@bloopy: Yes. My friend Hallock Hill (who we'll probably be hearing later) reminded me of him/them. I hadn't heard H.S. in ages.
  9:20pm

everything steven r. smith touches is the greatest. his latest ulaan khol record is a signal example.

Ken From Hyde Park:

Know what was cool? Years ago, I'd be coming back from vacation and hanging around Grand Central Station waiting for the train. There would be some dude playing guitar in the corner of the huge waiting room. The Ida song had that kind of vibe. So thanks for that. Nice show tonight.
  9:23pm
doca:

Studio: 201-200-9368
On air: 201-209-9368
Avatar 10:49pm
Dave M.:

Yes. But let me be fair about it and give it out over the air.
  10:59pm
blue:

Yeah, I am friends with some of the elders of the Fluxus group...have an 87 year old friend. She and her ex spouse, who worked directly with Maciunas, always pronounce it that way. Though I have heard it your way in the current art scene so... maybe there is a flux with the pronunciation of his name...He's the mastermind of Fluxus so perhaps he pronounced it differently occasionally..."it's part of the piece!" I'm happy that you put him on the air. I feel a bit strange going on about this because it matters little. That you are a fantastic DJ with enormous knowledge, enthusiasm and brilliance is the most important.
Avatar 11:06pm
Dave M.:

Aw, thanks. No, I'm sure you're right about the pronunciation, and I'm glad you told me because really lots of people pronounce it the other way. I've seen lots of Fluxus people perform, and I still didn't realize.

I went to that W place-

George Maciunas (Lithuanian: Jurgis Mačiūnas, pronounced ma-chew-nas; born 8 November 1931 in Kaunas, Lithuania

12539:

Isn't Sigurðsson Icelandic, as opposed to Finnish?
Avatar 11:28pm
Dave M.:

@blue: Thanks. You were close enough. Night.
Avatar 11:32pm
Dave M.:

@12539: Yes, you're right. I'm losing my mind. Definitely Icelandic. I don't think they even have the "eth" in Finnish. (Voiced dental fricative, for the record, like the "th" in "this.")
  11:33pm
12539:

It's okay, Dave, you're still doing a great job with the music.
Avatar 11:38pm
Dave M.:

Thanks. I think it's the silly season.
