1:32pm Dave E:

I'd say it's wulcome.
Avatar    Mon. 7/8/13 1:37pm Jeff:

A little echo of Ogden Nash's "Reflection on Babies":

A bit of talcum
Is always walcum.
Avatar    Mon. 7/8/13 1:39pm Dave E:

Gotcha, now I get it . . . a little slow today.
Avatar    Mon. 7/8/13 1:47pm Dave E:

Thanks, Irene. Somehow it looks familiar to me.
Avatar    Mon. 7/8/13 1:53pm Irene Trudel:

@Van, Laura handed me a CD of solo material as she left last week. I'm going to ask her back on to play. @Dave E, I did take that picture when I was in the Catskills this past weekend. It's off Route 28 between Boiceville and Olive. It's in a place called Sundown Forest.
Avatar    Mon. 7/8/13 1:53pm Mike East:

dang, I missed it...where'd she say the pic was from? It does look a bit like some places in my neck of the woods.
Avatar    Mon. 7/8/13 1:53pm KevinfromBayRidge:

Hello Irene & Trudelians, The falls looks as lovely as your music sounds. Hopefully it's a little less trafficked than nearby Kaaterskill Falls.
Avatar    Mon. 7/8/13 1:56pm Mike East:

ah, got it. Thanks Irene. And thanks for this Os Mutantes! Haven't heard this one. cool vocal effect
Avatar    Mon. 7/8/13 2:05pm Dave E:

  Mon. 7/8/13 2:24pm don:

thanks for Tom Rapp/PBS-he had made a brief return to public performing about 10-12 years ago, but nothing since as far as I know. He had been practicing law in Phil., but think he is now in FL.
Mon. 7/8/13 2:27pm Sean in Bristol, UK:

Loving this Joe Zawinul track
Avatar    Mon. 7/8/13 2:41pm Sem Chumbo:

Mon. 7/8/13 2:55pm Sean in Bristol, UK:

This is the first time I have listened to Carla Bruni, wow
