Cheri Pi:

my my my!
  12:04pm
paula pc:

nice nice -- it's a horn day, from Ken's show to this! and this is great!!!
  12:04pm
Cecile:

DJ Duane and crew!
I loved the Mark Farina show last Friday. Just amazing, and the lead-in DJ who was also the promoter, Bryan Gerrard was great too. I was looking for a tribal/classic house night not in a meat market, and this is it.

Quick question, do you know who Corduroy Mavericks are? They seem to be pretty great.
  12:07pm
Duane:

Hi Cheri, Paula and Cecile. So glad Mark Farina brought the classy dance music to you. He can be suspect sometimes:) Corduroy Mavericks are great. Kentucky House music! Who knew?
  12:10pm
Cecile:

Mark was in a really hard, groovy mood the other night. He was throwing in the Euryhmics and old weird ska loops like it was no tomorrow. the only reason I had to skip early is that I had a hot date at the Ren Fest w/ Mr. C.
I know, Duane! They remind me of the mix of stuff you play, but with more tribal beats. They are pretty sick as the kids say.

Lulu! You tell them!
  12:15pm
Eli:

The west coast wakes up. Eggs, coffee, and Duane's show.
  12:15pm
Cecile:

This Tempts remix is great.
  12:16pm
robyn:

  12:18pm
Mike East:

I have to admit, I don't think I knew this was a temptations song. Really cool remix.

  12:27pm
Mike East:

nice! I just bought this ELO record a few months ago!
  12:27pm
kata:

whats up people
  12:28pm
Duane:

Thank you robyn. The Marilyn Chambers bit is a clip from this NY Public Access show she was on in the early 80's. IT was up on youtube for awhile, but it might've been flagged 'cuz she was topless.Next to bright copper kettles.. It is one of my favorite things in the world..I have a major Marilyn Chambers obsession that's been in effect since i was a teen>>HA!
  12:29pm
Duane:

Hi Kata! How are ya?
  12:31pm
robyn:

yeah i assume that sound at the end is her popping her top off ? i was unfamiliar of her but she seems worthy of fixation. quite a personality, i'm at work so that's about all i can evaluate at the moment, lol...
  12:32pm
Cecile:

hey, kata
  12:32pm
una cafe:

Wednesday has never had it so good.
  12:33pm

The softcore stuff!
  12:35pm

  12:50pm
chris:

I like people who listen to (and play on their show) songs like I like to do it in fast cars
  12:51pm
Cheri Pi:

I like to do it fast in cars.
  12:54pm
kata:

oh this is an awesome Prince track Duane ! bring it
  12:54pm
mustapha coltrane:

yes, duane!
  12:54pm
chris:

I like you Cheri Pi.

Speaking of your premium CD, Duane. My son has confiscated it. He's 12... so maybe he'll have a Marilyn Chambers thing soon, too... I'll blame/credit you.
  12:55pm
Droll:

[weekly obligatory comment about being awed by Maestro Prince goes here]
  12:55pm
Duane:

Chris: Yeah, that's about the right age..:) Sorry. I turned alright though...so to speak.
  12:56pm
Cheri Pi:

the Prince weekly Wednesday is my high.
  12:59pm
Neg-guh-tor:

Where can I get this unreleased Prince you play, Duane? This song is now one of my favorite Prince songs!
  1:02pm
Duane:

Neg-Guh-tor; Awesome! You know..I think this particualr Prince track was bootlegged on vinyl a few years ago. It's a lot easier to find than other material i've layed..and yes this might be one of my all time fave Prince Tracks as well
  1:02pm
paul:

"next page"
  1:03pm
Neg-guh-tor:

Crazy. This sounds like 1999 era. Just great. Goes on and on...... He was high!
  1:09pm
Eli:

Sick...
  1:19pm
Cecile:

not by using that accent I would bet.
  1:20pm
paul:

this burrell brothers comp is so great, and i was so happy when i found a Metro record at a record fair in Toronto a few months ago.
  1:21pm
Cecile:

I'm sure it's amazing. I kid because I love.
  1:24pm
Cecile:

great stuff, duane
  1:46pm
Droll:

I think Inner Dialogue has been eating said little bits of paper, and they may have been laced with something.
  1:52pm
seang:

I'm diggin' this!
  1:53pm
J-Mar:

I have the Inner Dialogue record. Found it at a yard sale once and haven't seen it since. LOVE IT! Always wondered what the deal was with them.
  1:55pm
steve:

genius
  1:55pm
Cecile:

Love this mashup.
J-Mar, what a find. I thnk they were probably an embittered studio group making fun of the hippie stuff they had to play and sing.
  1:57pm
Brass Knuckles:

Niiiice.
  1:58pm
Parq:

Okay now (or "Hey now", if you prefer), was that Outkast sampling Jackson, or was it Jackson and 'Kast mashed by a third party? (And since this is Duane's show, I do mean "party".)
  2:00pm
Duane:

Hey Parq: It's a crew called BHF who did it. Don't stop rockin'!
  2:00pm
steve:

wait... what was that sample? i thought it was Two Hearts by Phil Collins
  2:01pm
Droll:

J-Mar, I just looked up the album cover -- I totally understand what hooked you without hearing a note. I'd have brawled with you for it. Cecile's explanation sounds plausible, is the rest of the LP like that hit single?
  2:07pm
still b/p:

Girl Talk used Steppin' Out for a mashup in the energetic All Day soundtrack..along with a couple dozen others. Quite a catalog/parade of pop hits from a few decades mashed in there.
  2:28pm
Parq:

Still b/p,. I was just about to say, in New York's (wonderful) Rooftop Films series this past summer, I saw the terrific dance film piece called "Girl Walk/All Day", which has a terrific soundtrack, separately released as "Girl Talk/All Day" and available as a *free* download. It's a 90 minute hip hop piece that samples literally hundreds of great tracks, including the Jackson and many other post-punk classics. Playing name that tune with the soundtrack is half the fun of seing the movie.
  2:35pm
seang:

Nigel
  2:36pm
Bloodbath:

What a rip!
  2:40pm
still b/p:

Parq - I did see a local showing, and I did download the soundtrack. (Turned out glitchy in the burning toward the last tracks, so I have to redo.) Those notes of nostalgia/recognition as the flick bopped and jumped along were fun and satisfying. Filmmaker was on hand, and I asked about any "making of" journal or posted anecdotes related to getting the thing shot, some of which I assume had to be a running-gun, permit/permission-ducking, improv adventure. He said there wasn't any such account at the time.
  2:45pm
Cheri Pi:

Double the Prince! Our lucky day.
  2:46pm
Duane:

yup!!
  2:49pm
still b/p:

Like Fotomat!
  7:54pm
bennett4senate:

this steppin in Baghdad mashup is guilty good
