As U know right now here on W F M U, just as we got past our Silent Fundraiser, we have been forced into Hurricane Recovery Mode as the radio station in Jersey City uncovers more and more damage to our studios and transmitter sites. This combined with the huge financial loss we've taking due to the cancellation of the famed WFMU Record Fair has sent us up shit's creek - IE we iz hella broke and REALLY NEED YOUR SUPPORT. If u already recently donated during the Silent drive - you don't need to do anymore - but if not do your utmost to make a Hurricane Recovery pledge now - find link here on website - and you will not only get a good feeling but also get the great new Turntable T-shirt or holiday music compilation, WFMU's War on Christmas (featuring an exclusive unreleased mix of Big Star's "Jesus Christ", plus James Pants, Klaus Nomi and more). You can help keep WFMU going by donating now in box on top left of this playlist……THANK U 4 Ur SUPPORT to W F M U

or this special episode of WFMU's "Put The Needle On The Record" I go back in time to the years 1987 to 1990 in Bay Area rap. I will some Bay Area rap releases from that period as well as play radio moments from those years on KALX FM Berkeley - including call-in raps with my man G-Spot (Gary J. Baca) and live on air studio session with Dave ID K-OS and Sir Quickdraw (aka Naru Kwina). - The records I will be playing today will include from the East Bay Digiital Underground and Too $hort and from San Francisco Rappin 4 Tay (from his debut on the 1988 Dangerous Crew compilation presented by Too $hort) and ATC Crew - who were on Paris' Scarface label. - as well as MVP (later The Click) outta Vallejo on thier 1988 debut
