Avatar Mon. 3/11/13 3:12pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

With my guidance AND FAITH, SW, you shall turn water into a fine English brown ale. Or a doppelbock perhaps. Because screw wine, that's why. .... oh yes, and swim in a sea of pledges.
Avatar    Mon. 3/11/13 3:15pm Cheri O:

The sea of pledges is right off the Isthmus, you can't miss it. Igor will show you to the ledge.
Avatar    Mon. 3/11/13 3:15pm Faye:

Hello my friends! Let's show Scott some love shall we?!!
Avatar Mon. 3/11/13 3:18pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

ISTHMUS BE SO!
Avatar    Mon. 3/11/13 3:18pm Cheri O:

But beware our many tentacled family "pet" he has a taste for non-pledgers.
Avatar    Mon. 3/11/13 3:20pm Ike:

I was about to comment that the DJs should threaten to summon a giant squid-sphinx-baby to eat the listeners who don't pledge, but you beat me to it.
Avatar    Mon. 3/11/13 3:23pm Mike East:

Ima git me that Spiritualized. Just you watch...
Avatar    Mon. 3/11/13 3:23pm Cheri O:

Ike-we share the same brain, welcome to my madness. It's getting kind of crowded in here.

Avatar    Mon. 3/11/13 3:26pm XPat of Leche de Noche:

I'm runnin out of dough. If I pledge any more Mrs. XPat of Leche de Noche will make me sleep out back with the rats...
Avatar Mon. 3/11/13 3:26pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

I suggest keeping them in a refrigerated bowl of water, DCE. Otherwise they tend to get a bit parchment-like 'round the edges. Cthulhu's Household Tips, pg.666.
Avatar    Mon. 3/11/13 3:27pm XPat of Leche de Noche:

Yes DCE, all booked. Now all we need is tunes, group members, instruments, and pens...
Avatar    Mon. 3/11/13 3:27pm DCE:

so I'm not the only listener with a human ear collection, apparently
Avatar    Mon. 3/11/13 3:27pm DCE:

why not set up a WFMU sms/text account where people can pledge like 2 euro's/dollars through a an automatic text..a bit like earthquake relief ?
Avatar    Mon. 3/11/13 3:32pm Danne D:

Kelly Jones is good people :)
Avatar    Mon. 3/11/13 3:35pm Danne D:

@nick - shoot your suggestion to Ken. Perhaps there's a reason why it's not workable. Perhaps it's something they haven't pondered before. Ken is always open to suggestions, especially if they might help FMU obtain more $.
Avatar Mon. 3/11/13 3:36pm hamburger:

wouldn't WFMU need to cut a deal with a phone company? not sure,
Avatar    Mon. 3/11/13 3:38pm rsj:

hamburger, nice peewee reference, classic.
great banter
Avatar Mon. 3/11/13 3:40pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

DUDE, SCOTT, I'm still getting over that Null & Void track from one of last week's prizes. GOD, my tentacled brain thing. Hell jeez cthulhu.
Avatar Mon. 3/11/13 3:40pm hamburger:

um HELLO?!! I was unaware of said peewee reference
Avatar    Mon. 3/11/13 3:43pm Ike:

Today's secret word is PLEDGE?
Avatar    Mon. 3/11/13 3:45pm rsj:

peewee's finest moment, I think it was "Nice Dreams", hazy memory there...
Avatar    Mon. 3/11/13 3:50pm Cheri O:

Is this Skip's brother?
Avatar    Mon. 3/11/13 3:53pm Cheri O:

Everyone has a "new wave" brother hidden away somewhere.
Avatar    Mon. 3/11/13 3:53pm Danne D:

Sam Spence - isn't that the guy who did a lot of the NFL films music? #sportsytalk
Avatar    Mon. 3/11/13 3:54pm Mike East:

I had a friend over on Saturday and pitched him for about 3 hours on why its a good idea to donate money to FMU. I went so far as to mark up the mailer that the station sent out circling the premiums of shows that he might like with 3 word descriptions of the shows. I think I mighta sold him on it....or I may have lost a friend.
Avatar    Mon. 3/11/13 3:54pm XPat of Leche de Noche:

...I think I must be the new wave brother.....
Avatar Mon. 3/11/13 3:55pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

Hidden new-wave siblings: also good to be kept in a bowl of water, inna fridge. Keeps 'em fresh & ready for deployment when The Fight needs them...
Avatar Mon. 3/11/13 3:58pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

True 'nuff. I think I first discovered the WFMU stream in late '97, after seeing some tasty FMU swag in the archie mcphee catalog (?) god, am I remembering that right? Sheesh.
  Mon. 3/11/13 4:02pm Tony:

I have been wondering, what is the overall goal of the marathon? The homepage shows the percent raised, but what amount is that a percentage of?
Avatar    Mon. 3/11/13 4:02pm Danne D:

$1,200,000
Avatar    Mon. 3/11/13 4:02pm Cheri O:

If you don't have a bowl of water handy you can stack your new-wave sibs between damp tea-towels until ready for use.
Avatar Mon. 3/11/13 4:03pm Kleepeel:

What needs to be pledged for 'Kiss Me Deadly'?
Avatar Mon. 3/11/13 4:03pm Caryn:

@Tony: if you click on the "pledge" button of the main page station pledge widget, you can see the goal and how much has been made. At the moment, "$534,957 raised of $1,200,000 goal".
Avatar Mon. 3/11/13 4:04pm Scott Williams:

a pledge of any amount gets you in the running for Kiss Me Deadly!!
Avatar    Mon. 3/11/13 4:04pm Cheri O:

How can I listen to these murderous screams all day? make it so Scott Williams.
  Mon. 3/11/13 4:04pm Tony:

Thanks Danne. I thought maybe since the amount wasn't being publicized that it was so high it might scare people!
Avatar Mon. 3/11/13 4:04pm Kleepeel:

Okay awesome!
Avatar Mon. 3/11/13 4:06pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

Yes, Cheri. We need a Scott W / Traktor remix of the whole damned movie. Audio AND visual. ... speaking of which, what ever became of the video toaster? [random flashback]
Avatar    Mon. 3/11/13 4:07pm Cheri O:

I love Video Toaster! Especially that backflip it can do with disintegration effect.
Avatar    Mon. 3/11/13 4:07pm Danne D:

@Tony (you can actually see it if you hit the pledge button)
Avatar Mon. 3/11/13 4:07pm Caryn:

Man, "Kiss Me Deadly" is a great film... And a hugely influential one.
Avatar    Mon. 3/11/13 4:07pm Cheri O:

I have some old Video Toaster in a spice jar somewhere... I'm not sure if it's fresh anymore.
Avatar    Mon. 3/11/13 4:09pm Danne D:

Faye is excellent as a pitchwoman btw :)
  Mon. 3/11/13 4:09pm Sam:

How much do you have to pledge to get both the cat t-shirt and the radio zombie t-shirt?
Avatar    Mon. 3/11/13 4:10pm XPat of Leche de Noche:

Kiss Me Deadly is amazing...want to watch it now, toaster or no...
Avatar Mon. 3/11/13 4:12pm Caryn:

@Sam: you'd probably have to make 2 pledges, because that bit is a "X or X" choice on the pledge page. 50 bucks gets you one, so 2 pledges of that size gets you both.
Avatar    Mon. 3/11/13 4:13pm Danne D:

@Caryn - actually not sure how one would get BOTH shirts - maybe Scott can help on that one?
  Mon. 3/11/13 4:13pm Sam:

Yes, but they'll probably consider it as one pledge of 100, so I'd only get one t-shirt and a DJ premium.
Avatar    Mon. 3/11/13 4:13pm DCE:

what causes my toast to butter?
Avatar Mon. 3/11/13 4:14pm Scott Williams:

$100 gets you both shirts
  Mon. 3/11/13 4:14pm Sam:

I love this song, I always hear it on FMU
Avatar Mon. 3/11/13 4:14pm Caryn:

@Sam: yeah, but if you make them separate pledges and specify the swag, they give you the swag you want and have pledged for.
Avatar    Mon. 3/11/13 4:15pm Mike East:

@Sam - when you do it, stay in touch with Joe McG - he'll make sure you get what want.
Avatar    Mon. 3/11/13 4:17pm Ike:

Scott, eh? The pre-mara pledge form definitely didn't make that clear.

In any case... those who fail to pledge, I summon thee to BE EATEN BY FERAL CARDBOARD! Yum yum.
Avatar    Mon. 3/11/13 4:19pm DCE:

this is a breeding ground for great band names
Mon. 3/11/13 4:19pm Adam in Portland and Lynnwood:

Faye doesn't wanna go out! She wants pledges.
Avatar Mon. 3/11/13 4:20pm efd:

The hell you will! Oh wait, yes, you will.
Avatar    Mon. 3/11/13 4:20pm Carmichael:

Good thing I'm waiting so long to pledge, as all of your strategies have thoroughly confused me. I'll have a chance to study ...

Hi Scotty! Hi Fayey!

Ha, haaa.. That's easy Danne D! I'm contagious! I think? I hope?
Avatar Mon. 3/11/13 4:25pm chinchilla:

what?! faye singing S.Y.? where can I find this?
Avatar Mon. 3/11/13 4:26pm Caryn:

@chinchilla: last year's Marathon finale, H&M Sinfonia. I don't know if the ustream footage is still around, but the archive should be.
Mon. 3/11/13 4:26pm Adam in Portland and Lynnwood:

I love how Scott tripped over the phrase commercial music! WFMU!!
Avatar    Mon. 3/11/13 4:27pm Carmichael:

Chinch, I believe they were talking about last year's H&M Sinfonia. Hoping for a reprise.
Avatar Mon. 3/11/13 4:27pm Kleepeel:

Sweet! I would have been fine just being able to support WFMU and my favourite shows even if I had not got 'Kiss Me Deadly' but I am super excited! Great film, thanks!!! :^D

Avatar    Mon. 3/11/13 4:44pm Carmichael:

I have the WFMU thumb drive (full of delicious goodies), the WFMU bottle opener, about 25 or 30 DJ premiums, and a wazoo full of T-shirts that catch the eye of the impressed passerby. Don't you wish your life was as perfect and carefree as mine??
Avatar Mon. 3/11/13 4:49pm hamburger:

that gary panter shirt tho is gonna be a head turner hah
Mon. 3/11/13 4:50pm Adam in Portland and Lynnwood:

The pleasure of Angel Olsen's music is worth pledging until it hurts. Gorgeous! 1-800-989-9368

Oof! good stuff here
Avatar    Mon. 3/11/13 4:55pm Cheri O:

FAYE WHY U SAY "PHONE" LIKE U FROM PHILLY GIRL
Avatar    Mon. 3/11/13 5:43pm Ike:

Hey, you don't have to pay now. Choose "send me a bill" (or just pledge over the phone, all phone pledges are billed) and pay later!
  Mon. 3/11/13 5:43pm XPat:

Good luck ngh
Mon. 3/11/13 5:45pm Adam in Portland and Lynnwood:

I've seen WFMU naked! It was beautiful! Glorious! You can too! 1-800-989-9368.
Avatar Mon. 3/11/13 5:46pm northguineahills:

I don't want to do what I did last year, and pledge, and not have any dough to follow through. Of course, one can pledge at any time during the year.

danke, Xpat! It'll pretty much determine whether I stay in NYC or not.
Avatar Mon. 3/11/13 5:48pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

YEAH. What Ike said. Or do a bloody MOUSE pledge and choose monthly payments. Easy cheesy. If this insane jobless hack can do it, y'know....
Avatar Mon. 3/11/13 5:48pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

yeh, speaking of which, cheers on that, NGH.
  Mon. 3/11/13 5:49pm jack:

bud ice !
Avatar    Mon. 3/11/13 5:49pm Ike:

Quinn, I wish to know more about how to pronounce "phone" incorrectly.

Good luck, NGH.
Mon. 3/11/13 5:50pm Adam in Portland and Lynnwood:

Thank you, RTD! I'm practically penniless, but still find a way to scrape together my mouse of today pledge every year. If with a few bumps and scrapes. It •can• be done. I don't want to see WFMU fade away...
Avatar    Mon. 3/11/13 5:50pm Carmichael:

@ngh, they're just testing your patience. Next, they'll ask "Do things taste salty to you?" Your entire future rests on your answer. :-)
Avatar Mon. 3/11/13 5:51pm quinn:

the philly way to say the long "o" sound (home, phone, bone, etc) is to almost replace it with a long "a" sound. try it. say "hame" "phane" "bane". switch the long a sound to a long o sound right at the end of the vowel. THE END!
Avatar Mon. 3/11/13 5:52pm quinn:

i'm imagining WFMU commenters across the globe mouthing "hame" right now
Avatar    Mon. 3/11/13 5:52pm Ike:

I am enlightened. I wish to subscribe to your newsletter.
Avatar    Mon. 3/11/13 5:54pm Carmichael:

Is that like saying "malk" instead of "milk"? That drives me crazy.
Avatar    Mon. 3/11/13 5:54pm Jeff:

Let's not forget "wooter" for that clear liquid we sometimes drink.
Avatar Mon. 3/11/13 5:55pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

The Philly thing is mild-to-harmless to my ears. But that's because I've got Baltimore & eastern MD barking in my right ear with THAT lilt. After about sixty beers, my inner Maryland comes out, and hoo-boy.
Avatar Mon. 3/11/13 5:56pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

(right ear if I'm looking north to WFMU)
Avatar    Mon. 3/11/13 5:57pm Ike:

I've got something similar, RTD, but it's more Eastern Shore of MD, e.g. "woordor" for "water." I may have successfully eradicated it though.
Mon. 3/11/13 5:58pm Adam in Portland and Lynnwood:

Give Scott Williams some due peace. 1-800-989-9368.
Avatar    Mon. 3/11/13 5:58pm Carmichael:

Note to self for next year: develop a WFMU compass, so that wherever in the world you may be, you can face East Orange.
Avatar    Mon. 3/11/13 5:58pm Jeff:

There are some common dialect elements along that corridor from Ballmer to Philly.
Avatar    Mon. 3/11/13 6:00pm Carmichael:

Everyone in California is from somewhere else anyway (including me), so I normally hear a plethora of goofy talk.
Mon. 3/11/13 6:01pm Adam in Portland and Lynnwood:

Great show! Love you Scott and Faye!!!
Avatar Mon. 3/11/13 6:02pm northguineahills:
