Street interviews, listener call-ins, vinyl gluttery, sporadic normalcy, original floperas and fiktion, blatant talking over songs, politix, tenderness, and a vague undercurrent of angst. Right up your alley!

Another Dusty Show in the can. Thanks for listening, whoever you are. Speaking of which, why not touch base? It's easy ----- dusty@Wfmu.org. I'd love to hear from you. Maybe you don't know what to say? It's cool for me to hear what city you listened to the show in. Jersey City? Mahwah? Trenton? NYC? Or perhaps, LA, Seattle, Portland, Atlanta, Cedar Rapids, etc. No city is too big or too small. Represent!

Have been having fun doing the shows, though I've been really busy this summer with various pursuits. I hope you are enjoying listening. Sometimes I feel as if I ask the same damned questions over and over, and I do. I'll try to break the mold soon, if I can. I guess with the election coming up, I'm right back in the thick of that scene, being a political junkie and asking ad nauseum about Obamaloney and Romneyhood. I'll keep an eye on things and we'll see what transpires and if we need to move to Canada. In the meantime ... take care ... have fun ... always remember.

Lou Reed's 'waiting for my man' would be good there...

Matt from Springfield:

@Al: Did the bar surroundings seem fairly typical to you, or were you fearful of even going inside the place to get your Dad out? Wondering how you reacted as a child.

There's some prog rock

Night Al:

Moms disdain was the only down side for me...dad would be proud of me introducing me to all his bar friends. Not really traumatic. The most traumatic part was watching my mom's disdain of him.
  6:11pm
Matt from Springfield:

I was about to say: there was a scheduling SNAFU on Tuesday at WFMU; first they said Clay would be filling in for Chris T, then the announcement was dropped and Chris T with a different guest was listing. But NEXT TUESDAY, Clay will be filling in for Chris. And Clay DID come on to co-host last Tuesday, with a special phone interview. I listened to it--very good, it's an important interview!
  6:11pm

We'd love a 3 hour Dusty show!
  6:12pm

I'll be missing the next 2 weeks, Clay. It's even worse since you'll be on twice a week. Yay for the archives! But I'll be visiting family, which will be nice. Haven't seen my mother in almost 2 years.

Listened to'the 'Yes' album while soaking in the tub last night...love Steve Howe's guitar playing! He sat down across from me having lunch while working the Asia/Alan Parsons Project show here in Clearwater a few years back. He was very friendly.
  6:15pm
Caryn:

Thanks, Clay! It'll be nice, since it's basically a tour of 3 different places, and I'll end up seeing pretty much my entire extended family at some point.

Timb. Good to hear from you. Ft. Lauderdale gets a mention later this hour.

have to listen on the cornputer. a lot of weird fm skip going on due to t-storms up here in the hudson valley. 90.1 is classical fading in to jazz fading in to hiss

I ran spotlight for Chris Tucker's stand-up show last Saturday night. Then I helped set up the stage in center field after the Tampa Bay Rays game Sunday for the Wiggles Show. Both ends of the entertainment spectrum last weekend. Tucker was hilarious! A fellow stagehand told me one of the Wiggles was a registered sex offender. Not sure about that.
  6:19pm
Caryn:

Romney Hood, Romney Hood, riding on the track. Romney Hood, Romney Hood, on Rafalca's back...
  6:20pm
Danne D:

@dale how did you tell the difference? Classical fading into jazz fading into hiss is normal around here? ;o)

not to critique clay, but totally had a chance to throw in an oscar meyer ad there, clay :)

Great luck in the plumber's future!
  6:30pm
dale:

somebody i know was (unbeknownst to me) a registered sex offender. he was at a barbecue with his daughter, stopped on the way home to pee behind the car and a cop came along. they charged him with dwi, public indecency and exposing himself to a minor and he's in jail for the next five years. he was dumb, but that doesn't help his kid since he can't pay child support anymore. messed up system sometimes

pine bush is supposed to have seen a lot of ufo's. friend up in delhi swears he and his wife were visited - he was rendered frozen and she went off with them for an hour or so. the guy's not nuts, never knew what to make of it
  6:42pm
Phillip in San Antonio:

Incredible to see. We weren't expecting to see them. Its a great cheap travel destination. Spent the night at a throwback 1950s travel traveler park in a tee pee. Great weather. Cooler than New York on a lot of nights.
  6:42pm
Night Al:

Love seventies music, late sixties also. I been playing some old Rolling Stones albums on youtube. Goats Head Soup, Black and Blue, Exile on Main Street. Made me go to the library and get Keith Richards autobiography, 'Life'. The first chapters are his childhood east of London, just getting to the band years. Got Gregg Allman's 'My Cross To Bear' to read after I'm done with Keith.
