Just opened another Hurricane Kitty.
Avatar    Thu. 5/9/13 4:04am Julie:

I tried to find that for the band this weekend, and I couldn't
Avatar    Thu. 5/9/13 4:07am listener mark:

Brewed in Kingston, NY by Tommy Keegan. Don't know if they distribute to NJ.
Avatar    Thu. 5/9/13 4:07am Julie:

I've got it before for bands, had to with the word Hurricane in it
Avatar Thu. 5/9/13 4:08am flashback:

i take it hurricane kitty is a beer.
Avatar    Thu. 5/9/13 4:10am listener mark:

Super Kitty is a barley wine. It is a seasonal, knock your socks off. 12% alcohol.
Avatar Thu. 5/9/13 4:11am flashback:

i gave up drinking in 1989.about anything will knock my socks off.
Avatar    Thu. 5/9/13 4:11am listener mark:

Yes, Hurricaine Kitty is an India Pale Ale.
Avatar Thu. 5/9/13 4:13am flashback:

in my drinking days i had 3 long island iceteas and 5 beers in one sitting in a hotel bar and walked out on my own power.now one beer would finish me i am sure.

All things in moderation. Sometimes it works out for the best, if nothing at all.
Avatar Thu. 5/9/13 4:16am flashback:

those days are behind me.no regrets but those days are gone.they were fun in fact.
Avatar    Thu. 5/9/13 4:18am listener mark:

The use of a substance to alter stages of conciousness aren't needed. I've gone on weekend retreats, the meditation sessions were unbelieveable.
Avatar Thu. 5/9/13 4:20am flashback:

i don`t meditate but am happier without the substances.
Avatar Thu. 5/9/13 4:23am flashback:

i am retired so the lack of work stress helps me enjoy life more.
Avatar    Thu. 5/9/13 4:23am Julie:

I can't sit still long enough to meditate, music can be transcendental though
Avatar    Thu. 5/9/13 4:24am Julie:

Well, I can sit still, rather I can't stop thinking
Avatar    Thu. 5/9/13 4:24am listener mark:

To sit quietly, and listen. Really listen. You can hear your own heartbeat, the birds, people talking outside in the street, a dog barking, always a dog barking. lol
Avatar Thu. 5/9/13 4:24am flashback:

its hard to settle the mind sometimes.
Avatar    Thu. 5/9/13 4:25am Julie:

It's either thinking of all the things I SHOULD be doing, or just falling asleep
Avatar Thu. 5/9/13 4:27am flashback:

it occured to me that i was 18 or 19 when the jefferson airplane recorded the song you played by them.
Avatar Thu. 5/9/13 4:29am flashback:

so you meditate on your eyelids, julie?
Avatar    Thu. 5/9/13 4:31am listener mark:

Is there anything I can do in the next fifteen minutes that will change anything I'm worried about? No. So I'll sit here and listen to Dark Night of the Soul with Julie.
Avatar    Thu. 5/9/13 4:31am Julie:

It's either hyper brain or sleeping, mostly hyper brain which is why I'm an insomniac
Avatar Thu. 5/9/13 4:31am flashback:

i hate insomonia.
Avatar    Thu. 5/9/13 4:32am Julie:

Avatar Thu. 5/9/13 4:33am flashback:

Avatar    Thu. 5/9/13 4:34am Julie:

Avatar Thu. 5/9/13 4:34am flashback:

this music is relaxing though.
Avatar    Thu. 5/9/13 4:35am Julie:

It's relaxing AND it has a beat, I like that about it, it can be either way
Avatar    Thu. 5/9/13 4:35am listener mark:

Avatar    Thu. 5/9/13 4:55am Julie:

Ian, how bad could it be?
Avatar    Thu. 5/9/13 4:57am Matt from Springfield:

Caught the tail end of this set! Liking The Laurels, some of their songs reminded me of Bauhaus, some kind of grunge revival. And they're Aussie! Another Antipodean connection :)

Morning Julie! Who engineered this set?
Avatar    Thu. 5/9/13 4:57am Julie:

Stu Rutherford. Bauhaus? really? hmmm
Avatar    Thu. 5/9/13 5:01am Matt from Springfield:

Ah! Stu, and Ernie! Two of our great guys!
"Changing The Timeline" was

Sounds like a stereotypical "food truck" item you read about: mac n cheese and watercress on pork sandwich! :) What the fack is a SLYDUH?! Oh these guys are killin' me with the food chat! :D
Avatar    Thu. 5/9/13 5:03am Matt from Springfield:

Clay long ago said there should be a Serge Gainsburger, and pierre said he would attempt one--I guess the answer is topping it with a 15 yo French girl and cigarettes! With a side of Fleetwood Mac 'n Cheese :D
Avatar    Thu. 5/9/13 5:06am Julie:

Ernie did the two bands for Evan that were on tonight, but he helped us set up before Stu got there, he's mister useful :)
Avatar    Thu. 5/9/13 5:08am Matt from Springfield:

Mr. Useful indeed!
Oops, didn't finish my line: "Changing The Timeline" was the one that verged into Bauhaus rhythms.
Avatar    Thu. 5/9/13 5:09am Matt from Springfield:

"Now playing: This set has ended" What a goth name, band idea! :)
  Thu. 5/9/13 5:10am Meghan.:

Bummer I caught the last non live song....... Sounded good! Where are they from?
Avatar    Thu. 5/9/13 5:12am Julie:

Sydney
Avatar    Thu. 5/9/13 5:12am Matt from Springfield:

Avatar    Thu. 5/9/13 5:14am Julie:

I'm really excited about her coming in! she's really different
Avatar    Thu. 5/9/13 5:20am Matt from Springfield:

Dreeeeeeeeeamy!
Avatar    Thu. 5/9/13 5:21am Julie:

I'm excited they have a new album out, they haven't been around in a while
Avatar    Thu. 5/9/13 5:22am Julie:

oh gosh no I was wrong, guess I just didn't get the last few.
Avatar    Thu. 5/9/13 5:25am Matt from Springfield:

Was looking at a FMU search, most of the ones you (and others too) have played are their early 90s stuff--but in any case I'm also glad a band like that is still releasing albums!
Avatar    Thu. 5/9/13 5:25am Julie:

yeah those are the ones I have, Sam Rosenthal sent this one last week
Avatar    Thu. 5/9/13 5:29am Julie:

Not surprised Andy Waltzer played them, I loved his show. Miss it.
Avatar    Thu. 5/9/13 5:30am Matt from Springfield:

A haze of 'gaze this morning! :)
Avatar    Thu. 5/9/13 5:36am Matt from Springfield:

BBC session!
Avatar    Thu. 5/9/13 5:36am Julie:

this goes nicely with the earlier conversation
Avatar    Thu. 5/9/13 5:37am Julie:

It's really different from the record version
Avatar    Thu. 5/9/13 5:39am Dave B:

Morning Julie. Morning people.

A wise friend (who hates flying) once told me it is best to "take off" before the plane does. And THAT is the best way to travel.
Avatar    Thu. 5/9/13 5:41am Matt from Springfield:

Morning Dave B! Words of wisdom, indeed :)
Avatar    Thu. 5/9/13 5:45am Dave B:

Wake and Bake!
Avatar    Thu. 5/9/13 5:45am Julie:

I don't know that I could cook first thing in the morning
Avatar    Thu. 5/9/13 5:46am Julie:

although this is a pretty good stoner show at the moment
Avatar    Thu. 5/9/13 5:48am Matt from Springfield:

It *is* a good stoner show! Stanworthy ;)
Particularly with this Gift From A Flower track.
Avatar    Thu. 5/9/13 5:52am Julie:

Can't have a hippie dippie show without Don
Avatar    Thu. 5/9/13 5:53am Julie:

Gonna try and squeeeeeze in one more song, thanks for listening you guys. Matt go back and listen to the Laurels :)
Avatar    Thu. 5/9/13 5:55am Dave B:

I'm diggin this
Avatar    Thu. 5/9/13 5:55am Julie:

everyone sing!
Avatar    Thu. 5/9/13 5:56am Julie:

this would also be good bed music
Avatar Thu. 5/9/13 5:56am Meghan:

Yeah that last one was great..... totally had me tranced out
Avatar    Thu. 5/9/13 5:56am Matt from Springfield:

You won't fool the Children of the Revoluuution!
Avatar    Thu. 5/9/13 5:57am Matt from Springfield:

Avatar    Tue. 5/14/13 8:32am Van in DC:

Okay, almost completely caught up with the show now. Another great one, thanks Julie! I don't think I had heard that Moody Blues tune before!
