Avatar Mon. 2/11/13 3:05pm the glowing one:

nice musical illusion, what's it called again?
Avatar Mon. 2/11/13 3:05pm the glowing one:

shepard tone!
Avatar Mon. 2/11/13 3:05pm DCE:

one thing I do not need to hear is a rebroadcast of the Yanks beating up on the Indians. Chas Smith, on the other hand, yes...
Avatar Mon. 2/11/13 3:06pm Matt from Springfield:

Hey Scott! Hey everyone!

Don't chew the carpet, but especially don't shag the carpet...
Avatar Mon. 2/11/13 3:07pm pierre:

Bonsoir Scott and fellow listeners.
Some soul healing's super needed over here.
And it already started.
Avatar Mon. 2/11/13 3:09pm Van in DC:

This is sounding goody. Thanks Scott, hi Scott. Carry on Scott. Hi peoples. Hope all are goody today
Avatar Mon. 2/11/13 3:10pm glenn:

beatrix potter redux - www.casualoptimist.com...
Avatar Mon. 2/11/13 3:11pm glenn:

i suspect the yankees will getting whupped quite a bit this year. i hope so, anyhoo.
Avatar Mon. 2/11/13 3:11pm DCE:

I'm starting to feel just slightly off, so I won't shake anyone's hand today. Please do not be offended.
Avatar Mon. 2/11/13 3:11pm Matt from Springfield:

Bonsoir pierre! Good voix electronique this is.
Avatar Mon. 2/11/13 3:13pm Scott Williams:

Hey all! I'm feeling slightly off too, let's be sharing. Baseball? What's that? Grammies? I've only got 1 left. Pope?
Avatar Mon. 2/11/13 3:14pm Stanley The Meat Guy:

Ain't that a kick in the head
Avatar Mon. 2/11/13 3:16pm MuttonChops:

Is Fat the New Black (in fashion . . .)?
  Mon. 2/11/13 3:17pm Der Teppichfresser:

achtung, baby.
Avatar Mon. 2/11/13 3:19pm pierre:

let's talk about carpets, who has one ?
(i don't have any…)
  Mon. 2/11/13 3:20pm Esaison:

I want so to rank on the Grammies and point out how bland and risk-free they were. Yet, every time I start in, I sound like an old crab who's becoming irrelevant.
Avatar Mon. 2/11/13 3:21pm Scott Williams:

@ Esaison, you can start by decrying the side-boob ban. drove me away in droves
  Mon. 2/11/13 3:22pm Esaison:

How do I get one of those newfangled Avatar dealies?
Avatar Mon. 2/11/13 3:23pm Matt from Springfield:

@Scott: I've also got just 1 Grammy left.
But, that's better the Graham Chapmans (none left), or Graham crackers (none, at least at my home right now).
Avatar Mon. 2/11/13 3:23pm DCE:

the first 22 min of the program have been exceptional, and I think the trend will continue.
Avatar Mon. 2/11/13 3:23pm pierre:

@ Esaison : you'll have to click on the "sign in" and become part of the FMU friendship society.
Avatar Mon. 2/11/13 3:23pm glenn:

how many gram parsons, matt?
Avatar Mon. 2/11/13 3:23pm DCE:

the graham crackers go stale within days of opening the package.
Avatar Mon. 2/11/13 3:24pm Droll:

The problem with the Grammys is it's an industry award for the industry, but nobody makes a record specifically to win a Grammy the way movies and TV shows are sometimes made for the prestige factor of awards alone.
Avatar Mon. 2/11/13 3:24pm pierre:

we'll welcome you with open arms, on a red carpet (that you'll have to not chew, please)
Avatar Mon. 2/11/13 3:24pm Matt from Springfield:

Side-boob ban, pschaw...
What's the new rule? Ban anything that might be titillating (NPI) to 10 year old boys upwards?
Avatar Mon. 2/11/13 3:24pm Scott Williams:

thanks DCE! Esaison, you gotta click on that little link on the upper right, I think it says "sign up" or "sign in" or something. Once you're One Of Us, you can avatar up yourself.
Avatar Mon. 2/11/13 3:25pm DCE:

how much for a gram of the parsons?
Avatar Mon. 2/11/13 3:25pm glenn:

you said tit. hehe.
  Mon. 2/11/13 3:25pm Esaison:

Merci, pierre!
Avatar Mon. 2/11/13 3:27pm DCE:

only downside, Esaison, is once you become one of us, you go on the government watch list.
Avatar Mon. 2/11/13 3:27pm Matt from Springfield:

@glenn: I have a "Grevious Angel" copy, so though the man is gone, his music (and Emmylou harmonies) lives on.

@pierre: No carpets? Do you have hardwood floors? Or tile? Parquet? Do you have any "throw rugs" covering your floor space?
Avatar Mon. 2/11/13 3:29pm pierre:

@Matt : it's Parquet, which (I must say) my neighbours love.
  Mon. 2/11/13 3:31pm bug champ:

my money's on the Pope lost his faith in humanity...
Avatar Mon. 2/11/13 3:31pm MuttonChops:

Does anything ever begin or end?
Avatar Mon. 2/11/13 3:31pm fred:

Fantastic start, Scott. It could have been called carpet-chewing good, so thanks for the warning.
Avatar Mon. 2/11/13 3:32pm Matt from Springfield:

Nice, pierre!
Avatar Mon. 2/11/13 3:32pm MuttonChops:

I munch on that rug
Avatar Mon. 2/11/13 3:32pm Van in DC:

Stanley! I like eggs too
Avatar Mon. 2/11/13 3:37pm pierre:

oh, just heard a Vulva song this morning on amEdeo's sweet sound of humanity… I found it nice.
Avatar Mon. 2/11/13 3:41pm northguineahills:

Didn't want to say it, b/c it looks a bit off-color out of context, bu that's a nice Vulva, what label were they on? I don't remember them.
Avatar Mon. 2/11/13 3:42pm Scott Williams:

Vulva was on Aphex Twin's Rephlex label
Avatar Mon. 2/11/13 3:43pm rsj:

yeh baby digging the mellow vibe..sounds like mr richardson or whatever....
Avatar Mon. 2/11/13 3:45pm Van in DC:

ya'll have a good week!
Avatar Mon. 2/11/13 3:45pm northguineahills:

Avatar Mon. 2/11/13 3:46pm Matt from Springfield:

Peace out, Van!

Also, the "Peace Out Van" is parked outside, in case any of you, umm, want to "ease" the stress of work and "burn" it away...
Avatar Mon. 2/11/13 3:48pm Matt from Springfield:

*Heavily* pregnant pause there. In fact I'm ready to get some hot water and towels for it!
  Mon. 2/11/13 3:48pm DS:

I din't think it was "downer"
give me more
Avatar Mon. 2/11/13 3:54pm Matt from Springfield:

All day, and ALL of the night!

Awesome, thanks Yair!
Avatar Mon. 2/11/13 3:56pm northguineahills:

sharing the same opinion as Matt....
Avatar Mon. 2/11/13 4:01pm Scott Williams:

whoah, I sher fucked up that opener! twasn't Jean Conflict, twas Casearian Section. And THEN Jean Conflict
Avatar Mon. 2/11/13 4:04pm Matt from Springfield:

Great minds, NGH! :)
Avatar Mon. 2/11/13 4:06pm Scott Williams:

holy hell today's my day! technical errors & miscues up the ass!! sorry everyone, my snafu dry spell expires today
Avatar Mon. 2/11/13 4:07pm tim from champaign:

Wow! That Petra Haden was inspiring. I really dug her version of The Who Sell Out.
Avatar Mon. 2/11/13 4:08pm Matt from Springfield:

Don't worry Scott, it's not FMU *unless* we get the technical snafus!
Avatar Mon. 2/11/13 4:10pm pierre:

already loving this landing.
Avatar Mon. 2/11/13 4:10pm fred:

Well put Matt. Or to quote another WFMU DJ: strength through failure
Avatar Mon. 2/11/13 4:13pm Matt from Springfield:

Absolutely, fred!
Failure of Form...
Avatar Mon. 2/11/13 4:14pm KP:

Hey, Scott.
Avatar Mon. 2/11/13 4:15pm pierre:

Failure of Failures
Avatar Mon. 2/11/13 4:15pm KP:

Bonjour, Pierre, Matt, all.
Avatar Mon. 2/11/13 4:18pm Mike East:

been lurking all day. Hello all. Its a sad day. Someone broke the french press. good music lifts my spirits. Thanks Scott and WFMU.
Mon. 2/11/13 4:20pm Yair Yona (Tel Aviv, Israel,Earth,Milky Way):

Hey Scott, the entire Farthest South band are listening to your show now while assembling the CD cases of our debut album. Thanks for the beautiful Landing...
Avatar Mon. 2/11/13 4:20pm Mike East:

...and by that, I don't mean the news reporters in your country, pierre.
Avatar Mon. 2/11/13 4:22pm Scott Williams:

Hey Yair! Hope you heard the Jean conflict spin
Avatar Mon. 2/11/13 4:25pm glenn:

oh man, you have my deepest sympathies. scott, could you whistle "the broken french press blues" for mike, please?
Avatar Mon. 2/11/13 4:25pm Matt from Springfield:

Hank Hill, not a big fan of Scott Walker (maybe his 60s pop era, not the experimental stuff...)

Hiya KP, Mike East, and Yair!
Avatar Mon. 2/11/13 4:27pm DCE:

I fully expect my kid to show me that Hank Hill vidja today when I get home.
Avatar Mon. 2/11/13 4:27pm Mike East:

thanks, glenn.
Hey Matt!
Gotta go catcha bus. Check ya'll later!
Avatar Mon. 2/11/13 4:27pm Cheri Pi:

That youtube is blowing up the interwebs.
Avatar Mon. 2/11/13 4:28pm Chris from DC:

Thanks for the Hank Hill!
Avatar Mon. 2/11/13 4:28pm Matt from Springfield:

Thanks Lila!
Amanda could also have come up with that title, particularly with adding "baby!" to the end of it.
Avatar Mon. 2/11/13 4:29pm Matt from Springfield:

Catch that Magic Bus, Mike!
Avatar Mon. 2/11/13 4:31pm Matt from Springfield:

Always like the "You've Lost That Lovin' Feelin'" part of this bed :)
Avatar Mon. 2/11/13 4:31pm DCE:

huh, maybe Scott Walker will finally get his next big break!
Avatar Mon. 2/11/13 4:33pm Matt from Springfield:

Oh Lordy, I *SO* want bagpipes! At the very least, I need an acceptable bagpipe synth sound to play "bagpipe remixes" of certain songs.
Avatar Mon. 2/11/13 4:37pm Stanley:

@Matt - if you've lived in Scotland as long as I have you wouldn't be so enthusiastic about them
Avatar Mon. 2/11/13 4:38pm northguineahills:

What about Carpathian bagpipes?
Avatar Mon. 2/11/13 4:39pm Matt from Springfield:

The Relatives BRING it!

@Stanley: I want it mainly for taking the melodies of terrible songs, and re-doing as bagpipes :)
Avatar Mon. 2/11/13 4:40pm Matt from Springfield:

@Scott: The proper title appears to be: “Speak to Me (What's Wrong With America?)”
Avatar Mon. 2/11/13 4:40pm the glowing one:

I guess the song might be called What's Wrong in America... don't ask me how I came up with that tho.
Avatar Mon. 2/11/13 4:43pm Scott Williams:

thanks Matt! Stanley, I only need 'em for a minute or 3, but the set I got won't even make it that far.
Avatar Mon. 2/11/13 4:43pm Matt from Springfield:

No prob!
Avatar Mon. 2/11/13 4:43pm glenn:

what's the difference between mick jagger and an angry scotsman?
  Mon. 2/11/13 4:46pm WFMU Gnome:

Test comment. Pay no attention to the gnomes behind the curtain!
Avatar Mon. 2/11/13 4:46pm Matt from Springfield:

@glenn: What is the difference?...:)
Avatar Mon. 2/11/13 4:49pm Matt from Springfield:

Oooh, the Burmese ice cream girls! Wonder which flavors they have today!
Avatar Mon. 2/11/13 4:49pm G:

An angry Scotsman wishes he had money to sit on, and Mick is already sitting on that money.
Avatar Mon. 2/11/13 4:51pm Cheri Pi:

  Mon. 2/11/13 4:52pm WFMU Gnome:

Test comment. Pay no attention to the gnomes behind the curtain!
Avatar Mon. 2/11/13 4:53pm G:

Gno problem
Avatar Mon. 2/11/13 4:53pm Matt from Springfield:

Eh, figures it's about their stinginess :)

Did you know, copper wire was invented by two Scotsmen fighting over a penny!
Avatar Mon. 2/11/13 4:55pm glenn:

mick jagger says hey you, get off of my cloud. an angry scotsman says hey mcloud, get off of my ewe.
Avatar Mon. 2/11/13 4:55pm Matt from Springfield:

Heh, glenn :)
  Mon. 2/11/13 4:55pm WFMU Gnome:

Okay, hopefully last test! Keep smiling! :)
Avatar Mon. 2/11/13 4:56pm G:

Not a problem, Matt. Seconds away, Round Two.

