Favoriting Brian Turner: Playlist from March 26, 2013 Favoriting

Order and disorder in a freeform haze of terribly-played guitars, shorted-out electronics, found audio detritus, strange sounds from strange lands all around. Psych-punk-junk, collage, even pop. Lots of in-studio live performances to boot.

Maurbese: even the French are finally fat now.

Songwriters: BRAGG, BILLY / DE GEYTER, PETRUS / POTTIER, EUGENEStand up, all victims of oppression
For the tyrants fear your might
Don't cling so hard to your possessions
For you have nothing, if you have no rights
Let racist ignorance be ended
For respect makes the empires fall
Freedom is merely privilege extended
Unless enjoyed by one and all

Chorus:
So come brothers and sisters
For the struggle carries on
The internationale
Unites the world in song
So comrades come rally
For this is the time and place
The international ideal
Unites the human race

Let no one build walls to divide us
Walls of hatred nor walls of stone
Come greet the dawn and stand beside us
We'll live together or we'll die alone
In our world poisoned by exploitation
Those who have taken, now they must give
And end the vanity of nations
We've but one earth on which to live

And so begins the final drama
In the streets and in the fields
We stand unbowed before their armour
We defy their guns and shields
When we fight, provoked by their aggression
Let us be inspired by like and love
For though they offer us concessions
Change will not come from above

I have the original Penderecki/Cherry, unless I'm missing something from the Dj Shadow oeuvre, I don't think he sampled it, unless it's the horn phrasing. (i may be mistaken)

Wendy del Formaggio:

NGH, you're right. That was my first guess: DJ Shadow, because he samples such great stuff. Then I remembered -- OH, The Internet! -- and I looked it up. It's the Trüby Trio's "Donaueschingen". Of course!

Wow on the Temple of Sun Ra Matin, that is pretty damn cool and tasty treats from Vulture Shit and Standard of Living. Repetitor was like Ex from a gulag, and Ake Hoddell remains a genius. And that Humus tastes good even to carnivores, I've got Jazzman envy if you guys get shipped their fine stuff.

Okay, I'll turn the light out now. Nice work Mr. Sandman...
