here we gooooooo
Avatar Thu. 11/1/12 9:26am Scott W:

yes, our building stayed magically dry! studios are in fine shape. tho we lost the Record Fair, which really really hurts. What Fred said up there, would be great to see the little doggie tail wag today! Our silent fundraiser moved very slowly, and the loss of the record fair is setting us back to the tune of several scores of thousands of $$$. So I do hope those of you with the means can show some support!
  Thu. 11/1/12 9:31am fred:

That crash course in what it would feel like without the station made me cough up an extra mouse yesterday
  Thu. 11/1/12 9:31am pierre:

Bonjour Scott and gang.
It's good to see you there.
  Thu. 11/1/12 9:34am fred:

Bonjour Pierre! I guess you got my message...
Avatar Thu. 11/1/12 9:35am Kenzo (lastever):

All the slower-connection streams are restored, and linked here and elsewhere, so you can listen to Scott, slower.
Thu. 11/1/12 9:36am Sandy in Houston:

Sorry about the Hurricane.
  Thu. 11/1/12 9:37am other david:

Great to hear you back, Scott.
  Thu. 11/1/12 9:37am San Johntonio:

I am glad y'all are streaming. I wish all the Northeast WFMU listeners a quick recovery. Please don't play 4'33 ever again!

Took me long time to find a parking space in this garage that also had 3G service but I just did. It's warmer than my house and has lights and the internets. And is cheaper than hotel.
  Thu. 11/1/12 9:56am artingu:

  Thu. 11/1/12 9:58am Cecile:

Thu. 11/1/12 10:01am green mountain man mark:

One thing is a positive in all of this. so happy to hear these past few days the taking advantage of the being able to cuss and other no no FCC stuff while the chance is had.
  Thu. 11/1/12 10:02am Bill:

Here's where we stand: foul language is restricted on a media source that is infrequently used by minors, but permitted on a medium that is commonly used, and through which thousands of stations are available.
  Thu. 11/1/12 10:02am Andrew:

ah this show is great ^_^
haha in the Traktor

  Thu. 11/1/12 10:13am Cecile:

you guys should do a virtual record fair.
  Thu. 11/1/12 10:14am Cecile:

  Thu. 11/1/12 10:16am Cecile:

Whisky Williams you know you are driving me insane.
  Thu. 11/1/12 10:17am Cecile:

Maybe a special eBay section?
Links to vendors off the WFMU site?
Maybe put it to that genius Kenzo?
Thu. 11/1/12 10:17am Chris from DC:

Good call, Cecile.
  Thu. 11/1/12 10:18am Cecile:

It is the one song Scott will play if he can if you request it. He cannot resist its power.
  Thu. 11/1/12 10:20am BSI:

OOH... a worldwide online record swap-meet to benefit FMU -- station takes a % of each sale. How hard could it be? (famous last words?)...
Thu. 11/1/12 10:21am Brian in UK:

Hello Scott. Good work. Fear I am pledged out right now.
  Thu. 11/1/12 10:22am Awesome:

Yes. Yes he is.
  Thu. 11/1/12 10:22am jt:

thought this sounded a lot like the spacemen 3
  Thu. 11/1/12 10:22am Cecile:

Yeah, exactly, BSI.
Another thing would be to call on artists who work on Etsy and do something through there - maybe a fundraising poster or pins or whatever.
Thu. 11/1/12 10:22am Van in DC:

me too Brian in UK. But I did get the satisfaction of making two tails wag :)
  Thu. 11/1/12 10:22am Cecile:

YEAH
Thu. 11/1/12 10:23am Brian in UK:

Well I have just sold some CDs on EBay and any monies are being ploughed straight back to FMU via pledging.
  Thu. 11/1/12 10:23am Cecile:

I just got my new laptop and Adobe suite. I chipped in a tiny bit, but I am skint.
  Thu. 11/1/12 10:23am Cecile:

there you go, Brian! setting an example for us all.
  Thu. 11/1/12 10:24am dcp@:

Witch Hats is a great name.
  Thu. 11/1/12 10:24am BSI:

GREAT Spacemen cover... of course every time Revolution comes along I think it must be a phenomenal cover of "You Shouldn't Do That" by Hawkwind, but hell, both are infinite classics.
  Thu. 11/1/12 10:24am Cecile:

BSI - you might be the mastermind to do this!
  Thu. 11/1/12 10:25am Cecile:

dcp, best name since Pointed Sticks.
Thu. 11/1/12 10:26am Chris from DC:

Saw Witch Hats do this live a while back. Good stuff.
  Thu. 11/1/12 10:26am winston:

Hello from Austin, TX. Fucking great tunes happening right here.
Thu. 11/1/12 10:27am Brian in UK:

Better make another tail wag & walk a real dawg in between showers.
Avatar Thu. 11/1/12 10:29am Scott W:

YEAHHHH MAKE MY DOGGIE's TAIL WAGGY!!! please and thank you.
  Thu. 11/1/12 10:29am Cecile:

okay, this just came to me.
A mashup with this and "I want to be sedated"
  Thu. 11/1/12 10:29am dcp@:

what a great $#@!ing song this is.
Thu. 11/1/12 10:29am Brian in UK:

Best BBC accent Mr Williams!!
  Thu. 11/1/12 10:30am Cecile:

dcp, you know it.
  Thu. 11/1/12 10:30am BSI:

Cecile: these days I'm lucky if I can "organize" the relationship between toothbrush and face, nevermind such an epic undertaking. But it does sound feasible somehow...
  Thu. 11/1/12 10:31am Cecile:

I was having a discussion with a friend, and we decided that Alice's act is still kind of funny and fun while Marilyn Manson's is tired because Alice made sure the music was good and has always been self-deprecating.
  Thu. 11/1/12 10:32am Cecile:

Maybe you could some kind of hallucinogenic poster or something?
WFMU black light poster?
  Thu. 11/1/12 10:32am Cecile:

Bob Ezrin being on board didn't hurt, either.
  Thu. 11/1/12 10:33am BSI:

Actually Cecile that's something I can do. Still annoyingly without gainful employment, alas. Otherwise I'd be all over this silent 'thon. Heartbreaking, 'tis. ... OH HELL, Boogie Boots!
  Thu. 11/1/12 10:34am Cecile:

Idris Muhammad? the jazz drummer?
  Thu. 11/1/12 10:36am Cecile:

You should cook up something BSI.
Trippy black light poster.
  Thu. 11/1/12 10:46am Steve A.:

Joe Jackson! One of my fav's of his. Thanks Scott!
  Thu. 11/1/12 10:46am gomoonpie:

After so many years this Joe Jackson song still holds up and I still love it.
  Thu. 11/1/12 10:49am Cecile:

  Thu. 11/1/12 10:54am Hugo:

Thu. 11/1/12 10:54am listener james from westwood:

w00t! glad to hear part wmfu is clawing its way back to life.
  Thu. 11/1/12 10:55am Ricardo Montalban:

  Thu. 11/1/12 10:55am dcp@:

  Thu. 11/1/12 10:58am Hugo:

The Hoof and Mouth version of Atrás Do Trio Elétrico is not too bad, either ...
  Thu. 11/1/12 10:59am SteveL:

Andrew rocks!
  Thu. 11/1/12 11:00am Ricardo Montalban:

For some reason, I had thought Splet was no longer with us. If that's the case, that must've been pretty scary for WFMU'rs
Avatar Thu. 11/1/12 11:01am Scott W:

Ahhh, haha thanks Hugo! RicMon, Splet's been gone for years, alas. JULIA! !!!
Thu. 11/1/12 11:01am Van in DC:

Yay Andrew!

This is terrific tuneage...
Thu. 11/1/12 11:01am green mountain man mark:

Even though Halloween ended yesterday. The days of the dead are traditionally the 1st and 2nd of November. In Latin American tradition. You make a little shrine to all that have died in the ever past and especially for the past year. Including pets if you want. I made a little figurine for one if my cats that died one year.
  Thu. 11/1/12 11:03am dcp@:

any DCers ever see the Los Dios de los Muertos parade through Adams Morgan? Pretty cool. Not sure exactly when it happens.
Thu. 11/1/12 11:05am Chris from DC:

DCP, no but it sounds cool.
  Thu. 11/1/12 11:07am dcp@:

It should be happening sometime today I think.
  Thu. 11/1/12 11:07am Ricardo Montalban:

I bought this record from Scholastic when I was in grade school. It still creeps me out.
  Thu. 11/1/12 11:07am dcp@:

DON'T TAKE OFF THE RIBBON DUDE!!!
  Thu. 11/1/12 11:08am Ricardo Montalban:

Thank you for extending Halloween. I still feel like I didn't get enough of it.
Captch: 666
  Thu. 11/1/12 11:09am SteveL:

Another senseless ribbon-snipping tragedy.
Thu. 11/1/12 11:10am Matt from Springfield:

Thanks for the Spooky Tales, Scott!
Hope everyone's doing fine this morning.
  Thu. 11/1/12 11:11am BSI:

Loving the jabbering nitrogen mega-hell out of this set, SW. Perfect sounds for editing psychedelic visuals in depressingly obsolete software...
  Thu. 11/1/12 11:11am MD:

it's the end of the world as we know it....we had a beautiful planet...now we blew it...the planet will wipe us parisites out now I know it...now I feel fine...
Thu. 11/1/12 11:15am Matt from Springfield:

Whoa, cool! Psychedelic trip! How did she try to kill herself again? I wanna do it!!!
  Thu. 11/1/12 11:18am dcp@:

this is fun, thanks Scott W.

Wonder if those monks that set themselves on fire go through the same thing the girl did. But they come back to being a charred carcass or ashes.
Avatar Thu. 11/1/12 11:19am Scott W:

Thanks DCP, i'm having fun
  Thu. 11/1/12 11:19am jsf:

anyone else recognize Joe Frank's voice there, doing the counting?
  Thu. 11/1/12 11:20am lewis:

@jsf recognized the voice, but thought it was Rod Serling...
Avatar Thu. 11/1/12 11:20am Scott W:

jsf, what, you mean the Fright Break?? really? that was from William Castle's "Homicidal", 1961 or 2, I think
  Thu. 11/1/12 11:22am Ricardo Montalban:

Recently found a radio spot for a Lucio Fulci movie - Zombi 2 - that had the V/O work of Brother Theodore.
Thu. 11/1/12 11:23am Matt from Springfield:

Great history on the Fri the 13th sound production, Scott.
  Thu. 11/1/12 11:24am Jay:

It's great that this music is all still flowing. Can anyone reveal how it works? Is there a laptop d.j. progam that all of the d.j.'s download? Do the source tracks have to already be online somewhere (Youtube?), or can they access their home music collections? And is there an option that allows the remote d.j.'s to speak? I'm guessing not, since I have not heard that yet, but it would be great if they could, even if only through their built-in laptop microphones.
Avatar Thu. 11/1/12 11:26am Scott W:

Hi Jay - yeah, there's a lotta stuff that different people use. I love Traktor, and also just having multiple instances of Winamp open. But actually, we're back in the studio now, so all analog visceral physical tricks are once again at our disposal!
Thu. 11/1/12 11:27am Matt from Springfield:

@Ricardo: Fulci! Great Italian gore-meister!
Thu. 11/1/12 11:29am Brian in UK:

Fuck Halloweenie, Mother Nature does a much better job with better visuals. Eno soundtrack?
  Thu. 11/1/12 11:30am BSI:

YAY insane box!
  Thu. 11/1/12 11:31am Jay:
