Way to ruin everyone's fun Glenn. My show is really gonna suck now. Duke, if you find Nemo, sauté him with capers and onions. You'll always be #2 in my heart, Holland Oats. Uncle Michael, we gotta stop meeting like this.

good friday, all, and hello, doug! a touch late due to a bit of pre-storm chili-fixin's shopping and getting the parents prepped for any loss of power, and now it's just fmu, work, and eventual chili.

alas, i am desolate. i know it not.
Avatar Fri. 2/8/13 9:16am Uncle Michael:

I would direct you to a youtube animation for it but I think that for the first exposure, it should be audio-only. I think the visuals undermine the theatre of the mind.

Speaking of eventual chili, do you remember the restaurant in lower Manhattan called Exterminator Chili? They served their dishes in three degrees of hotness: residential, commercial and industrial.

Avatar Fri. 2/8/13 9:25am βrian:

Are you from the ethmus, ðcp?
Avatar Fri. 2/8/13 9:25am Doug Schulkind:

I just received the strangest email from Amazon.com:

"Dear Doug Schulkind,

We thought you'd like to know that eligible songs from "The Asch Recordings, Vol. 1-4" by Guthrie, Woody, a CD you purchased in 1999, are being added to your Cloud Player library. This means that high-quality MP3 versions of these songs are available for you to play or download from Cloud Player for FREE. You can find your songs in the "Purchased" playlist. Please note that some songs from the above CD are not eligible for this feature and may not be available in your Cloud Player library."

I guess I should be chuffed that Amazon is giving me free shit, but FUCK YOU for remembering what I bought in 1999.

No what i mean?
Avatar Fri. 2/8/13 9:26am ðcp:

I got a similar email--freaked me out
Avatar Fri. 2/8/13 9:26am Alex In Illinois:

Doug, YES I do remember Exterminator Chili from when I lived and worked in New York in the late 1980's. Where I worked was 1 block north of Canal on Broadway, so it was an easy walk to Exterminator Chili
Avatar Fri. 2/8/13 9:27am listener james from westwood:

i barely remember what i bought last year, much last 1999. that's helpful yet creepy.
Avatar Fri. 2/8/13 9:27am duke:

I got a similar e-mail from them listing songs from albums I had totally forgotten about.
Avatar Fri. 2/8/13 9:27am ðcp:

I'm from Kentucky via Pennsylvania if that qualifies as "ethmus"
Avatar Fri. 2/8/13 9:28am Uncle Michael:

Yeah, Doug. I got the Amazon email a week or so ago. I thought it was great. *shrug*
Avatar Fri. 2/8/13 9:28am Alex In Illinois:

@glenn
Thanks for that link to the shots of that fire in Chicago a few weeks ago. I live at the edge of Chicago, and I heard about the fire on the Radio, but I never knew there were such excellent photos of it.
Avatar Fri. 2/8/13 9:29am Uncle Michael:

Made me think...yeah...I remember buying CDs.
  Fri. 2/8/13 9:29am annie:

bob, that is so cool!! it's great how we all adapt to regional needs, coming together.... .. last night the room was full of drumming, sitar, guitar...
Avatar Fri. 2/8/13 9:29am duke:

ðcp - does that qualify as Pensyltucky
Avatar Fri. 2/8/13 9:29am Brian in UK:

Hello Doug & acolytes. Did Amazon exist in the last century?

Hey Paul. Likin' Mr Eaglesmith. I hear Various Artists have broken up but there is now a tribute band formed in their wake.

Avatar Fri. 2/8/13 9:30am Doug Schulkind:

Warm and toasties to Alex and ðcp!
Avatar Fri. 2/8/13 9:30am Parq:

Okay, I'm going to work. If I'm not back on the playlist by 11 AM, send out a St. Bernard with a cask of whiskey. If you can think of another way to send the whiskey, you can skip the dog.
Avatar Fri. 2/8/13 9:30am Alex In Illinois:

I noticed a few of you planning to have chili during the storm. YEsterday on the Cajun Medicine show on WVKR, Dr. Romo said the same thing "Bread and Milk? I'm having chili!"
Avatar Fri. 2/8/13 9:30am Uncle Michael:

If Doug plays any Pandit Pran Nath I'll have to brag on my Uncle Jim again.
Avatar Fri. 2/8/13 9:32am Doug Schulkind:

Alas no Pran Nath today, UM. But I surely could have.
Avatar Fri. 2/8/13 9:33am Uncle Michael:

Whew. The reflected light off my Uncle's accomplishments makes my eyes water. I wish I had more of my own.
Avatar Fri. 2/8/13 9:33am Doug Schulkind:

Avatar Fri. 2/8/13 9:35am Alex In Illinois:

@βrian, which isthmus? Are you in Madison Wisconsin?
Avatar Fri. 2/8/13 9:35am glenn:

i bet i'm the only person here who's never bought anything from amazon.
Avatar Fri. 2/8/13 9:37am Uncle Michael:

I don't give a shit if my ones and zeroes are on a CD, my hard drive or in the so-called cloud. I hate buying CDs just to rip them and then put them with Speilberg's Ark of the Covenant. I love my vinyl but I try not to fetishize it too much.
  Fri. 2/8/13 9:37am Shaun:

If I was signed in if be hitting favourite so hard it'd knock Ken out of bed
Avatar Fri. 2/8/13 9:38am Doug Schulkind:

@Brian in UK
Steeleye Span's "Little Sir Hugh" just played on the stream about eight minutes before GTDS started!
Avatar Fri. 2/8/13 9:38am Uncle Michael:

YW for the link Doug. I think you'll dig it.
Avatar Fri. 2/8/13 9:38am βrian:

the snow came on hard early, but quickly eased back to tiny, pretty flakes being driven by the wind down here in northern nj. it's windy here but not icy icy cold out. snow's sticking to turf but melting on macadam. i'm sure that will change.

will you play some Butch Morris ?
Avatar Fri. 2/8/13 10:16am Jeff Golick:

This is nice.
Avatar Fri. 2/8/13 10:19am Doug Schulkind:

@Glenn
You are not incorrect that there is a particular model of guitar that is called a parlor guitar, but (according to many sources, including the liners to "Rural Parlor Guitar"), it is also a style and repertoire of a certain style of finger-picked instrumental playing.

@Tom Shad
I don't have any Butch M cued up for today's show. I am not much of a "memorial" programmer, though I dearly loved Butch and his music. (That said, some times I DO play music of a recently departed artist. Not sure what leads me to do or not. I just follow my heart.)

@Jeff Golick
You are nice. Especially when there are four of you simultaneously.
Avatar Fri. 2/8/13 10:20am Hugo:

Rova doing Terry Riley? Intriguing and works, too.
Avatar Fri. 2/8/13 10:21am Artie:

My goodness how I love a saxophone quartet!
Avatar Fri. 2/8/13 10:22am glenn:

my apologies.
Avatar Fri. 2/8/13 10:22am Doug Schulkind:

I guess a part of me feels unhappy with the opportunistic aspect to memorial broadcasts. (Though of course I applaud WKCR's amazing efforts.) I contradict myself because I sometimes do it. With Pete LaRoca most recently and Marion Brown last year. I guess if I just feel compelled to do it, I will feature a dearly departed artist. Butch Morris is surely that.
Avatar Fri. 2/8/13 10:24am Jeff Golick:

(FWIW, there will be some Lawrence D. "Butch" Morris played on the next D:O Show...)
Avatar Fri. 2/8/13 10:26am Parq:

@Hugo: holy mackerel - that Gottschalk show...he went ALL OUT.
Avatar Fri. 2/8/13 10:29am Uncle Michael:

I never feel opportunistic about honoring a departed artist. In fact, it would be easier not to bother. They all have birthdays every year but they only die once and often, attention should be paid. Usually it's the acknowledgement and one track....just to say it matters. That's how it is for me.
Avatar Fri. 2/8/13 10:31am Doug Schulkind:

Paying tribute is always OK. Absolutely.

Avatar Fri. 2/8/13 10:43am glenn:

some good news - www.thestar.com...
Avatar Fri. 2/8/13 10:45am Uncle Michael:

@glenn I live here in the land of WBC and my wife actually works with one of the separatist Phelpses...an aunt to the two young women that are getting all the press.
Avatar Fri. 2/8/13 10:47am Va Van:

Think I'll go hop on a MegaBus headed to NYC to play in the snow.

Not.
Avatar Fri. 2/8/13 10:48am still b/p:

I checked Do The Strand. Fun. Have to listen more to see if it's worth more than a novelty dip.
Avatar Fri. 2/8/13 10:49am Matt from Springfield:

Howdy Doug and Drumheads!
Plenty of liquid snow outside in VA!
Avatar Fri. 2/8/13 10:50am ndbob:

greetings Matt!
Avatar Fri. 2/8/13 10:51am Doug Schulkind:

Holler to you, Matt from Springfield!
Avatar Fri. 2/8/13 10:53am Matt from Springfield:

Greets, Bob!
Not Holier-than-thou, but rather Holler-TO-thou, Doug!
Avatar Fri. 2/8/13 10:53am Doug Schulkind:

Wow, that's deep, Uncle Michael. Does everyone just pretend that Aunt Phelps is a regular person at work who has an unmentioned "hobby" on the weekends?
Avatar Fri. 2/8/13 10:56am Va Van:

The Boston BlizCam www.boston.com...
Avatar Fri. 2/8/13 10:56am Parq:

Loving this Brass Band track. Tempted to start dancing around with an umbrella. Oh wait, haven't got an umbrella ...
Avatar Fri. 2/8/13 10:56am still b/p:

I can't go out, I can't go out, I can't go out for the shovel start when the accumulation of good sounds is so significant inside.
Avatar Fri. 2/8/13 10:57am Doug Schulkind:

@Va Van
Is there sound with that BlizCam? (I will click the link if no audio.)
Avatar Fri. 2/8/13 10:58am kat330:

Hello, Doug! [and re: your 9:25] Yep, we got the same missives from AMZ a few days ago. A bit weird indeed.

And @still b/p: [@9:43] Damn, that nemo/omen bit was going to be my opening line when I arrived. You stole my blizzard. ;)
Avatar Fri. 2/8/13 10:59am Va Van:

I don't hear anything...but it does have a commercial that plays first that I didn't listen to...I mean I don't know if it had sound or not but probably does
Avatar Fri. 2/8/13 11:00am Doug Schulkind:

Can someone please explain to me how Pittsburgh could be listed as the 4th most literate American city (www.huffingtonpost.com...) when there are NO GODDDAMMED BOOKSORES here!!??
Avatar Fri. 2/8/13 11:00am Matt from Springfield:

@kat: still b/p certainly stole the thunder from your...thunderblizzard.
Hi kat!
Avatar Fri. 2/8/13 11:01am Uncle Michael:

Let me clarify. By Separatist, I mean she's one that left the clan years ago and has been dead to them ever since.
Avatar Fri. 2/8/13 11:02am Matt from Springfield:

@Doug: No "booksores" should be a good thing, it means the readers are reading out and about, and not sleeping in their own books and getting sores :)
Avatar Fri. 2/8/13 11:02am Uncle Michael:

As far as I know, she's the only one that left the "church" but didn't leave town.
Avatar Fri. 2/8/13 11:02am Matt from Springfield:

@UM: Actually that's what I thought you meant.
Avatar Fri. 2/8/13 11:02am ndbob:

Hey kat!
Avatar Fri. 2/8/13 11:03am Matt from Springfield:

Soweto rock!
Avatar Fri. 2/8/13 11:04am still b/p:

kat -- Sorry. Robert Frost wrote about that...Copping My Words on a Snowy Thieving.
Avatar Fri. 2/8/13 11:04am Carmichael:

Greetings Doug and Friendship Society members.
Avatar Fri. 2/8/13 11:04am kat330:

Hey, Matt and Hey, Bob! Having trouble with the stream on my Grace. I'm Grace-less...
Avatar Fri. 2/8/13 11:05am kat330:

Wow, it's like a trio arriving for rehearsal the same time -- Matt, Carm & me. :)
Avatar Fri. 2/8/13 11:06am ndbob:

heya Carmichael!
Avatar Fri. 2/8/13 11:07am Jeff Golick:

@Doug: maybe it's because you all are the only ones who can still spell Pittsberg correctly?
Avatar Fri. 2/8/13 11:08am Alex In Illinois:

I think there are other WBC apostates. At the Reason Rally in D. C. last spring, there was a son of Phelps who had left, speaking about being brough up in an environment of fear and hate.
Avatar Fri. 2/8/13 11:08am Matt from Springfield:

@kat: Then what should we be called? CarmaKat Matt?
Maybe not a band name, but 'twould work for the label name...
Avatar Fri. 2/8/13 11:09am kat330:

Carmatkat?
Avatar Fri. 2/8/13 11:09am Doug Schulkind:

Hiya kat330!!

Did I really type "booksores"? Sheesh. That further proves that the list is wrong wrong wrong.
Avatar Fri. 2/8/13 11:10am VA(n):

I'm just Van
Avatar Fri. 2/8/13 11:11am Doug Schulkind:

Hey Carmichael!
Avatar Fri. 2/8/13 11:11am Alex In Illinois:

Maybe Pittsburgh is so literate because most of the industries have shrunk with the exception of the University communities. And maybe many of these readers are students who find it more economical to check out books form libraries. Just a theory.
Avatar Fri. 2/8/13 11:11am kat330:

I can't get the FMU stream on the Grace either. Esp. annoying now that we've lost the remote for the Squeezebox -- but at least it's bringing me the streams.
Avatar Fri. 2/8/13 11:12am glenn:

honestly, is there a better post shoveling snack than toasted crumpets with butter and smuckers strawberry jam?
Avatar Fri. 2/8/13 11:12am kat330:

How much you shoveling, glenn?
Avatar Fri. 2/8/13 11:12am Matt from Springfield:

@VA: You're so Van. You probably think that handle's about you.
@kat: Carmatkatica.
Avatar Fri. 2/8/13 11:13am Matt from Springfield:

@glenn: Isn't a crumpet basically an English muffin?
Avatar Fri. 2/8/13 11:13am Uncle Michael:

Kat, any number of smartphone apps will let you forget that you lost your remote.
Avatar Fri. 2/8/13 11:13am kat330:

@still b/p: Earphones that can extend some way outside? Because it's certainly easier on the back to shovel as it arrives rather than after it's all down.
Avatar Fri. 2/8/13 11:14am glenn:

4th time this morning. probably 3" each time.
Avatar Fri. 2/8/13 11:14am Doug Schulkind:

@Alex
Your theory would be a good one (surely it is a good one) if there were at least some decent university bookstores here, but there ain't.
Avatar Fri. 2/8/13 11:15am Uncle Michael:

The Joe Dukes is proving more elusive than I had expected.
Avatar Fri. 2/8/13 11:15am kat330:

@UM: Funny thing about that was wishing we could call our SB remote so we might find it! We don't own a smartphone, btw, but that miguel be its best advantage for something that size
Avatar Fri. 2/8/13 11:15am Carmichael:

Quite a lot of posts on a sunny Friday morning here in Jerry Brown Town. Hi kat, Matt, Bob, and the whole Hee Haw gang.
Avatar Fri. 2/8/13 11:15am Alex In Illinois:

@kat330
Your squeezebox has a remote!? (See my avatar)
  Fri. 2/8/13 11:16am Andrew:

A crumpet is more like a small thick pancake. But drier and crispier, and toasted.
Avatar Fri. 2/8/13 11:16am glenn:

NO!!!!! they're both excellent, but completely different.
Avatar Fri. 2/8/13 11:17am kat330:

@Alex: Yeah, not that sort of Squeezebox -- yours is far more mollusk! :)
Avatar Fri. 2/8/13 11:18am Brian in UK:

Pancakes -NO. Galettes - YES.
Avatar Fri. 2/8/13 11:18am Matt from Springfield:

@Andrew/glenn: A bit sweeter than a muffin then?
  Fri. 2/8/13 11:20am Andrew:

No, quite savoury - until you cover it in jam. Though my dad its them with butter and salt.
Avatar Fri. 2/8/13 11:20am Matt from Springfield:

Hi Carm!
Avatar Fri. 2/8/13 11:20am kat330:

This song's a sequel to "Are You Cookin' Beans?"
Avatar Fri. 2/8/13 11:21am Brian in UK:

Paul I was not ignoring you, just freezing my nuts off in the woods but that's another story. In answer to your question no idea!
Fri. 2/8/13 11:21am Unclear on the concept:

This is another one of those songs that you could take more than one way.
Avatar Fri. 2/8/13 11:21am Doug Schulkind:

Trying to find that Joe Dukes, UM. Can't remember where I got it...
Avatar Fri. 2/8/13 11:22am Doug Schulkind:

Howdy Andrew!
Avatar Fri. 2/8/13 11:22am kat330:

@Brian: Well now you'll just have to roast your chestnuts on an open fire.
Avatar Fri. 2/8/13 11:23am kat330:

Not every old blues song is double entrendre, but 95% are.
  Fri. 2/8/13 11:23am Andrew:

Good afternoon!
Avatar Fri. 2/8/13 11:23am Van in DC:

kat is that you in your avatar? I bring my snow pic back. Old snowmageddon, meet new one...
Avatar Fri. 2/8/13 11:24am Uncle Michael:

Hee! I spun Butcher Pete very recently. I love this shit. I think I have it on the Bump Jump Jive comps.
Avatar Fri. 2/8/13 11:25am Carmichael:

Hey Doug, did you get out of the music blogspot e-mail group business? Or am I just out of the club?
Avatar Fri. 2/8/13 11:25am kat330:

@Van: Yes, I rotated this one in in honor of Nemo. Moi in Vermont some many moons ago. From a proofsheet of photos taken by my landlady (at her request, not mine).
Avatar Fri. 2/8/13 11:25am glenn:

kat, is that an old blues song in your pocket, or are you just happy to see me? -
Avatar Fri. 2/8/13 11:26am Brian in UK:

Whacking & meat in the same song. Oh matron.
Avatar Fri. 2/8/13 11:26am kat330:

I like the dogs frolicking in the snow in the background. It was below zero on that day.
Avatar Fri. 2/8/13 11:28am Uncle Michael:

Pete's a Maine Yak.
Avatar Fri. 2/8/13 11:28am Van in DC:

So, snowmageddon...? snowpocalypse... snowpocalypse...? snowmageddon...aaaaaaaaand I'm out to have lunch with a friend up from Dallas. Thanks Doug, bye all!
Avatar Fri. 2/8/13 11:28am Doug Schulkind:

@Carmichael
I am delinquent (so far) this week. A little oral surgery set me back. Hope to get a newsletter/Motherlode out tomorrow. Are you getting my stream email alerts? If so, you are still on the list.
Avatar Fri. 2/8/13 11:29am kat330:

Bye, Van! Stay warm!
Avatar Fri. 2/8/13 11:29am Matt from Springfield:

Have a good weekend Van!
Avatar Fri. 2/8/13 11:29am kat330:

@Matt: Hey, tell us about your fancy-shmancy meal last night!
Avatar Fri. 2/8/13 11:29am Parq:

Kat, I had to open your profile pic up full to see it properly. In thumbnail form, it looked like you in an elevator with a pair of long haired dachshunds. Dox lover that I am, I was a little disappointed to learn the truth.
Avatar Fri. 2/8/13 11:30am Doug Schulkind:

Bye Van!

Love those Bump comps, UM. I have it on "Nasty Rhythm 'n' Blues" as well.
Avatar Fri. 2/8/13 11:30am Brian in UK:

@ Hugo Kurt's programme was good last week I had trouble with 'Overcome Babylon' though.
Avatar Fri. 2/8/13 11:30am Doug Schulkind:

Wait, Parq's here? I better break out the GOOD shit!
Avatar Fri. 2/8/13 11:32am Uncle Michael:

Anyone ever use soundsbox.com?

hrftudc.soundsbox.com...
Avatar Fri. 2/8/13 11:32am Matt from Springfield:

Tiny Davis, OTOH, sounds VERY entendre-ish!
Avatar Fri. 2/8/13 11:32am kat330:

@Parq: Aw, sorry to disappoint. :) Those were also the landcouple's dogs. We had a couple of kitties with us up in the attic of their 150-yr-old house. The room we used as a kitchen was wallpapered entirely in glamor shots of H-wood stars from the 30s-40s, taken from magazines.
Avatar Fri. 2/8/13 11:33am kat330:

Not I, UM.
Avatar Fri. 2/8/13 11:35am kat330:

Butcher Pete and Race Horse -- hm, anyone else hear how DNA testing in England showed horsemeat in the burgers of ?? Burger King?
Avatar Fri. 2/8/13 11:35am Matt from Springfield:

@kat: My choice on a prix fixe menu--Caesar salad with handmade croutons, a Chilean sea bass with basmati rice and very freshly chopped spinach, tomatoes and garlic, and two mini creme brulees, chocolate and berry flavored. All at $35 per person!

I found out once I got there that this was a promo for "Restaurant Week", so it sounds like the relatively new Monty's Steakhouse soon may be recognized in Washingtonian's "Best of Virginia" or some list like that.
Avatar Fri. 2/8/13 11:37am AndrewC.:

kat330 - Tesco (a supermarket)
Avatar Fri. 2/8/13 11:37am AndrewC.:

Though they've now found ready made beef lasagne that is 100% horsemeat.
Avatar Fri. 2/8/13 11:38am Carmichael:

Doug, I haven't received ANY mail from you for about 3 weeks. That's why I asked.
  Fri. 2/8/13 11:38am Paul Sherratt:

Brian,
It's ok, I knew that you'd be going down to the woods today... echo of Val Rosing ... and I've no idea either !
Avatar Fri. 2/8/13 11:38am Matt from Springfield:

"Document Records: An Emporium of Shittogetherness".
Avatar Fri. 2/8/13 11:38am kat330:

Mmmmm, sounds mouth-watering, Matt!

@AndrewC: Ewwww, disgusting.
Avatar Fri. 2/8/13 11:38am glenn:

meh. lots of people eat horse.
Avatar Fri. 2/8/13 11:39am glenn:

i mean, package it as such, but still.
Avatar Fri. 2/8/13 11:39am kat330:

Apt that they were testing at Tesco.
Avatar Fri. 2/8/13 11:39am Doug Schulkind:

@Carmichael
This is an outrage. I must flog (again) my unpaid intern. Please email me again so I can check for you on the list (and re-add you if something's amiss).
Avatar Fri. 2/8/13 11:40am Uncle Michael:

Damn those unflogged interns.
Avatar Fri. 2/8/13 11:40am Doug Schulkind:

@Matt from Springfield
I'm sure Document will want to put that on a banner across their website.
Avatar Fri. 2/8/13 11:41am kat330:

@glenn: Yes, truth in advertising is the point.
Avatar Fri. 2/8/13 11:43am ndbob:

@kat Yep - I've been following the horsemeat story
Avatar Fri. 2/8/13 11:43am Matt from Springfield:

@Doug: In gold lettering, on a deep red background.

@glenn: Processed lasagna made of horse makes me think of the cartoons where a horse (or any other animal) goes into a machine, and little packages of processed food come out. One step closer to that freaky vision...
Avatar Fri. 2/8/13 11:44am Brian in UK:

@Paul Have you heard that Dorothy Oxenford (Listen with Mother) passed away recently.
Avatar Fri. 2/8/13 11:45am Brian in UK:

They found a filled tooth in some sausages the other day.
Avatar Fri. 2/8/13 11:45am Doug Schulkind:

@Uncle Michael
I found the link for the Joe Dukes, but when you click on the Mediafire, it says "Files Belongs to a Suspended Account."
Avatar Fri. 2/8/13 11:46am Brian in UK:

@Doug 'Unpaid intern' - Oxymoron.
Avatar Fri. 2/8/13 11:47am kat330:

I mean, there are people probably fine with eating pig anus, but it's a kindness to those who are not to tell customers their calamari is turf not surf.
Avatar Fri. 2/8/13 11:47am Brian in UK:

They found a arse in Downing Street.
Avatar Fri. 2/8/13 11:47am Doug Schulkind:

@Brian in UK

Avatar Fri. 2/8/13 11:48am kat330:

@Brian: :)
Avatar Fri. 2/8/13 11:48am Carmichael:

Done, Doug!
Avatar Fri. 2/8/13 11:49am AndrewC.:

Why didn't they find the horse meat in the lasagne sooner?...

...

The used mask-a-pony cheese.
Avatar Fri. 2/8/13 11:50am kat330:

Ohhhh....that one hurt, Andrew.
Avatar Fri. 2/8/13 11:51am Matt from Springfield:

@Andrew: Hmm, I should check these cannoli now. They may be masking pony in here too...
Avatar Fri. 2/8/13 11:51am Brian in UK:

Oooh Andrew the old ones are the best. Is that a Gloucester Old Spot?
Avatar Fri. 2/8/13 11:51am glenn:

oh man. that's not very NEIGHbourly.
Avatar Fri. 2/8/13 11:51am Uncle Michael:

Thanks for giving it the old college try, Doug.
Avatar Fri. 2/8/13 11:51am Matt from Springfield:

In the meantime, play it safe everyone, and stick to mask-a-pony and cheese (Mask n' Cheese).
Avatar Fri. 2/8/13 11:52am Matt from Springfield:

Sweet bass on this!
Avatar Fri. 2/8/13 11:52am AndrewC.:

I think it is an old spot. Taken at the local petting zoo.
Avatar Fri. 2/8/13 11:53am kat330:

Andrew, your pork actually gets smaller when clicking on it to make it bigger (and, NO, no double entendre in any of that sentence).
Avatar Fri. 2/8/13 11:55am Brian in UK:

Nowt wrong with horse meat. I draw the line at rodents. Vicuna in the basket anyone.
Avatar Fri. 2/8/13 11:55am Matt from Springfield:

@Doug: I think you should come up to JC for the Marathon, and form an ad hoc Triumvirate with Clay Pigeon and Meghan McKee. Why's that? Because I noticed that those DJs and/or their commenters are among the most "punny" in the FMcommUnity. Putting all of you together on a single show will cause a critical mass of puns to be reached, and will wash verbal energy all over the world. Which I can only assume would be a good thing.
Avatar Fri. 2/8/13 11:55am ndbob:

not to mention buffalo burgers - it does feel strange eating a buffalo burger while looking at a buffalo
Avatar Fri. 2/8/13 11:56am ndbob:

some rodents are considered delicacies in some places
Avatar Fri. 2/8/13 11:56am kat330:

Wow, the ol' clock on the wall is saying it's that time again. Miss the Steinski afterglow hour... Thanks, Sir Doug!! Have a great weekend, chili not chilly for all!
Avatar Fri. 2/8/13 11:58am Uncle Michael:

Great show per usual, Doug. Thank you.
Avatar Fri. 2/8/13 11:58am Brian in UK:

Good job as ever, Doug. Do not rest on your laurels, someone might eat them.
Avatar Fri. 2/8/13 11:58am ndbob:

excellent show Doug!
Avatar Fri. 2/8/13 11:58am Doug Schulkind:

@Matt from SPringfield
I hope to be back to JC for part of the Marathon!
Avatar Fri. 2/8/13 11:59am Uncle Michael:

Avatar Fri. 2/8/13 12:00pm Doug Schulkind:

I had a gas playing records with use guys today!
Avatar Fri. 2/8/13 12:00pm Matt from Springfield:

@Doug: Cool! Maybe the punuclear explosion won't happen, but combining you and other FMU personalities is always a good thing!
Avatar Fri. 2/8/13 12:01pm Doug Schulkind:

I now officially love "punuclear."
Avatar Fri. 2/8/13 12:01pm Matt from Springfield:

I second Brian in UK! :)
Fantastic show, perking us up despite the dreary weather outside! Have a safe and great weekend, everyone!
Avatar Fri. 2/8/13 12:02pm Uncle Michael:

See use all later.
Avatar Fri. 2/8/13 12:02pm listener james from westwood:

many thanks, doug; a lovely pre-storm serenade!
Avatar Fri. 2/8/13 12:03pm Matt from Springfield:

Take my word, please!
Avatar Fri. 2/8/13 12:05pm still b/p:

Nooo! Now I've shoveled and deserve soup, trophies and real-time DJ muuuuusic!
See you in the aftermath.