An angry Scotsman wishes he had a nice set of bagpipes, and Mick's facial skin has the texture and firmness of set of bagpipes.

I'm sure the "real" answer is better than any made-up one...
Avatar Mon. 2/11/13 4:59pm G:

I was right about that last guess :)
  Mon. 2/11/13 5:00pm WFMU Gnome:

Guess that was too much to hope for...
Avatar Mon. 2/11/13 5:01pm G:

Now I'm noticing a "test pattern"
Avatar Mon. 2/11/13 5:02pm G:

As Roberto Durán so eloquently put it: Gno mas! :)
Avatar Mon. 2/11/13 5:03pm Matt from Springfield:

Oooh, Jacques Brel? Classic pop era Scott Walker! "Boy Child" comp, may want to get that.
Avatar Mon. 2/11/13 5:06pm john:

Love it when Montague Terrace kicks in...epic, as the kids say.
Avatar Mon. 2/11/13 5:06pm pierre:

the Cramps and la Lupe in the same set ! Well played Mr. Williams.
Avatar Mon. 2/11/13 5:08pm Matt from Springfield:

Ash Wednesday and Friends! Love and Other Numbers! Loving this track, loving the sections of the album title!
Avatar Mon. 2/11/13 5:11pm Matt from Springfield:

And now Percupulsions!
Avatar Mon. 2/11/13 5:13pm Sugarfly Waterloo:

Ash Wednesday plays keyboards for Einsturzende live
Avatar Mon. 2/11/13 5:15pm john:

I heard "78 Records from Vermont" and was like, whoa, Sublime Frequencies is really digging deep.
Avatar Mon. 2/11/13 5:17pm northguineahills:

lultz, john.
Avatar Mon. 2/11/13 5:21pm steve:

  Mon. 2/11/13 5:22pm moose:

feel i must say 've been listening halloo!
  Mon. 2/11/13 5:23pm matt:

was that narada michael waldon on drums?
Avatar Mon. 2/11/13 5:31pm Scott Williams:

Halloo Moose! Matt, nope - twas Jerzy Piotrowski
Avatar Mon. 2/11/13 5:37pm northguineahills:

digging the Jüppala Kääpiö
Avatar Mon. 2/11/13 5:37pm steve:

ok yes, that SBB instrumental was in fact sampled by Demdike Stare one-off Applehead. thanks Scott, probably never would have found that otherwise.
Avatar Mon. 2/11/13 5:38pm Scott Williams:

thanks steve! i didn't know that one either
Avatar Mon. 2/11/13 5:42pm Matt from Springfield:

Don't respond--you could receive a lifetime of free radio programming! And Tullis & Clark inspired listener remixes!!
Avatar Mon. 2/11/13 5:43pm EzSezz:

Scott, Why doesn't WFMU use Cashflow Consultants calls during the marathon? I especially like the idea that ignoring the call will result in more calls. Brilliant!
Avatar Mon. 2/11/13 5:47pm Stanley The Meat Guy:

I am back in another sec! Slow day here in the bread factory so they left us to our leisures! Thanks for the soundtrack for this occasion.
Avatar Mon. 2/11/13 5:53pm northguineahills:

Superb as always Scott!
Avatar Mon. 2/11/13 5:54pm glenn:

michael shelley posted this link saturday. funny stuff. www.youtube.com...
Avatar Mon. 2/11/13 5:59pm Matt from Springfield:

Ahhhhh, speaking of Gram & Emmylou..! :D
Avatar Mon. 2/11/13 5:59pm Matt from Springfield:

What NGH said! Thanks for a fine programme!
Have a good night everyone!
Avatar Mon. 2/11/13 6:00pm steve:
