  As she likes to describe it, Janine Nichols enjoys "Music as slow motion thrill ride." The singer/writer/rhythm guitarist fronts the band Semi-Free, creating atmospheric songs and renditions of others' tunes in a gentler mode of music. Janine Nichols & Semi-Free joined Irene for a live set in WFMU's "love" room.

@Kat: nice to know L'Atalante is still being watched in the US. Have you seen Zero De Conduite by the same director, Jean Vigo? It's an important movie over here.

You know, Kat, you're absolutely right. At least on this track she sounds totally like Sedaris. But I think Kat's a really inventive interpreter, at least on the other songs.
