Avatar Mon. 3/18/13 3:06pm Planet Tyler (DCish):

WUFMOO Scott. Congrats on the marathoning :)
Avatar Mon. 3/18/13 3:07pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

Peace be with you.
That, and perhaps an aspirin.
Avatar Mon. 3/18/13 3:09pm Cheri Pi:

Oh never mind, I just left the wrong comment for Jim Price.
Avatar Mon. 3/18/13 3:09pm Scott Williams:

My friends! Thanks for being here, wherever here is right now
Avatar Mon. 3/18/13 3:10pm tim from champaign:

Hey Scott, congratulations on the goal! Also, the Sinfonia band sounded tight as hell. Great job!
Avatar Mon. 3/18/13 3:11pm βrian:

These are my favorite lyrics.
Avatar Mon. 3/18/13 3:12pm Ken From Hyde Park:

How much of the pledge total will be used to fly you guys to Disney World? You won the Super Bowl of freeform fundraising last night.
Avatar Mon. 3/18/13 3:13pm Looms:

What Tim said. The Sinfonia sounded from good to great yesterday.
Avatar Mon. 3/18/13 3:14pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

Mueran Humanos is inspiring comments like when I was hearing Big Blood for the first time... these cats can do no wrong.
Avatar Mon. 3/18/13 3:15pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

Elves of the Head twirling around in tiny sock-feet, making skull itch nice-nice.
Avatar Mon. 3/18/13 3:15pm Scott Williams:

right on, Rev! What is it about couples bands?
  Mon. 3/18/13 3:16pm Philip:

I love this etherial, heartbeating, jungley music. Reminds me of the stuff I used to record in a friend's basement in the mid-'80s. Very soothing and comforting.
  Mon. 3/18/13 3:16pm common:

i like those birdy sounds!
Avatar Mon. 3/18/13 3:18pm pierre:

here, présent, (still covered with shame of no pledges still…)
but hey, great, fantastique work everyone…

I've been emailing J McG, I should still be able to pledge, when bank account will smile again, I should do it to that show.

Bonsoir Scott and friends !
Avatar Mon. 3/18/13 3:18pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

Behold! The Tentacular One!

  Mon. 3/18/13 3:21pm Philip:

Great ending!
Avatar Mon. 3/18/13 3:21pm Cheri Pi:

I could use a week at this camp. I wonder what kind of craft activities they have for the kids?
Avatar Mon. 3/18/13 3:22pm pierre:

Avatar Mon. 3/18/13 3:25pm pierre:

Avatar Mon. 3/18/13 3:27pm Scott Williams:

ohhh, haha - that was public? oh yeah, cameras are a thing
Avatar Mon. 3/18/13 3:29pm pierre:

well, it was just tuned in before the show starts, and it's pretty understandable. I can't do five without collapsing on the ground, and melting like a panacotta under the sun…
  Mon. 3/18/13 3:32pm amEdeo:

I am sending this hello from my nap cave. Electro-love to everyone. Scott, you were a gosh darn rock master last night.
  Mon. 3/18/13 3:33pm Ralphine:

That beeping electronic stuff before Krausened reminded me of an album that my older sister bought me for Christmas when I was nine years old--Morton Subotnick's "Silver Apples of the Moon." It was a little, uh, advanced for my taste. I had told her that I liked synthesizer music from hearing Switched on Bach, and Subotnick was the only synthesizer album she could find.
Avatar Mon. 3/18/13 3:34pm I X Key!:

amEdeo was one of the best shows of the marathon!!
Avatar Mon. 3/18/13 3:39pm Bas NL:

Wow; just switch on: this Krausened is beautiful
Avatar Mon. 3/18/13 3:40pm Cheri Pi:

Krausened for the win!
Avatar Mon. 3/18/13 3:40pm Scott Williams:

amEdeo! You, sir.... just... wow... Hey Bas!
Avatar Mon. 3/18/13 3:43pm Danne D:

Congrats on another great marathon, Scott. Hey everyone.
Avatar Mon. 3/18/13 3:44pm Bas NL:

