  Mon. 10/29/12 12:01pm Doug Schulkind:

We've got three hours to raise $310 to get D:O RADIO to 100% of its goal. It's imperative that Give the Drummer Radio reaches the goal collectively, so success begins right here and now with THIS SHOW. Pitch in and help out!

No school in NYC tomorrow. w00t! Teach us something, Professor Jeff!
Avatar Mon. 10/29/12 12:13pm Jeff G:

First lesson: when school is closed in NYC, the real disasters happen at home.
Avatar Mon. 10/29/12 12:14pm Jeff G:

Glad to hear we're the only ones cutting out.
WELCOME TO THE PERFECT RADIO STORM, LISTENER JAMES, DOUG, DUKE, RICHARD FROM VENEZUELA, and SANDY. Safety in numbers...

When the going gets tough, the tough get going to Pittsburgh.
Mon. 10/29/12 12:16pm listener james from westwood:

i sent my clients notes saying i might be off the grid for a few days. one of them is on her honeymoon. i sent her the edited chapters of the book i was copyediting for her as a gift in case the power/internet outage extends. she'll get more use out of the chapters than another bloody place setting from the registry.
  Mon. 10/29/12 12:18pm Doug S.:

Bloody place settings? You have some gnarly clients, Listener James!
Avatar Mon. 10/29/12 12:19pm Jeff G:

I'm sure the new husband will appreciate the gesture, LJfW.
  Mon. 10/29/12 12:26pm Doug S.:

We have to raise $310 during this show. If everyone listening ponied up just $10 right now, we be on easy street. Please give a hand. WFMU is counting on you.
  Mon. 10/29/12 12:27pm duke:

This Arthur Blythe track is gorgeous

  Mon. 10/29/12 12:37pm bgporter:

PLEDGED! Although technically, it's not really a pledge if my card is billed immediately, is it?
Avatar Mon. 10/29/12 12:40pm Jeff G:

Look at that: bgporter moving the needle! Making it rain! IMMENSE THANKS!
Avatar Mon. 10/29/12 12:40pm Doug S.:

PLEDGE ALERT...PLEDGE ALERT...
Thanks to bgporter in Fanwood for adding some kibble to the kitty! Meow!
  Mon. 10/29/12 12:48pm northguineahills:

Gotta bring my plants inside that are small enough to fit through the window. Unfortunately, my Mexican sunflowers are too big and they've already been thrashed by the wind.
Avatar Mon. 10/29/12 12:51pm Doug S.:

Another pledge of $15 will kick this puppy up to 30%. C'mon, we gotta do it. Little bits at a time. Who shall the next savior be?
  Mon. 10/29/12 1:07pm bgporter:

Note to potential donors: Just in the last 20 minutes since I pledged, I've gotten taller and better looking.
Avatar Mon. 10/29/12 1:10pm Jeff G:

@bgporter: as if that were even possible...
  Mon. 10/29/12 1:14pm bgporter:

CURRENTLY 8FT TALL PLEASE MAKE IT STOP IS THIS A SCAM TO GET MORE MONEY?
Avatar Mon. 10/29/12 1:17pm Jeff G:

Avatar Mon. 10/29/12 1:22pm Jeff G:

...so much rebuffering...make it stop...
Avatar Mon. 10/29/12 1:22pm Jeff G:

Need some reBufferin.
Avatar Mon. 10/29/12 1:24pm Doug S.:

I can guarantee you that most radio shows on public radio that play adventuresome music like this — the few shows that really do — I can guarantee you that most would be dumbing down their content during fundraising time. Playing pretty, melodic, familiar tunes instead of plowing ahead magnificently like D:O RADIO is doing. Please reward this fabulous and courageous show! Make a contribution to WFMU using the pledge box above. D:O it now. Thank you!

[Haven't rebuffered once here, Jeff. I think maybe Sandy is pulling your chain a bit.]
  Mon. 10/29/12 1:26pm northguineahills:

Nice, some old-school David Ware!
  Mon. 10/29/12 1:30pm northguineahills:

OMG! OMG! OMG! OMG, one of my favaorite Tschicai pieces!
Avatar Mon. 10/29/12 1:35pm Jeff G:

Woo -- this set's for you, northguineahills! We wrote to the label for this one and they responded with this, and two other Treader releases they just threw in! You will hear them soon enough...!
Avatar Mon. 10/29/12 1:40pm Jeff G:

...that is, assuming Doug doesn't pull the plug on D:O Radio for not pulling our weight in the fundraising dept...
  Mon. 10/29/12 1:41pm bgporter:

I can't believe that I've been snoozing on Tchcai. That was gorgeous.
Avatar Mon. 10/29/12 1:43pm Jeff G:

...can't actually hear the show anymore... :(
  Mon. 10/29/12 1:44pm northguineahills:

Yeah, I picked up that John Tchicai w/ Strings at the DMG when it came out, and it floored me.
Avatar Mon. 10/29/12 1:48pm Doug S.:

Sandy, shmandy. Not having D:O RADIO would be a true disaster. (Maybe not a "toxic shitstorm," like New York Magazine called the overflow of the Gowanus Canal, but pretty awful.)
Avatar Mon. 10/29/12 2:10pm Jeff G:

Fred Braceful's drumming on this track is readymade for some hip-hop sampling.

On the Corner!
Avatar Mon. 10/29/12 2:19pm Doug S.:

Yelp! Yelp! Yelp!

We really need to get some pledges in for this great show. WFMU is in tough financial shape. Our spring Marathon no longer covers the station's annual budget.

Normally, our annual Record Fair provides a desperately needed infusion of late-in-the-year cash, but it's beginning to look like this coming weekend's record fair is going to be adversely affected.

Which makes your contributions now ALL THE MORE ESSENTIAL. Take a moment and make a donation to WFMU. If you have already pledged, please give just a little more. Even $5 or $10 will make a difference.
  Mon. 10/29/12 2:19pm john:

Sent in a pledge. Keep up the good work!
Avatar Mon. 10/29/12 2:21pm Doug S.:

PLEDGE ALERT...PLEDGE ALERT...
John in Jackson Heights has pledged! Thank you John from the bottom of our record collections!!!

Pledge now! A $45 contribution jumps us up to 50% Go go go!
Avatar Mon. 10/29/12 2:22pm Jeff G:

  Mon. 10/29/12 2:23pm northguineahills:

Avatar Mon. 10/29/12 2:24pm Jeff G:

  Mon. 10/29/12 2:30pm john:

No problemo. You guys really do a great job with your shows, site, etc. Glad to help out.
Mon. 10/29/12 2:39pm listener james from westwood:

Thanks to a late (anonymous) pledge from Felsted, UK!! We are seriously CHUFFED!
Avatar Mon. 10/29/12 2:59pm Jeff G:

Great -- as always -- to have you riding shotgun, listener james.
Hope everyone survives Sandy intact, and then has a frightful Halloween! Boo! See y'all in a fortnight...if not sooner.
Avatar Mon. 10/29/12 3:00pm Jeff G:

So much chuff.

Thanks, listener in Felsted!
Avatar Mon. 10/29/12 3:02pm Doug S.:
