O'er better waves to speed her rapid course
The light bark of my genius lifts the sail,
Well pleas'd to leave so cruel sea behind;
And of that second region will I sing,
In which the human spirit from sinful blot
Is purg'd, and for ascent to Heaven prepares.
Avatar Sat. 3/30/13 12:29am fleep:

Chevrolet’s hilarious attempt at promoting safety for young drivers by singing about the laws of motion and centrifugal force, among many other automobile-related things. If you ever wondered what it would sound like if Belle & Sebastian were around in the 60s making music about driving, well then today is your lucky day.
Avatar Sat. 3/30/13 12:30am david_:

Belle & Sebastian meets America meets driving instruction.
Avatar Sat. 3/30/13 12:43am G:

Why did I X K quote the opening of someone's translation of the Purgatorio?

...I must be going. To sleep. But I'll still be Listening. I've decided it's too much work dreaming for myself, so I'm having my subconscious replaced by FMU.
Eventually, you too will have to sleep & dream.
- Best of luck w that.

^^^ This is what the voices in Frangry's head were saying on the plane before a certain infamous incident.

I found a new rabbit photo for RRN63. I need to be able to upload more than 7 images.

Oooh goodie! Before fancy digital synthesizers and filters and subwoofers there was Jah Wobble.
Avatar Sat. 3/30/13 1:49am I X Key!:

I wish you could delete them as well as WFMU doubling its server space by getting a second 5 14" diskette for it
Avatar Sat. 3/30/13 1:50am I X Key!:

@G What was that incident???
Avatar Sat. 3/30/13 1:52am I X Key!:

)o: I miss Andy, but he still has his blog thatandycohen on tumblr--
Avatar Sat. 3/30/13 1:58am G:

I step away for a prebed smoke and all hell breaks loose.

Frangry told a story on herrself around 2010-11, about stealing gum from the purse of a woman sitting next to her on an airplane while the woman was using the loo. Dunno if it was true or madeup, but it was a good story, and it gets thrown in her face a fair amount.
Avatar Sat. 3/30/13 1:58am I X Key!:

i mean the dotcom that's thatandycohen, which has tufblr installed
Avatar Sat. 3/30/13 1:59am G:

I X Key is a tumbler :p
Avatar Sat. 3/30/13 2:01am Droll:

I remember when you could use a hole punch to double your storage space on a 5.25" floppy. Large scissors doubled it a third, fourth, and fifth time. The sharper the scissors, the more storage you had.

Oh look, Fabio's muffler is here to re-inflate the squirrel!
Avatar Sat. 3/30/13 2:01am G:

Hey, you got the first thunderword in Finnegans Wake on your profile page now. Could you have got it off Bryce's board today? :p
Avatar Sat. 3/30/13 2:02am G:

That was @IXK
Avatar Sat. 3/30/13 2:03am I X Key!:

thunderword?
Avatar Sat. 3/30/13 2:03am I X Key!:

me?
Avatar Sat. 3/30/13 2:04am I X Key!:

I've always been such a fan of James Joyce & celebrate Bloomsday every year!
Avatar Sat. 3/30/13 2:06am G:

Don't let me stop you. Right, Droll? So many inside joke possibilities any more on this board.
Avatar Sat. 3/30/13 2:06am I X Key!:

I put that thunderword on my profilme first thing after the WFMU Friendship Society started! At first my profile was that thunderword only
Avatar Sat. 3/30/13 2:07am G:

Ok, great minds, NP
Avatar Sat. 3/30/13 2:13am Droll:

I'm trying to figure out what kind of band would use the name Thunderword. Christian heavy metal? Some rapper?
Avatar Sat. 3/30/13 2:15am G:

all of the above?
Avatar Sat. 3/30/13 2:18am Droll:

You *MUST* enter the thunderword into this high-quality text-to-speech converter: www.acapela-group.com...
Be sure to choose voice "Will Lilttle Creature" before hitting "Say It".
Avatar Sat. 3/30/13 2:22am G:

Which setting? the Queen Elizabeth voice? :p
Avatar Sat. 3/30/13 2:28am Droll:

G, Isn't she special? It was tough to resist using that stuff in my T&C songs. I have bigger plans for this cast, though.
Avatar Sat. 3/30/13 2:28am I X Key!:

@D how about an Irish free jazz band with like 40 drummers
Avatar Sat. 3/30/13 2:28am I X Key!:

in it, among the other instruments!
Avatar Sat. 3/30/13 2:32am G:

For those not in this loop, "T&C" means the Tullis and Clark SelectQuote ad remixes Droll did for Irwin's show a couple of years ago under the name "A Great Many." There's an endless number of loops *everyone* is out of.
Avatar Sat. 3/30/13 2:36am I X Key!:

Maybe a thunderword in music could look like a Ligeti score in traditional or non-traditional notation
Avatar Sat. 3/30/13 2:37am Droll:

IXK, I like the idea of a free jazz ensemble with one drummer per musician (make your own joke), so everyone gets to play to their own drummer.
Avatar Sat. 3/30/13 2:37am G:

is it a trad or nontrad score that uses ligetures?
Avatar Sat. 3/30/13 2:41am I X Key!:

@D/AGM that Will Little Creature voice sound is just the sound James Joyce was writing!!!
Avatar Sat. 3/30/13 2:51am I X Key!:

Yeah ligatures are more traditional! & the nontrad score by Gyorgy Ligeti that was linked to earlier today in the chat was crazy & unheard-of notation!
Avatar    Sat. 3/30/13 2:55am Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

@I X Key!, @Droll: By utter coincidence, a friend wrote this to me tonight:
"I was running out of hard disk space on my home computer so I hole-punched it to allow me to write to the other side. Now it's no longer readable. Any advice?"
Avatar Sat. 3/30/13 2:57am Droll:

IXK, I couldn't read either score. I'll bet authors wish they could be illiterate!

Kenzo, That was no coincidence. You'll see.
Avatar    Sat. 3/30/13 2:59am Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

So, who here uses Internet Explorer? I need your testing help right now.
kenzodb.com...
Avatar Sat. 3/30/13 3:01am I X Key!:

&K looks good to me, but i'm using Chrome
Avatar Sat. 3/30/13 3:08am I X Key!:

That's ridiculous, making the audience put together the ridiculous part of the joke!