Hi Scott! Great slow recovery start! You were awesome yesterday! ;)
Avatar Mon. 3/18/13 3:45pm quinn:

nice show so far
Avatar Mon. 3/18/13 3:45pm Cheri Pi:

OMD! Oui!
Avatar Mon. 3/18/13 3:48pm Cheri Pi:

The very first time in my life that I knew music could cause a revolution was when I heard Gary Numan "Cars" in 4th grade. I knew I wanted to be involved with "that" for the rest of my life. Thank you FMU for letting me not let my younger self down.
Avatar Mon. 3/18/13 3:50pm Bas NL:

Best Thereminist in the world.. Clara Rockmore
Avatar Mon. 3/18/13 3:51pm Scott Williams:

that 45 did it for me too, CP! bought when I was like 9 or 10. Strange that I missed out on OMD until about... oh, last year?
Avatar Mon. 3/18/13 3:51pm Scott Williams:

hey Quinn!
Avatar Mon. 3/18/13 3:54pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

Today's beer pairing with Scott W's show is proving to be an ideal choice. ... beeradvocate.com...
Avatar Mon. 3/18/13 3:54pm the glowing one:

is that a new album?
Avatar Mon. 3/18/13 3:55pm Cheri Pi:

Scott I think we are the same age!!! I remember a table of kids at school talking about it as if a man had just landed on the moon.
Avatar Mon. 3/18/13 3:56pm Cheri Pi:

Fantastic choice RTD- I will drink beer in 65 minutes.
Avatar Mon. 3/18/13 3:56pm Scott Williams:

ooooh, Rich Hazelton hipped me to that one, Rev. Good stuff! Shit'll knock you flat
Avatar Mon. 3/18/13 3:57pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

That Cars single was 1979, so I would've been in 6th grade. Jeezus, old-timer stuff. .. and Scott/CP, it's become a fast favorite. Yummy.
Avatar Mon. 3/18/13 3:58pm thedunkel:

Congrats on the marathon!
Avatar Mon. 3/18/13 3:58pm northguineahills:

Rev, I'm going to have to hit the Indian mega beer store (the one under Indian restaurant on 3rd ave) this week and get me some of those suds.
Avatar Mon. 3/18/13 3:59pm Cheri Pi:

I bought that single in the drugstore- like nature intended.
Avatar Mon. 3/18/13 4:00pm tim from champaign:

Excellent choice, RTD. Nice for afternoon drinking. Deschutes and Kona have recently shown up in my neck of the woods. Also, my bar (where I hang) has revamped it's tap selection. Left Hand Nitro Stout, Victory Prima Pils.... I'm on the wagon until mid May. I have lots o' beer to look forward too.
Avatar Mon. 3/18/13 4:01pm Cheri Pi:

Beer!
Avatar Mon. 3/18/13 4:03pm quinn:

yeah erkin koray
Avatar Mon. 3/18/13 4:03pm quinn:

today is a good day for songs i like on WFMU BEST RADIO STATION EVER
Avatar Mon. 3/18/13 4:04pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

Early beering for the Rev., due to unexpected early-out from contract gig today, plus decent interview for another gig, hence: raise a glass in honor of that + WFMU goal...
Avatar Mon. 3/18/13 4:04pm dcpat:

cheers Rev...
Avatar Mon. 3/18/13 4:05pm Cheri Pi:

That's great news Reverend. Enjoy your pint of victory.
Avatar Mon. 3/18/13 4:05pm DCE:

I'm gonna try to remain dry today...Sunday was just an awful recovery day.
Avatar Mon. 3/18/13 4:05pm Bas NL:

Do check out the excellent BBC series 'Synth Brittania'; Great interviews with the major British synth pop bands, including OMD. It's on youtube.
Avatar Mon. 3/18/13 4:06pm Cheri Pi:

I deserve to drink- I lived through St.PD weekend in a college town.
Avatar Mon. 3/18/13 4:10pm pierre:

If I could favorite comments this would be one !
BIEN JOUÉ Rev. Turnip Druid !!!

and now I shall get myself a beer at the grocery store down my street, to join you in beverages réjouissances !
Avatar Mon. 3/18/13 4:11pm tim from champaign:

Show those little leaguers how it's done, Cheri!
Avatar Mon. 3/18/13 4:14pm Scott Williams:

bottoms up, CP!
  Mon. 3/18/13 4:16pm Ralphine:

That Funkadelic reminds me of Sing a Simple Song.
Avatar Mon. 3/18/13 4:17pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

Salut, Cheri. RE: the joy of college-towns. I lived for a time in Syracuse of all places, and yeh... I recall a certain amateur ugliness on the streets on fake-irish night.
Avatar Mon. 3/18/13 4:18pm glenn:

erkin koray probably doesn't even get played on turkish radio stations.
Avatar Mon. 3/18/13 4:19pm Dave B:

Sorry I missed the party last night.
Avatar Mon. 3/18/13 4:19pm Carmichael:

Hiya Scott, and congratulations on making the goal! And you all are the most wonderful people that ever were, and cmon over so I can hug you big lugs!
Avatar Mon. 3/18/13 4:20pm Stanley:

Hey, if we're all toasting Marathon Victory and all the wonderful FMU peeps, I'm cracking open that bottle of IPA that's in the kitchen. Hell, its been there since Saturday.
Avatar Mon. 3/18/13 4:22pm Stanley:

Cheers Scott and everyone. Here's to another year of WFMU greatness.
Avatar Mon. 3/18/13 4:22pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

"Get Old and Die with Flaming Fire" - a perfect LP name for any artist.
Avatar Mon. 3/18/13 4:24pm tim from champaign:

Am I sensing a tractor remix?
Avatar Mon. 3/18/13 4:24pm Scott Williams:

Hey, thanks to all of you who pledged to the Marathon, esp you kind pals who coughed it up for my show, and particularly the folks who pledged after the show was history, and so didn't get the special on-air love: Jeff M, Bas, Mitch in Ridgefield NJ, Katy in Seattle, Tara in Butler, Steve in Seattle, Stacey in East Point GA, Dave B in NYC, James in Kingston Canada, and Yvonne in Bkln
Avatar Mon. 3/18/13 4:26pm listener james from westwood:

i'll have what donna's having.
many congrats, scott and wfmu!!
Avatar Mon. 3/18/13 4:27pm Cheri Pi:

Get Old and Die with Flaming Fire sounds like a prayer to me Rev.
Avatar Mon. 3/18/13 4:33pm Dave B:

Bent a rim on the Grand Central Parkway in a valiant attempt to make it over to WFMU. When that happened, I just limped the car home and drank/watched the Ustream feed...
Avatar Mon. 3/18/13 4:33pm Cheri Pi:

Hey-the mermaids are grooving: wfmu.org
Avatar Mon. 3/18/13 4:35pm fleep:

Love you long time
Avatar Mon. 3/18/13 4:35pm Szkolny:

Hearing the extended version of this song is the only thing that's making me feel better right now about the fact that it's snowing. AGAIN. Thank you Scott.
Avatar Mon. 3/18/13 4:37pm Szkolny:

(Hey where's my heart?? Sob.)
Avatar Mon. 3/18/13 4:37pm Szkolny:

Ah there it is. As you were!
Avatar Mon. 3/18/13 4:37pm Mr. Lowry:

When is this song going to end!?
Avatar Mon. 3/18/13 4:37pm Danne D:

Sorry to hear that Dave - the roads here are such garbage. I bubbled a tire last week coming back from the station myself. All roads may lead to WFMU but The Man seems to always want to keep them in disrepair.
  Mon. 3/18/13 4:39pm Brett:

I love this song
Avatar Mon. 3/18/13 4:39pm Cheri Pi:

When Scott says he loves us "long time" he means it.
Mon. 3/18/13 4:40pm green mountain man mark:

Hey Dave B. missed you at the event. how do you bend a rim on a car? At first I thought you were talking about a bike. Like a bike rim getting taco'd
Avatar Mon. 3/18/13 4:43pm Pete from Boston (and NJ):

The better question is, how do so many people make it down the Grand Central without bending rims? Potholes at high speed (ok, just answered my own question) dent many a rim.
Avatar Mon. 3/18/13 4:44pm Dave B:

In a Smart car those potholes are like craters...
Mon. 3/18/13 4:45pm green mountain man mark:

Remember that 80s arcade game moon patrol? Is it like that?
Avatar Mon. 3/18/13 4:46pm Dave B:

Pretty much... :-(

www.youtube.com...
Avatar Mon. 3/18/13 4:47pm Danne D:

yeah gmmm except we don't get those cool lasers to shoot out of our cars :(
Avatar Mon. 3/18/13 4:51pm northguineahills:

My gf got a hard drive's worth of music from one of her coworkers, and I've been tackling the Conrad Schnitzler section since early February, and I'm still only half way through it. Tons of releases that were cassette-only originally, or very small vinyl pressings.
Avatar Mon. 3/18/13 4:56pm Paul Ryan:

There is absolutely no correlation between low taxes and all those potholes. None at all.
Mon. 3/18/13 5:01pm the inner egg uncle:

just curious if anyone knows how many people on average listen to wfmu online?????? strange to think of all the interconnected radio ears on earth......
Avatar Mon. 3/18/13 5:05pm Carmichael:

SM Ken and staff keep a sharp eye on the on-line listener info. On UStream you can actually see the number of hook-ups. So to speak.
  Mon. 3/18/13 5:05pm Ralphine:

I listen online, so there's one.
Avatar Mon. 3/18/13 5:06pm Pete from Boston (and NJ):

Ken alludes to the percentages sometimes. There was a 7SD devoted once to just surveying people on where and how they were listening, though it only captured the motivated and just for one show.
Avatar Mon. 3/18/13 5:07pm Pete from Boston (and NJ):

I meant to respond to something you said yesterday, Ralphine, and now I forgot what.

Useful comment, I know.
Avatar Mon. 3/18/13 5:08pm Dave B:

that was weird... I had two streams streaming for that Dobie track.... so count me twice

sounded pretty cool though!
  Mon. 3/18/13 5:08pm Ralphine:

It'll come to you eventually.
Avatar Mon. 3/18/13 5:09pm Andy in Berlin:

I seem to remember Ken being able to see how many people were listening on line at any one time. Unless that was just a ploy to fake out Andy.
Avatar Mon. 3/18/13 5:15pm Mike East:

I had 3 streams, plus 91.1 going last weekend...in different rooms, and out of sync. It was a great weekend.
Mon. 3/18/13 5:16pm green mountain man mark:

Does anyone know if an update of the WFMU smartphone app is in the works? Lots of changes since the last update. Especially the friendship society. What else?
Avatar Mon. 3/18/13 5:16pm esha:

scott! you are my guitar hero. it was nice to meet you last week, and i dug the benoit pioulard on my drive home
Avatar Mon. 3/18/13 5:16pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

Had to split to attend to some hungry gear inna studio, back now, and it sounds like we're still in marathon day-after drone country. Me likey. I'll have to roll around in the archives like a beast in rut, clearly.
Avatar Mon. 3/18/13 5:21pm Scott Williams:

thanks a lot Esha! Was great to meet you too, and thanks so much for all your help during the Marathon!
Avatar Mon. 3/18/13 5:23pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

Sorry I missed the C.Schnitzler. The title inspires much curiosity. Again, to the archives with the rutting...
Avatar Mon. 3/18/13 5:31pm hamburger:

there was that thing ken said about wfmu listeners, introverted people with world domination issues. something like that. any 7sd'ers? :))
Avatar Mon. 3/18/13 5:31pm Pete from Boston (and NJ):

I went to the prom, goddammit!
Avatar Mon. 3/18/13 5:33pm the glowing one:

I think my ♥ is beginning to melt
Avatar Mon. 3/18/13 5:33pm pierre:

Ken !!!

I went to the JUNIOR prom
Avatar Mon. 3/18/13 5:34pm esha:

this COVER is beautiful, wish i'd been there to see it :')
Avatar Mon. 3/18/13 5:34pm Scott Williams:

holy shit! mega props to Irene, Scott K, Ernie, Glenn L, and Dave M for the engineering magic, I had no idea it sounded so good!!!
Avatar Mon. 3/18/13 5:35pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Can you speed it up, like how a 33 sounds played at 45? Just to hear that once.
Mon. 3/18/13 5:35pm green mountain man mark:

I turned on my spot light app because I didn't understand what he meant by lighter app in my stooper. And I blinded Irwin or somebody before I realized what I was doing.
Avatar Mon. 3/18/13 5:35pm vanya moscow:

majestic!
Avatar Mon. 3/18/13 5:36pm Skirkie:

I didn't have enough battery power to download a lighter app let alone use it.
Avatar Mon. 3/18/13 5:36pm Dave B:

@esha - scrub to about 1:45:00 (after Scott's show of course...)

www.ustream.tv...
Avatar Mon. 3/18/13 5:43pm glenn:

out of curiosity, when do you start pulling together the performers and songs? how many rehearsals does it take? i thought everything sounded fairly tight. total props to chris t. for powderfinger, by the way.
Avatar Mon. 3/18/13 5:43pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

Merle! Cousin to Missus Druid, evidently...
Avatar Mon. 3/18/13 5:45pm Scott Williams:

Glenn, it takes about a month. 6 rehearsals
Avatar Mon. 3/18/13 5:47pm hamburger:

dang wish I could hit those notes
Avatar Mon. 3/18/13 5:47pm G:

is that why they have to change studios so long before the marathon starts? to make room for rehearsals?
Avatar Mon. 3/18/13 5:47pm efd:

I'll just chime in that those six rehearsals are with the band -- Scott spends A LOT of additional time working on the songs. And generally the singers only run through their songs with the band once or twice (or sometimes not at all -- Dan Bodah's Cramps song this year, for example).
Avatar Mon. 3/18/13 5:48pm Whosondephone:

I think the Conrad track was (Album - Track) Grün - Bis Die Blaue Blume Blüht sounded a little different though.
Avatar Mon. 3/18/13 5:49pm efd:

@G, the main reason for the studio change is to make sure any technical or other kinks with Studio B are worked out well in advance of the marathon, and so DJs will have a couple of shows in that studio before the marathon begins so we won't spend our marathon shows talking about how we're in Studio B. ;)
Avatar Mon. 3/18/13 5:51pm Scott Williams:

Hey EFD! playlist comment poke. and I'll chime in to say that I'm not the only one -- Evan himself puts in much sweat, concentration, and spirit for this thing.

G, the reason we switch studios for the Marathon is that Studio B is much more conducive to fundraising. It's got a 2nd room for volunteers, phones & MCs. we start early to work out the bugs
Avatar Mon. 3/18/13 5:53pm efd:

I am so happy to be deleting "Hunger Strike" and "Call Me Maybe" from my iPhonePod today.
Avatar Mon. 3/18/13 5:53pm G:

got it now, was just trying to piece stuff together out of curiosity...
Avatar Mon. 3/18/13 5:54pm pierre:

@efd & Scott : you two are great musicians guys !
Avatar Mon. 3/18/13 5:56pm Carmichael:

btw, AmEdeo's Dead Kennedys tribute was awesome, great energy and delivery!

I'll let you know about that mirrorball motor tonight...
Avatar Mon. 3/18/13 6:05pm Bas NL:

Thanks Scott! Great sounds again!
Avatar Mon. 3/18/13 10:49pm Stanley The Meat Guy:

I really liked Ken's song. It made me weep.
Avatar Wed. 3/20/13 9:14am magoo:

congrats on a successful marathon. i have to say you've got me hooked on O.M.D. now. i had overlooked them as well. the original, self-titled release is also quite excellent.
