Please don't change the theme song - the only reason I wake up on Fridays is to hear the transition from "It's time to say good shabbos" to "Hipnosis".

howdy scott. happy holiday (post). I have a 24 bit/ 44.1 AIFF recording off the net of Hipnosis I can send ya if you need it. Just from taping highlights and all that. Kills a little piece of my soul to think of the theme changing. It's so Iconic!

That theme song turned me and the guys at record store I order from onto Moncur's Blue Note stuff.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:25am
Scott:

Yes! It is a beautiful body of work, those Jackie McLean blue notes. The best of inside/outside.
  9:32am
DCE:

well, at least we'll be really well-acquainted with the tune by the end of the show

Peter K:

There's a great vocal version of "Lonely Woman" by Helen Merrill, with a saxophone solo by Gary Bartz -- I think it's on the Helen Merrill-Dick Katz album "A Shade of Difference."
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:01am
Scott:

Never heard that one!
  11:13am
Andrew Waterloo:

It's surprising how much variety there is in this set.

Helen Merrill! Thanks, Peter. I've been looking for that version FOREVER! Somebody sang it to me once, and I always wanted to know where those vocals came from.

Glad you carried out your threat, Scott. Show was so good!

Wow, thanks for ID-ing that Haden quote of "John Henry"! It was haunting me all day. This show ruled. I think the Takayanagi was the pinnacle.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:39pm
Scott:

Also Don Cherry heavily quoting "Summertime" in the solo just prior to Haden's. :)

I was turned on to this show this past week (last week of 2016). The show still stands up four years later. Thank God for the archive.
