I researched it a bit -- the "Skirts" song goes back to a routine or duet where an Irish-background mother is telling her flapper daughter that being too sexual will only get her in trouble and backfire. You can various versions of the lyrics online....

one of my first records was skirts by billy murray and ilene stanley on victor later in same vein was don't bring lulu do you have warings collegiate which was revived in mif fifties and released on a 78 vinyl
