Let us NOT get that tired argument going again, please. All parts of the globe are troubled and depressed. Quality of life is relative to one's expected situation. I don't think any of us could question that playing black metal anywhere in the Middle East shows extreme dedication.... |

William:
Don't get defensive, or attack my word usage, c'mon—I'm trying to back you up, here. I'm aware that playing metal music in Turkey, or perhaps Jordan, is more freer than in other countries. I do not consider the Middle East all the same place, not at all! No need to be on the defensive. |

I celebrate being free to make assertions about metal or anything else that are wrong and can be corrected, disputed, and discussed so that learning can happen, ideally on all sides. |

I like tapes, but I agree that finding a track is a chore. Tanzprocesz does it right, when a tape is sold out, he (eventually) uploads the tracks on the FMA, which solves the cueing problem |

Wm.:
The Israeli Army and their leaders are equally at fault, but at this point, nothing is more important than PEACE. With warring minds at the forefront, all we will ever have is unrest and war in the Middle East. An investment in peace MUST be made.Obviously, the trend of the last several centuries has not brought a positive result. I would love to visit the Middle East, but not at the possible cost of my son being an orphan. |

Apart from war zones, visiting the Middle East isn't particularly dangerous, according to well traveled friends. Iran doesn't seem to a problem, even with a US passport; you'd be much more likely to be jailed in Saudi Arabia, or Israel. If you were female, the story would be a bit different |

Fri. 3/1/13 2:37am
Wm.:
A call for PEACE is propaganda? With a clear statement that all parties are at fault? We could debate this forever, and many have. I will not. You obviously want to keep the FIGHT going, so WAR ON, brother! |

william, i think anyone reading this thread would say that your messages are the aggressive ones. it is neither "defensive" nor hostile to merely point out a few absurdities, like generalising about the Middle East. to state that your son is likely to become an orphan if you merely visit "the Middle East" is an appalling thing to say. the propaganda tells you that "the Middle East" is a dangerous place and that Arabs are violent. you appear to have swallowed that hook line and sinker. i visit there (and the US) many times, and what fred says is correct. i merely wish to put a stop to ignorant and intolerant comments, which is actually the only way we're really going to achieve peace |

|
Fri. 3/1/13 2:58am
Wm.:
Ausmanx - I see the Middle East as a set of separate countries, each with a different political climate. I fail to see how my comments could be construed as "aggressive." You seem to want to argue, and I don't. I do not watch or listen to Fox News, or any other clearly biased news outlet. The Middle East's major cities, they are NOT dangerous? Suicide bombers do not exist? Ok, then. You assume that I accept the force-fed media messages that we have over here, and I wholeheartedly do not. I have lost friends on several online communities, simply when the individual found out that I was American, they assumed that I swallowed whole everything that I was fed by newsmedia here, and/or that I (horrors!) supported the Neo-Con administration. You tell me where the bias lies.... |
