You see a blanket on the ground. It's your favorite color, smooth and soft. You can sit on it, or lie on it. It's a flying blanket, and you are the pilot. You are in control. You can fly anywhere you wish, just by thinking about it. You are the pilot.

Listener comments!

  Mon. 9/3/12 9:08pm 12539:

For once I am surprised.
  Mon. 9/3/12 9:09pm damien:

AHHHHHHHH!!! (hard Break)
Avatar Mon. 9/3/12 9:10pm Dan B:

Have you guys heard of this band? I just picked up this new LP and it is gobsmackingly good! Weird, but good!
  Mon. 9/3/12 9:12pm PB:

Of all the "prog" rock bands I always thought Yes the best and Close to the Edge was always my favorite Yes tune.
Mon. 9/3/12 9:14pm Ken From Hyde Park:

RIP Mark Abrahamian, age 46.
  Mon. 9/3/12 9:16pm PB:

DB, just do us a favor and don't play anything from Tales From Togographic Oceans. That album is really, really bad. The worst that "prog" had to offer.
Avatar Mon. 9/3/12 9:17pm Dan B:

@PB, good thing I couldn't find that one in the stacks!
Avatar Mon. 9/3/12 9:18pm Dan B:

@Ken, did Abrahamian play with any other groups?
Mon. 9/3/12 9:18pm Richard from Venezuela:

Hello Dan and all the listeners.
  Mon. 9/3/12 9:19pm 12539:

Dan, you'd probably find "Tales from..." among the 8 tracks.
  Mon. 9/3/12 9:21pm Marmalade kitty:

No
  Mon. 9/3/12 9:22pm coelacanth:

Dan,you're strange but true...Good and strange...Strangely good & truly strange...And you're deviating from the wfmu fashion code...'Makes you cool.
  Mon. 9/3/12 9:22pm Marmalade kitty:

Good evening!
Avatar Mon. 9/3/12 9:23pm Dan B:

@12539, that's horrible -- how could they break the track up across the 4 channels without screwing it up?!
Mon. 9/3/12 9:23pm Richard from Venezuela:

great synthesizer
Avatar Mon. 9/3/12 9:23pm Dan B:

@MK, presumably you mean that no, Abrahamian did not play with bands other than Starship?
Mon. 9/3/12 9:24pm Ken From Hyde Park:

http://www.markabrahamian.com/bio.html mentions a list of bands and artists that Mark played with.
  Mon. 9/3/12 9:26pm 12539:

Never mind the tracks, what about the Roger Dean gatefold?!
Mon. 9/3/12 9:27pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Scott Williams played yesyesyesyes back on March 12, and that was pretty entertaining.
  Mon. 9/3/12 9:30pm PB:

Was very surprised to see that Lee Ranaldo contributed a track to this Fleetwood Mac "tribute".
Mon. 9/3/12 9:47pm Richard from Venezuela:

This Chris track is Very good
  Mon. 9/3/12 9:48pm kookazoo:

dear dan, not a request but just a statement of moderate need when i say i could use what you think might be the best drone laden dandy warhols' song.
  Mon. 9/3/12 9:51pm kookazoo:

okay, who do i think i am...the peru ubu is it. i'm healed of all desire. thanks.
  Mon. 9/3/12 9:56pm damien:

i hear a Bowie/Richard Thompson melding. oh, wait, is this Suede? :)
Avatar Mon. 9/3/12 9:56pm Dan B:

@Richard, hello sir...yes, loving this Chris Forsyth record, though it takes some patience to unfold. Luckily we have that in adequate supply here at WFMU. Also @kookazoo, I *may* be able to work in dandys as well, we'll see.
Avatar Mon. 9/3/12 9:57pm Dan B:

@damien it's Robot Thompson
  Mon. 9/3/12 9:59pm damien:

He was my favoUrite Thompson Twin
Avatar Mon. 9/3/12 10:13pm Dan B:

How would Diamanda Galas work in this show??
  Mon. 9/3/12 10:14pm PB:

This feels like one of those 30 minute tracks. Really good though.
Avatar Mon. 9/3/12 10:15pm Dan B:

Next show from Castello Plan coming up on Sept. 17th -- Lexie Roth will be there + another artist TBA
  Mon. 9/3/12 10:25pm Destroit:

Hello Dan B & everyone. Jumped in 10:00, good stuff. Expo 70 is great.
Avatar Mon. 9/3/12 10:29pm Dan B:

@Destroit, welcome
  Mon. 9/3/12 10:29pm toni:

ugh. just heard a great song and cant figure out what it was. the one that was just before your last info update and before the one that sound like a pink floyd intro. i'm in a car and can't stream
  Mon. 9/3/12 10:36pm PB:

DB, it was Expo 67 in Montreal in 1967. My family drove up from Toronto to attend. I was a little kid.
  Mon. 9/3/12 10:37pm Ignore Function:

Was Expo 70 a reference to a Japanese band?
  Mon. 9/3/12 10:37pm Andrew Waterloo:

according the Sir Google Expo 70 was in Japan
  Mon. 9/3/12 10:38pm Parq:

Expo 67 was indeed a worlds, fair in Montreal, the first after 64-65 in Queens. I attended it, once, on a hot summer day with long lines. The little that's left of it, albeit in better shape than the 64-65 Flushing Meadow grounds, is the Isle de St Helene Park in Montreal. Expo 70 was, if I remember correctly, in Japan.
  Mon. 9/3/12 10:41pm toni:

now i am just going to have to google all these songs post ubu. alright.
  Mon. 9/3/12 10:43pm toni:

was probably the necks....
  Mon. 9/3/12 10:43pm 12539:

Toni, you can check the archive when it's posted later on, with the approximate time each piece starts.
Avatar Mon. 9/3/12 10:45pm Dan B:

@all, thanks for the Expo info
  Mon. 9/3/12 10:46pm ADM:

Is this somehow connected to the EX?
  Mon. 9/3/12 10:46pm Andrew Waterloo:

@ADM, I had the same thought
Avatar Mon. 9/3/12 10:49pm Dan B:

@ADM, Andrew, yes -- GW Sok singing
  Mon. 9/3/12 10:50pm ADM:

Apparently G.W.Sok left in 09 and is now with this group of frenchmen amongst other things.
  Mon. 9/3/12 10:50pm ADM:

So he's an Ex-Ex.
  Mon. 9/3/12 10:52pm toni:

thank you 12539
Avatar Mon. 9/3/12 10:52pm Dan B:

*groan*
Avatar Mon. 9/3/12 10:55pm Dan B:

@toni -- I think it was Expo 70 you were thinking of, because I didn't play the Necks during the mic break you were talking about. I talked over the Expo 70 track instead, and started talking shortly after the track had begun.
Avatar Mon. 9/3/12 10:57pm Dan B:

Thanks to the unnamed listener who called in to request this Buckley tune
  Mon. 9/3/12 10:57pm toni:

thank you dan! also such a lovely surprise to hear you and go BODAH! havent seen you or M in ages
Avatar Mon. 9/3/12 11:02pm Dan B:

@toni, ah, hi!
  Mon. 9/3/12 11:07pm ADM:

AH HA HAHA
Avatar Mon. 9/3/12 11:10pm Dan B:

@ADM, look what you made me go and do!
  Mon. 9/3/12 11:12pm ADM:

Don't worry, your delivery was perfect.
  Mon. 9/3/12 11:13pm fishmonkeystew:

  Mon. 9/3/12 11:13pm doca:

  Mon. 9/3/12 11:14pm doca:

great track this one by om. thanks dan b, i didn't knew them!
Avatar Mon. 9/3/12 11:15pm Dan B:

@doca, well, now you have a LOT of old Om records to explore! This one is an awesome new development for them, but I love pretty much all they have done.
  Mon. 9/3/12 11:21pm doca:

well, yeah, for some reason i didn't knew them. but one album a year for at least six or seven year surely is gonna make me busy.
Avatar Mon. 9/3/12 11:56pm Dan B:

Hey all, thanks for tuning in -- it's been a fun night. Supruli & City Wears a Slouch Hat coming up next week! See you then.
