Street interviews, listener call-ins, vinyl gluttery, sporadic normalcy, original floperas and fiktion, blatant talking over songs, politix, tenderness, and a vague undercurrent of angst. Right up your alley!

Q'shan Dia  Show Me The Love   Favoriting PCM  2003  45  Most of the records (which, incidentally, are all 45's this week) on this episode were procured from one cardboard box at the 25th St. Fleamarket in Chelsea. I had passed this box on several previous weekends, noting that it contained a lot of reggae-oriented stuff and that's generally not my bag, but I delved into finally, and I'm really glad I did. I may go back for more. Good kind-of-obscure Brooklyn stuff for the most part.

And so ... another Dusty Show is in the can. Thank you for checking it out. As I am typing this, we are in the midst of a month-long Silent Fundraiser at FMU. It is not one that we are talking about on the air (sa as NOT to bother you!). That said, I could really use your support if you can make a pledge.

Last week after the Triumvirate Reunion and Duel with Fabio and Julie, I did very well with pledges. This week, on my own and dealing mainly with politics, I did poorly. Only a 2% 'bump'.

I suppose the larger question is whether or not the listeners are interested in politics and the coverage I try to do pretty frequently. I can certainly understand that you are probably inundated with political coverage on the media right now with the election approaching. I sometimes wrongly assume that everyone shares my obsession and addiction to politics, which of course, many do not. I really enjoy talking about it, but perhaps I am overdoing it and losing some of you. I would be interested to know your opinions. It would be much easier for me to go 'live' and play records or take phone calls, but it wouldn't be as satisfying for me. With the new schedule coming up, I am trying to decide whether or not to ask for a renewal of the program. Again, your input would be most appreciated concerning what you like and don't like about The Dusty Show. I look forward to hearing from you.

Until next time, enjoy the fall, attend WFMU's Record Fair, and may you find much happiness and fulfillment in all you do. I appreciate your continued support and loyalty. 7 years on ... still Dustyfying. Thanks!!! Take care and ...

Always Remember ...

@kata: It's likier to go to Obama, but we can't predict the future. Yogi Berra's seemingly simple, yet profound quote: "It ain't over, till it's over". Especially so with football, and with this election as well.

Timb:

Hi Clay! Timb here enjoying the show from Fort Lauderdale.
  6:15pm
Matt from Springfield:

This (1980) one is so typical of the era, it's hard to tell whether this is an original from the era, or one of those "WTNG" recordings from this year!

It is a great song. Well-produced by Kim Fowley of Runaways fame.

Matt from Springfield:

@Night Al: Now, you'll never persuade people that way. I'm frustrated that people support Romney (and many worse than him). But most Americans are just doing what's in line with their values. Introducing new values into their calculus is how you change. Not short or easy, but we're on a constant search for wisdom.

@kata: I learned about that on the Net yesterday. I didn't think anything of it, because I see Mitt as a liar. He said something not factually true, and the moderator said that wasn't factually true. Those in denial of Rmoney being a liar probably reacted out of fear.

Vintage political ads!
Try to find some from the 60s or so, with those really old school announcers like in the "Daisy" ad.
  6:36pm
Night Al:

The 2 party system is a crime. Obama signed the NDAA. He supports the continued drain-off of American jobs by supporting NAFTA, WTO, and now TPP. He let the BP oil volcano spew for months while BP experimented with solutions. Americans don't use their brains to make an educated decision. They vote with the herd they run with while watching Honey Boo-Boo.
